  • The WBURN (2-D, 2-group, coarse mesh) code is developed to analyze the equilibrium core characteristics of CANDU-PHWR. The equilibrium characteristics of Wolsung reactor computed by using WBURN are compared with the values given in the Wolsung FSR. The changes of equilibrium core characteristics caused by the variation of design parameters for operating conditions are also investigated. The numerical results indicate that the average discharge irradiation in the Wolsung reactor can be increased up to about 5%.

  • Removal of Cd(Ⅱ), Zn(Ⅱ) and Cu(Ⅱ) from aqueous solutions using the adsorption process on magadiite has been investigated. It was found that the removal percentage of metal cations at equilibrium increases with increasing temperature, and follows the order of Cd(Ⅱ) > Cu(Ⅱ) > Zn(Ⅱ). Equilibrium modeling of adsorption showed that the adsorptions of Cd(Ⅱ), Cu(Ⅱ), and Zn(Ⅱ) were fitted to Langmuir isotherm. Kinetic modeling of the adsorption showed that first order reversible kinetic model fitted to experimental data. From kinetic model and equilibrium data, the overall rate constant (k) and the equilibrium constant (K) for the adsorption process were calculated. The overall rates of adsorption of metal ions follow the order of Cd(Ⅱ) > Cu(Ⅱ) > Zn(Ⅱ). From the results of thermodynamic analysis, standard Gibbs free energy (ΔG°), standard enthalpy (ΔH°), and standard entropy (ΔS°) of adsorption process were calculated.

  • We construct a signaling game model between the arbitrator and claimants, in which the arbitrator's marketing amount is adopted as the signaling device. Assuming that the parties to the dispute select an arbitrator, and if there is a difference in the arbitrator's fee depending on the arbitrator's reputation, the arbitrator will pay to further enhance his reputation. We would like to analyze the cost differences between arbitrators who already have a high reputation and arbitrators who strive to further enhance their reputation using the signal model. From the Analysis of our study, We derive perfect Bayesian equilibrium of the signaling game and refine the equilibrium into a unique equilibrium by invoking the Intuitive Criterion of Cho and Kreps (1987). Further, we characterize the refined equilibrium.

  • A deterministic model for the spread of pine wilt disease with asymptomatic carrier trees in the host pine population is designed and rigorously analyzed. We have taken four different classes for the trees, namely susceptible, exposed, asymptomatic carrier and infected, and two different classes for the vector population, namely susceptible and infected. A complete global analysis of the model is given, which reveals that the global dynamics of the disease is completely determined by the associated basic reproduction number, denoted by $\mathcal{R}_0$. If $\mathcal{R}_0$ is less than one, the disease-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable, and in such a case, the endemic equilibrium does not exist. If $\mathcal{R}_0$ is greater than one, the disease persists and the unique endemic equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable.

  • This paper presents a new algorithm to determine the pre-loads that sustain the static equilibrium state in a given position. The algorithm which uses a partial velocity matrix leads to an unconstrained optimization problem to compute the pre-loads of the suspensions. To demonstrate the validity of the proposed algorithm, the static analysis results that employ the pre-loads of three examples are presented using a reliable commercial program. Results of the analysis confirm the validity of the proposed algorithm.

  • In this work, we summarize the calculation processes of obtaining a scattering factor using with the equilibrium average projection scheme (EAPS), with moderately weak coupling (MWC) interaction, and obtain the line-shape formula of an electron-deformation phonon interacting system interested in the confinement of electrons by squarwell confinement potentials in quantum two dimensional system.. Through the numerical analysis, we analysis the magnetic dependence of absorption power, P(B) in several temperature and frequency difference dependence of absorption power $P({\Delta}{\omega})$, in several external field, where ${\Delta}{\omega}={\omega}-{\omega}_0$ and ${\omega}({\omega}_0)$ is the angular frequency (the cyclotron resonance frequency). The result of equilibrium average projection scheme (EAPS) in SER-MWC explains the properties of quantum transition quite well.

  • We propose an accurate and efficient estimation method of transverse shear stresses for analysis and design of laminated composite structures by 4-node quadrilateral degenerated shell elements. To get proper distributions of transverse shear stresses in each layer, we use 3-dimensional equilibrium equations instead of constitutive equations with shear correction factors which vary diversely according to the shapes of shell sections. Three dimensional equilibrium equations are integrated through the thickness direction with complete polynomial membrane stress fields, which are recovered by REP (Recovery by Equilibrium in Patches) recovery method. The 4-node quadrilateral degenerated shell element used in this paper has drilling degrees of freedom and shear stresses derived from assumed strain fields that are set up at natural coordinate systems. The numerical results demonstrate that the proposed estimation method attains reasonable accuracy and efficiency compared with other methods and FE analysis using 4-node degenerated shell elements.

  • This study was performed to determine adsorption equilibrium moisture contents of rough rice, brown rice, white rice and rice hull grown in Korea. EMC values were measured by static method using saturated salt solutions at three temperature levels of 20$\^{C}$, 30$\^{C}$ and 40$\^{C}$, and eight relative humidity levels in the range from 11.2% to 85.0%. The measured EMC values were fitted to modified Henderson, Chung-Pfost, and modified Oswin models by using nonlinear regression analysis. The results of comparing root mean square errors for three models showed that modified Henderson and Chung-Pfost models could serve as good models, and that modified Oswin model could not be applicable to rough rice, brown rice, white rice and rice hull.

  • If the part of the HTS magnet is exposed to the outside of the cryogenic coolant due to the fluctuation of the height of the cooling liquid or the vapor generation, the uncooled part becomes very unstable. In this paper, the unstable equilibrium temperature distribution of the uncooled part of a superconductor is obtained, and the maximum temperature and energy are calculated as a function of the uncooled length. Similar to the superconductor stability problem, the current sharing model was applied to derive the theoretical formula and calculated by numerical integration. We also applied a jump model, which assumes that joule heat is generated in all of the uncooled segment, and compares it with the current sharing model results. As a result of the analysis, the stable equilibrium state and the critical uncooled length in the jump model are not shown in the current sharing model. The stability of the conductors to external disturbances was discussed based on the obtained temperature distribution, maximum temperature, and energy.

  • Magnetic properties of CoPt nanoparticles (average size = 2.1 nm) encapsulated in synthesized protein shell have been investigated with SQUID (Superconducting Quantum Interference Device) magnetometer and analyzed by the recently developed non-equilibrium magnetization calculation by our group [T. H. Lee et al., Phys. Rev. B 90, 184411 (2014)]. Field dependence of magnetization measured at 2 K was successfully analyzed with modified Langevin function. In addition, small hysteresis loops having the coercive field of 890 Oe were observed at 2 K. Temperature dependence of magnetization has been measured with zero field cooled (ZFC) and field cooled (FC) protocol with slightly modified sequence in accordance with non-equilibrium magnetization calculation. The analysis on the M vs. T data revealed that the anisotropy energy barrier distribution is found to be very different from the log-normal distribution found in a size distribution. Zero temperature coercive field and Bloch coefficient have also been extracted from the analysis and the validity of those values is checked.
