Sustainable Development Policies on Environmental-Friendly Agriculture (지속가능한 환경농업정책의 기본 방향)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze policies on environmental-friendly agriculture(EFA) and find out some implications. As we know well, EFA contributes environmental substantiality by using organic production methods and provides consumers with a secure, safe nutritious food supply. As consumption of environmental-friendly agricultural products increasing, policies on EFA began in the 1990s and it has been generally expanded in Korea. The strategies for sustainable EFA aim to promote harmony among human beings and between humanity and nature require. In addition, support to develop marketing activities, regionalization, and political support must be further developed.

  • The objective of this study is to introduce a program for environmental conservation in environment-friendly agriculture. For this, we first analyze a performance condition of environment-friendly agricultural districts and zones. And then we survey difficulties on implementation and main points for spread of environment-friendly agriculture. Finally we forecast an effectiveness and realizability on program for environmental conservation in environment-friendly agriculture. As a result, it is necessary to plan policies on qualitative as well as quantitative growth in environment-friendly agriculture. The results of this study will be meaningful to make policies on spread of environment-friendly agriculture.

  • In this article the author provided a brief introduction to the function and activation of 4-H fanning organization. The strategies developed to improve the environmental-friendly Agriculture are as following : the efficiency cooperatives of 4-H fanning organization, invitation of the upbringing plan of organization leader for promotion of the pilot region project of environmental-friendly Agriculture connected with green tourism, the establishment of reasonable management plan and strategies. In conclusion, there must be strategic measures to increase the income of environmental-friendly farmers. All of this information could be useful for the further development of the strategy for environmental-friendly Agriculture in organization and management.

  • Environmental-friendly agriculture(EFA) has been mainly developed at many areas which have factors of natural, social cultural and economic characteristics. These rural areas can be developed into environmental-friendly space to preserve ecosystem, natural and cultural scenery, and environmental resources. The plan for developing a regional agriculture has to get central operating bodies, producers' organizations, a homogeneous district for farming, and so on. This case study is focused on development directions and situations of the EFA of Kosam area in Anseong. Kosam cooperatives is a central managing body to produce and sell rice by duck-farming method, and to develop rural area. This cooperatives is one of the leading those that have developed the regional agriculture in Korea. Kosam area is at a disadvantage of natural-geographical conditions and farming size. Kosam cooperatives has been trying to overcome these agricultural weaknesses by introducing duck-farming method. They have got many excellent results through developing EFA as a regional agriculture. Kosam area will be a good place for green tourism if they can actualize the combination model of three demand factors (natural and agricultural scenic view, natural-friendly recreation and safe food) for green tourism in the near future.

Evaluating the Value of Environment-Friendly Agricultural Landscapes Using CRM (CRM을 이용한 친환경농업의 경관가치 평가)

  • Environment-friendly agriculture has not only the simple purpose producing foods but also the key roles of conserving rural environments, landscapes and sustainable land uses. In addition, environment-friendly agricultural areas and their landscapes are important factors representing uniqueness of rural areas. For these reasons, this study investigates the landscapes formed through environment-friendly agriculture and evaluates the economic values of the landscapes using CRM(contingent ranking method) which has been known as one of the practical methods in the field of environmental economics. Based upon a scenario that government introduces the ratio of environment-friendly agriculture to evaluate economic values, a survey was performed with 1,088 of rural residents throughout the country. The results of this study indicate that the economic value for conservation and maintenance of environment-friendly agriculture landscapes is 480 won per household/month/1% environment-friendly agriculture, and this can be converted into 829 hundred million won per 1% environment-friendly agriculture nationally.

Comparative Analysis of the Antioxidant Activities of Green Peppers Cultivated under Conventional and Environmental-Friendly Farming conditions

  • Environmental-friendly agriculture (EFA) is defined as the cultivation of crops with reduced amounts or without chemical-synthetic pesticides. Recently, the use of chemical pesticides has decreased significantly; therefore, we cultivated peppers following EFA- and conventional methods and compared their antioxidant activities. To accomplish this, the environmental-friendly cultivated peppers (EFPE) and conventionally cultivated peppers (CCPE) were extracted with 70% methanol and the effects of the extracts on the cell viability, intracellular ROS generation, lipid peroxidation and catalase activity of HepG2 cells were evaluated. EFPE showed a stronger protective effect against oxidative stress induced-cell death than that of CCPE. EFPE also reduced intracellular ROS generation (42.7% to 26.4%) following treatment with hydrogen peroxide more effectively than that of CCPE (24.2% to 6.3%). Furthermore, EFPE and CCPE showed protective effects against lipid peroxidation and induced catalase activity, although these effects were not statistically significant. Taken together, these results suggest that EFPE showed stronger antioxidant activities than CCPE, and thus represent evidence that EFA with biocontrol materials may improve the functional properties of crops and/or secondary metabolites with antioxidant activities when compared with conventional agricultural practices.

Diagnosis of Managerial Ability of Farmers Practicing Environmental Friendly Agriculture (친환경농업 실천농가의 경영능력 진단)

  • This study diagnosed the managerial ability of farmers in the Gokseong area and the Gwangyang area, and analysis was conducted especially placing focus on the difference in managerial ability on whether environmental friendly agriculture has been implemented or not. According to the analysis results, the average score of all the farmers was 63.9 out of the full score of 100 which can be seen to be a medium to high standard. Also, in the diagnosis results according to whether environmental friendly agriculture has been implemented or not, the ability scores of farmers practicing environmental friendly agriculture were higher than those who were not, but large differences between the item scores for information ability and cooperative ability were shown. This is connoting a very important meaning in terms of the point that correspondence is being made to the conditions required to possess market response capabilities to the high information systemization society to unfold in the future. As a result, the important issue can be seen to be personnel cultivation in order to possess self response capabilities through the development of education programs that can improve this kind of managerial ability and revision of support systems.

Developing Strategies of Environmental-Friendly Agriculture Around the Chuam Dam (주암댐 주변지역의 친환경농업 실태와 발전방안)

  • The objectives of this study are to find out, the fact-analysis of environmental friendly farm households around the Chuam Dam through the sample survey, 2) the developing strategies to improve the EPA on the assumption that is the conservation of Chuam Dam's water quality. The data used in this study comes from 75 sample farm households. The developing strategies to improve the EPA around Chuam Dam was found out that the efficiency measure of land utilization around CImam Dam, producing of high quality and safety agricultural products, promoting of the EPA connected with tourist agriculture, improving of the EPA products and supporting of price and income. In conclusion, there must be strategic measures to increase the income of environmental friendly farmers and to conserve the Chuam Dam's water quality.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the satisfaction and the perception of school food service using environmental-friendly agricultural product of elementary, middle and high school students and parents. We surveyed related to satisfaction of school food service, perception of environmental-friendly agricultural product and perception of school food service using environmental-friendly agricultural product. As a result, the majority of students and parents want to expand the school food service using environmental-friendly agricultural product. Also It was analyzed that the use of environmental-friendly agricultural products would increase school food service satisfaction. In other words, the using environmental-friendly products in school food service experience positive effects thorough school food service, it will give a positive effect on the satisfaction of school food service. As a results of this study contribute to making policy about expansion school food service.

  • This work is for listing, patent, reasonable valuation of environmental-friendly agricultural company. In this study, agricultural company in environmental friendly industry that consider nature, customer's wellbeing and safe would be evaluated by DCF (Discounted Cash Flow) and ROV (Real Option Value). And company in environmental-friendly industry would be checked whether it is to be related and concerned to listing in the stock market and patent acquisition with the basis of company valuation. After then agricultural company value is evaluated with the consideration of growth in environmental-friendly industry, and company valuation comparison would followed about intellectual property right. It can be assumed that value of environmental-friendly agricultural company has low relation and concern to listing of stock market, and valuation would be increased through the intellectual property right such as patent, development or core search ability.
