A Study on the CSMA/CA Performance Improvement based IEEE 802.15.6 (IEEE 802.15.6 기반 CSMA/CA 성능 향상에 관한 연구)

  • MAC protocol for WBAN performs CSMA/CA(:Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance)algorithm that handles traffic which occurs in emergency with top priority in order to deal with variable data of sensor node for medicine. Emergency message that node sends undergoes collision and delay of transmission by retransmission of emergency message and waste of energy by retransmission. This paper suggests algorithm that minimizes loss of frame caused by collision and applies different backoff parameters by setting order of priority between MAC instruction frame and data frame in CSMA/CA algorithm case which applies order of priority queuing to improve aforementioned problem. According to performance evaluation, it has been found that using suggested MAC protocol showed lower collision probability, higher packet transmission processing ratio and lower packet loss compared with using IEEE 802.15.6.

Random Backoff Scheme of Emergency Warning Message for Vehicle-to-Vehicle Communications (차량 간 통신에서 충돌을 완화하기 위한 랜덤 백오프 방안)

  • In this paper, we propose a random backoff scheme for Emergency Warning Messages (EWMs) in the vehicle-to-vehicle environment. The EWMs are disseminated from a vehicle that detects an emergency situation to other vehicles in a multi-hop fashion. Since the vehicle-to-vehicle communication based on IEEE 802.11 adapts CSMA/CA, the density of vehicles increase the probability of collisions between transmissions. Moreover, in the presence of background traffic, the EWM should have a higher priority than that of other messages in neighboring vehicles. To that end, we propose the Distant-Dependent Adaptive Backoff (DDAB) scheme, which set a different contention window for random backoff depending on the distance from the sender to the receiver. In the case when a vehicle is expected to located in the outskirts of the communication boundary, the proposed scheme makes the contention window size small in order to compete the background traffic transmission. Otherwise the contention window is set to a large number to reduce the collision possibility among the EWM transmissions. Via simulations, we show that the proposed scheme performs better than the previous schemes for EWM.

Application of Social Media for Responding to a National Disaster (국가적 재난 대응에 있어서의 소셜 미디어 활용 방안 연구)

  • On 11 March 2011, earthquake occurred in Japan were left with the significant human and material damage. Among these, social media has emerged as a very useful communication channel by playing a important roles in the process of safety checking and disaster recovery. In fact, however, we have no specific response methods or systems to these occurrence of disaster in Korea. Therefore, we investigate the relevant literature in order to analyze the current status of foreign and domestic utilization of social media, and draw the ideal ways to use social media for responding to unpredictable disasters based on the relevant literature reviews. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, Institutions such as Meteorological Administration or National Emergency Management Agency are able to utilize social media as the communication systems to public in emergency. Second, social media are able to used for building disaster information systems including location information such as emergency call for help or requests for dissemination materials. Lastly, online donation services via Facebook or Twitter are able to be provided. The findings have significant implications for official responsible for disaster response and academic researchers.

EMT-Paramedic Student's Attitude to the Disabled (응급구조과 학생들의 장애인에 대한 태도)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the EMT student's attitude to the disabled and provide the basic materials of educational program to make them have right awareness and attitude of the disabled. Methods: The subjects of this study were 348 of 339 emergency medical students at three departments of emergency medical in G metropolitan city who gave consent to take part in the research and the data were collected for 10 days from Mar. 2 to 11, 2011. It used DFS (Disability Factor Scale) developed by Siller (1967) and revised and complemented by Lee Jong Nam (1997) after validity and reliability test. Data collected were analyzed with technical statistics, t-test and ANOVA using SPSS/ PC 12.0 Results: The results of this study are summarized as follows. 1. On the question that there are the disabled around the subjects, 74.7% of the respondents answered 'none', and on the question of having concerns on the disabled problems, 61.5% of the respondents answered 'they have no concerns on them'. In addition, on the question of effective methods for improving a negative awareness of the disabled, many of subjects responded the governmental support must be a priority. 2. The subjects' attitude to the disabled scored average 3.13 and they have positive attitude to the disabled. In six sub-areas of attitude to the disabled, tension in contact with the disabled scored 2.90, inferred emotional disorder 2.79, unconditional repulsion 2.78, refusal to friendly relation 2.74, limitation of other functions undamaged 2.66 and distorted identification 2.65. 3. Variable showing a significant difference in the results of analysis according to general characteristics of subjects was age and those who are over '21' showed more positive attitude to the disabled than those who are below '20'. 4. In the results of analysis according to the subjects' disability related characteristics, those who have the disabled in their friends or family and have concerns on the disabled problems have a positive attitude to the disabled. Promotion and education through mass communication for changing the awareness of the disabled into a positive attitude will be most effective. Conclusion: Consequently, positive attitude of EMT student's to the disabled can be fostered by continuous contact with the disabled and their participation in voluntary services in the dimension of individual or school will be important and also the various practical methods such as enlightenment movement and supply of right information through mass communication should be sought.

The Relationship of Violence Experience with Psychosocial Stress and Burnout in 119 Emergency Medical Technicians in the ICT Age (ICT 시대에서 119 구급대원의 폭력경험과 사회심리적 스트레스 및 소진의 연관성)

  • This study aimed to identify correlations among experience of violence, psychosocial stress and exhaustion in emergency medical technicians. In total, 393 emergency medical technicians were participated in the survey using an organized essay-type questionnaire. To determine psychosocial stress and exhaustion factors, a linear regression analysis was performed. In results, psychosocial stress factors were work units, the hope to keeping working in the present department, and verbal violence ($R^2=12.9%$), and the exhaustion factors were hope to keeping working at the present department, work units, and verbal violence ($R^2=14.5%$). In conclusion, it is suggested that strategies to deal with violence against subjects are educational programs to prevent violence and emotional support programs to decrease psychosocial stress, as well measures to improve the emergency rescue environment should be developed.

A Study of Call Service Mechanism on SIP for Emergency Communication Services (긴급통신서비스 제공을 위한 SIP에서의 호 서비스 메커니즘에 관한 연구)

  • As the development of the various IP-based services, it is expected that Internet telephony service will gradually replace the traditional PSTN-based telephony service. But there are many issues resolved to spread the Internet telephony service. One of them is to support the emergency services in the Internet telephony. In the case of USA, it has been regulated that 911 services should be supported in the Internet telephony services using VoIP on the similar performance level to PSTN 911 service. According to the regulation, basic VoIP 911 calls should be routed to the general access line of LEA without the location information or the callback number, but the enhanced VoIP 911 calls with the location information and callback number should be routed on the dedicated 911 network and destined to the local 911 distribution center such as PSAP. But, in the current VoIP-based Internet telephony network, the emergency call service has not been handled as one of the special services as well at has a worse performance in comparison to it on PSTN. Moreover, the service has a critical problem that it can not be destined to the nearest PSAP because of the insufficient information about the location information and the call back number. In this paper, we suggest the SIP-based emergency call service mechanism in order to resolve the problems above mentioned. This suggested mechanism is implemented to show its effectiveness and efficiency.

Vehicle Communication System Implementation for u-TSN and Its Performance Evaluations (u-TSN에서 차량 통신시스템 구성 및 성능평가)

  • In u-TSN environment, the communication between vehicle terminal and roadside equipment is very important to support prompt service and to secure road traffic information in real-time upon organizing traffic system. This study suggested V2I or I2V communication service scenario for performance test on vehicle communication system as well as V2V inter-vehicle communication service scenario for emergency information transmission which requires rapidity and accuracy. After implementing real inter-vehicle communication system, we performed vehicle communication experiment following suggested communication service scenario to test the performance. Consequently, we could draw out the optimal transmission mode setup condition, and the result can be applied to the development of stable and efficient u-TSN vehicle communication system.

  • The public address system should be easily operated and managed by the users, and guaranteed to serve stable working in an emergency and a crisis. In this paper, In this paper, to provide power line communication based public address system users with convenience and efficiency, we implement a firmware to control communication between a PLC(: Power Line Communication) controller of the public address system and UI(: User Interface) and between a PLC controller of the public address system and PLC speakers, and develop a UI software.

  • VoIP 서비스에서 긴급통화 서비스는 사용자 단말의 위치 정보(Location Information)와 사용자 식별번호를 긴급 호에 실어 긴급 대응 센터에 보내는 서비스이다. VoIP 긴급통화 서비스를 위하여 긴급 호발생 시 위치를 획득하여야 하며, 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 RFC 4776기반의 DHCP 옵션 확장하여 VoIP 단말의 위치 정보를 획득하는 방법을 구현하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 스마트 홈 기반 노약자 응급상황 탐지 및 대응 시스템을 설계하였다. 2 개의 레이다 센서를 활용하여 센서 데이터를 분석하고 분류하며, 사용자의 상태를 취침, 외출, 응급상황 총 3 가지 경우로 식별한다. AWS 서버의 데이터베이스를 통해 응급상황 및 낙상 감지 이력을 축적하여 맞춤형 서비스를 제공한다. 어플리케이션을 통해 응급상황 자동 신고 접수와 센서 오작동시 자동 신고 접수 수동 취소 기능을 제공하는 응급상황 탐지 및 대응 시스템을 소개한다.
