  • The purpose of this study was to suggest implications by defining the concepts of school-level autonomy capacity (SAC) and by analyzing the teacher's perception on it. For the study, a survey was employed. The data generating sample consisted of 260 elementary and secondary school teachers, and the data was analyzed in the categories such as schools' level and characteristics as well as teachers' status and experience. As a result, the study indicated that there were highly statistical significances in the categories of teachers' status and experience, while there were no statistical significances in the category of schools' characteristics. The conclusions drawn from the study were as follows: First, the more educational authorities for school autonomy should be expanded and transferred to the schools in order to enhance the strategic capacity of SAC. Second, in order to enhance the human resource capacity of SAC, the educational environment encouraging teachers' professional development should be stabilized. Third, the school organizational culture should be reorganized transformatively and creatively in order to enhance the organizational management capacity of SAC.

  • The concept and measuring activities of the height of figures are essential to find the areas or volumes of the corresponding figures. For plane figures, the height of a triangle is defined to be the line segment from a vertex that is perpendicular to the opposite side of the triangle, whereas the height of a parallelogram(trapezoid) is defined to be the distance between two parallel sides. For the solid figures, the height of a prism is defined to be the distance of two parallel bases, whereas the height of a pyramid is defined to be the perpendicular distance from the apex to the base. In addition, the height of a cone is defined to be the length of the line segment from the apex that is perpendicular to the base and the height of a cylinder is defined to be the length of the line segment that is perpendicular to two parallel bases. In this study, we discuss some pedagogical problems on the concepts and measuring activities of the height of figures to provide alternative activities and suggest their educational implications from a teaching and learning point of view.

  • The basic direction of mathematical education for the 21st century is focused on helping student to understand mathematics and developing their problem solving abilities, mathematical disposition and mathematical thinking. Elementary mathematics teachers should help students make sense of mathematics, confident of their ability, and make learning environment comfortable for students to participate in. Through making activities 1 to 100 with digits 1,9,9,6, students improved the interest and preference of students about mathematics. This game is useful to foster students' mathematical thinking(concepts of exponential number expression, roots concept(${\sqrt}$), gauss function([])) and mathematical disposition. If students are helped to be interested in mathematics through mathematical games, they regard mathematics as interesting and challengeable subject to let themselves think many ways.

  • This study is to analyze the effects of child's inner risk factors and outer risk factors intermediated by self concept on his or her resiliency at-risk. For this study, the total of 500 students in their fifth and sixth grade of elementary schools in Busan and their parents were sampled, and a measurement tool is question district court. The questionnaire for the parents measured risk factors, and the questionnaire for the students measured self-concept and about the resiliency at-risk. The SPSS for Win 12.0 and AMOS 5.0 were used to analyze the collected data. The result of this study is as follows; First, there is a significant correlation between the sub-factors of inner risk factors, which shows that the risks of students are caused not just by one of the parents but by both of them. Second, all three variables, that is, inner risk factors, self-concepts, and the resiliency at-risk, closely interact one another. The less inner risk factors of the students, the more positive their self-concept and the more the resiliency to the risk. Third, the higher the socioeconomic status (outer risk factors) and the lower the degree of risk of the family, the more positive the self-concept of the students. Fourth, the higher the socioeconomic status(outer risk factors) and the lower the degree of risk of the family, the more the resiliency to the risk.

  • The purpose of this study is to inquire the technique of creative problem solving based on OTSM-TRIZ. This is necessary to construct and design the contents that can improve the creative thinking skill for preschool students. So the study contents of this paper are as follows : First, it is to understand the concepts of creative problem solving. Second, it is to examine the theoretical background of OTSM-TRIZ. Third, it is to analysis the educational cases based on OTSM-TRIZ. Particularly, this study investigated Russian educational cases which targeted preschool students. OTSM-TRIZ is problem solving tool that TRIZ had to be transformed into the 'General Theory of Strong Thinking'. At present, this tool is applied on the educational program for thinking creatively at kindergarten, elementary school, middle and high school. And TRIZ is the thinking technique of creative problem solving that can be the tool of inventory solutions by finding and get over the key of contradiction that is necessary to obtain ideal final results of suggested problems.

  • The purpose of this study is to confirm constructivists' assumption that when a little low level learners are taken in learner-centered instruction based on a constructivism they can also construct knowledge by themselves. To achieve this purpose, the researchers compare the effects of learner-centered instruction based on the constructivism and teacher-centered instruction based on the objective epistemology where second graders learn multiplication facts through the each treatment on learners' reasoning ability and achievement. Some conclusions are drawn from results as follows. First, learner-centered instruction based on a constructivism has significant effect on learners' reasoning ability. Second, learner-centered instruction has slightly positive effect on learners' deductive reasoning ability. Third, learner-centered instruction has more an positive influence on understanding concepts and principles of not-presented mathematical knowledge than teacher-centered instruction when implementing it with a little low level learners.

  • This study is the consideration to 'The Data' and 'On Divisions' of Euclid which is the historical start of analysis and synthesis. 'The Data' and 'On Divisions' compared to Euclid's Elements is not interested. In this study, analysis and synthesis were examined for significance. In this study, means for 'analysis' and 'synthesis' were examined through an analysis of 'The Data' and 'On Divisions'. First, the various terms including analysis and synthesis were examined and the concepts of the terms were analyzed. Then, analysis was divided into 'external analysis' and 'internal analysis'. And synthesis was divided into 'theoretical synthesis' and 'empirical synthesis'. On the basis of this classification problem presented in elementary textbooks and the practical applications were explored.

  • Recently, 3S Mathematics Education (Storytelling mathematics education, SMART mathematics education, and STEAM mathematics education) is emphasized. Based on recently published report on Storytelling mathematics textbook, we propose executable expression based SMART storytelling mathematics related to the elementary mathematic curriculum on 3D building blocks. We designed letters and expressions to represent three dimensional shape of 3D building blocks, and we compare its characteristics with that of LEGO blocks. We assert that text-based executable expressions not only construct what students want to make but also teachers can read students thinking process and can support educational help based on students needs. We also present linear function, quadratic function, and function variable concepts using executable expressions based on 3D building block as an example of SMART storytelling mathematics. This research was supported by the collaborated creativity mentoring project between Siheung City and college of education at Seoul National University. We hope designed executable expressions can be used for the development of SMART storytelling mathematics education.

  • In this research, the researcher uses semiotic methods in order to analyze the essential aspects of educational games. The basic concepts of semiotics and their relevance to education are explored, as well as how signs are shown in a particular educational game is examined. Several semiotic theories which can assist in analyzing educational game are examined. Roller coaster Tycoon2, an educational game, is analyzed using Peirce's semiology in which education is defined in terms of signs and semiosis. As a result of analyzing Roller Coaster Tycoon2, a educational game, through Peirces semiology, the game was found to contain all the different types of signs. It contains the three types of signs (sign, object, interpretant) as well as firstness, secondness, and thirdness. Especially, the second and third has a major part in Roller Coaster Tycoon2. The sign of the second is assists in logical and creative thinking, the third is assists in creative. It appears often in the game due to the real-time strategy game environment in which problems are solved by planning logical strategies after considering the relationship between several signs.
