  • We characterized nanoelectrode arrays prepared from self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) by adsorption from a solution containing thiolated $\beta$-cyclodextrin ($\beta$-CD) and n-alkanethiol on the gold electrode surface, using electrochemical methods. While the framework, the n-hexadecanethiol SAM, effectively blocked electron transfer between the electrode surface and solution-phase redox probe molecules, the $\beta$-CD cavities isolated in the forests of n-hexadecanethiol molecules were shown to act as an ultramicroelectrode array. The shapes of cyclic voltammograms of probe molecules were related to the number densities of $\beta$-CD molecules within the monolayer films. Probe molecules that have the correct combination of physical and chemical characteristics were shown to effectively penetrate the framework through the $\beta$-CD pores and exchange electrons with the electrode surface.

  • We report the transparentsilver nanowire electrode fabricated by a direct printing process, liquid-bridge-mediated nanotransfer molding. We fabricated silver nanowire arrays by liquidbridge- mediated nanotransfer molding using the silver nanoparticle ink and PEDOT:PSS polymer. Weinvestigated the formation of silver nanowire arrays by SEM and transmittance of the transparent silver nanowire electrode. We also measured the conductivity to confirm the potential of our approach.

  • The process conditions for fabricating p-type silicon pillars were optimized by controlling current density, bath temperature. To get best process flexibility for pillar arrays formation, three factors affecting pillar formation were changed. First, the solution bath was designed to keep constant temperature during the experiment irrespective of external temperature. Second, the counter Pt electrode was changed from rod type to mesh to obtain uniform distribution of current density. Third, Cr-Cu alloy electrode instead of Cu was used to increase electrode current density.

  • The accurate measurement of soil resistivity and earthing system resistance is fundamental to electrical safety. However, geological and meterological factors can have a considerable effect on the accuracy of conventional measurements and the validity of the measurement methods. This paper presents optimization method of dc resistivity data acquisition system using multi-electrode arrays.

  • A volcano shaped gated Si-FEA (silicon field emitter array) was simply fabricated using sputtering as a gate electrode deposition and lift-off for the removal of the oxide mask, respectively. Due to the limited step coverage of well-controlled sputtering and the high aspect ratio in Si dry etch caused by high RF power, it was possible to obtain Si FEAs with a stable volcano shaped gate structure and to realize the restriction of gate leakage current in field emission characteristics. For 100 tip arrays and 625 tip arrays, gate leakage currents were restricted to less than 1% of the anode current in spite of the volcano-shaped gate structure. It was also possible to keep the emitters stable without any failure between the Si cathode and gate electrode in field emission for a long time.

  • Recently, electrical resistivity survey is used in the various fields and applied to urban area with many electrical noises. Therefor it's necessary to observe the electrical noise effect of the geological structure. The physical scale modeling was conducted for measuring the electric noise effect of the two geological models at various distances, depths and diameters of the electric noise objects. The results are as following. 1. When conductive noise object was vertical to the strike of geological structure and moved to the strike direction, the effect of conductive noise object at various separated distances to the measurement line was disappeared at a half distance measurement line length regardless of electrode arrays. 2. When conductive noise object was vertical to the strike of geological structure and moved to the strike direction, the effect of conductive noise object at various depths was disappeared at 4unit apart from the measurement line regardless of electrode arrays. 3. When conductive noise object was vertical to the strike of geological structure and moved to the strike direction, the effect of conductive noise object at various diameters was disappeared at 4unit apart from the measurement line regardless of electrode arrays.

  • As biosensors are widely used in the medical field, flexible devices compatible with live animals have aroused great interest. Especially, significant research has been carried out to develop implantable or skin-attachable devices for real-time bio-signal sensing. From the device point of view, various biosensor types such as field-effect transistors (FETs) and multi-electrode arrays (MEAs) have been reported as diverse sensing strategies. In particular, the flexible FETs and MEAs allow semiconductor engineering to expand its application, which had been impossible with stiff devices and materials. This review summarizes the state-of-the-art research on flexible FET and MEA biosensors focusing on their materials, structures, sensing targets, and methods.
