Sixth, the program should take advantage of the physical and human resources in the pre-service teacher's community. Seventh, the program should employ circular and formative evaluation of contents and teaching methods as a way of facilitating development and improvement. This study develops and demonstrates an extensive model program that fits these criteria. Also included is discussion related to further studies.
The purpose of this study was to develop a "Happiness Scale for School-aged Korean Children" (HSSKC). Participants consisted of 2,528 children who were chosen from six places, namely: Seoul, Gyeonggi, Chungnam, Jeonnam, Gyeongnam, and Gangwon. The province of Jeju-do was not included. The study assessed children's perception of happiness in six areas of life. For data analysis, the study employed the following methods: descriptive statistics, factor analysis, correlation, and Cronbach's $\alpha$. Initially, the study used an original scale composed of 32 items, but these were later reduced to 29 through exploratory factor analysis. The study identified six factors which influenced the happiness of school-aged children: (1) self-esteem, (2) parent-child relationship, (3) school life, (4) after-school activities, (5) general living environment, and (6) satisfaction of needs. Validity was determined through correlating the sub-factors. Using Cronbach' $\alpha$ to measure the reliability of factors, the result ranged from .60 to 81.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences between the kindergarten teachers and teachers working at child care centers in terms of their professionalism, teaching efficacy and their perceptions regarding the integration of kindergarten and child care centers. Furthermore, this study examined whether those differences which were revealed were found between the subjects by their college major degree and place of employment. The 598 teachers who served as subjects for this study completed self-administered questionnaires. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, chi-square tests and t-tests. The main results were as follows. The significant differences were found between the subgroups by college major degree in teaching efficacy and perceptions regarding the integration system. In addition, the subjects from child care centers had higher levels of teaching efficacy than their counterparts in other work environments, even though they had majored in the same subjects of early childhood education.
This study was designed to examine the relationships between empowerment and child care teachers' intention of teaching, the reason for teaching intent. The subjects were 181 child care teachers from Chungcheongnamdo and the city of Daejeon, Korea. This study was conducted using questionnaires. The results were as follows: first, there were significant relationships between empowerment and child care teachers' intention of teaching and, the reason for teaching intent. The subjects were 364 3rd grade students (boys, 218; girls, 146) and 368 6th grade students (boys, 186; girls, 182), that is, a total of 732 students from three elementary schools. Data were collected on bullying, victimization, peer relationships (mutual friendship, mutual antipathy, and peer popularity), depression, and aggression (overt aggression and relationship aggression) from July 12, 2012 to July 13, 2012. These data were analyzed by means of a chi-squared analysis, t-test, and a logistic regression analysis. The results revealed that there were differences by sex in the case of direct bullying and victimization but no differences in the case of indirect bullying and victimization. Among boys, the factors influencing direct bullying were depression and overt aggression, and the factor influencing direct/indirect victimization was depression. Among girls, the factors influencing direct bullying were mutual antipathy relations and relational aggression, the factors influencing indirect victimization were mutual antipathy relations and peer popularity, the factor influencing indirect bullying was mutual antipathy relations, and the factor influencing indirect victimization was peer popularity. The results of this study showed that the factors influencing bullying and victimization are differences in sex. The present study aimed to identify the variables related to paternal participation in child-rearing. For this purpose, 543 fathers of young children living in the seven biggest cities in Korea were invited to participate in the internet survey and completed questionnaires assessing marital and job satisfaction. Their temperament was measured with the EAS Temperament Survey(Buss & Plomin, 1984). The result of this research showed that both the marital and job satisfaction of the fathers affected their parenting participation. And also, marital satisfaction was more strongly associated with the fathers' parenting participation than job satisfaction. All temperament types of the fathers had moderating effects and there were significant differences according to their temperament. This study provides the key factors which have an influence on paternal involvement in parenting and also suggests that the temperament of the father should be considered for participation in parenting.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the reading habits, reading patterns and reading motivation of 362 college students from the capital area majoring in child development or early childhood education. The main findings of this study were as follows. Firstly, 70 percent of students spent less than three hours a week on reading academic or school-related material, and 75 percent spent less than three hours a week on independent or recreational reading. Students most preferred reading the "cultural" genre and least preferred reading the "human life(spiritual)" genre. The "cultural" and the "human life(spiritual)" genres also represented the most and least frequently read genres, respectively. Secondly, students presented high-level reading patterns, in that they previewed the reading material before reading, understood the meaning of it during reading, and shared their reading experience with others after reading. Thirdly, the average reading motivation levels scored near the midpoint on a five-point scale. Fourthly, students with higher reading motivation levels displayed higher reading frequencies and preference levels for each genre, with the exception of the "fiction and humor" genre. Moreover, students with higher levels of reading motivation received higher ratings for their reading patterns.
