  • Let a graph G = (V, E) be a (p, q) graph. Define $${\rho}=\{\array{{\frac{p}{2}} & \;\;p\text{ is even} \\ {\frac{p-1}{2}} & \;\;p\text{ is odd,}$$ and M = {±1, ±2, … ± ρ} called the set of labels. Consider a mapping λ : V → M by assigning different labels in M to the different elements of V when p is even and different labels in M to p - 1 elements of V and repeating a label for the remaining one vertex when p is odd. The labeling as defined above is said to be a pair mean cordial labeling if for each edge uv of G, there exists a labeling ${\frac{{\lambda}(u)+{\lambda}(v)}{2}}$ if λ(u) + λ(v) is even and ${\frac{{\lambda}(u)+{\lambda}(v)+1}{2}}$ if λ(u) + λ(v) is odd such that ${\mid}{\bar{{\mathbb{S}}}}_{\lambda}{_1}-{\bar{{\mathbb{S}}}}_{{\lambda}^c_1}{\mid}{\leq}1$ where ${\bar{{\mathbb{S}}}}_{\lambda}{_1}$ and ${\bar{{\mathbb{S}}}}_{{\lambda}^c_1}$ respectively denote the number of edges labeled with 1 and the number of edges not labeled with 1. A graph G for which there exists a pair mean cordial labeling is called a pair mean cordial graph. In this paper, we investigate the pair mean cordial labeling behavior of few graphs including the closed helm graph, web graph, jewel graph, sunflower graph, flower graph, tadpole graph, dumbbell graph, umbrella graph, butterfly graph, jelly fish, triangular book graph, quadrilateral book graph.

  • E2 glycoprotein of hepatitis C virus (HCV) comprises a surface of viral particle together with E1 glycoprotein, and is thought to be involved in the attachment of HCV viral particle to receptor (s) on the permissible cells including hepatocytes, B cells, T cells, and monocytes. We constructed a phage library expressing cellular proteins of hepatocytes on the phage surface, which turned out to be 8.8${\times}$$10^5$ cfu of diversity and carried inserts in 95% of library. We screened both cDNA phage library and 12-mer peptide library to identify the cellular proteins binding to E2 protein. Some intracellular proteins including tensin and membrane band 4.1 which are involved in signal transduction of survival and cytoskeleton organization, were selected from cDNA phage library through several rounds of panning and screening. On the contrary, membrane proteins such as CCR7, CKR-L2, and insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor were identified through screening of peptide library. Phages expressing peptides corresponding to those membrane proteins were bound to E2 protein specifically as determined by neutralization of binding assay. Since it is well known that HCV can infect T cells as well as hepatocytes, we examined to see if E2 protein can bind to CCR7, a member of C-protein coupled receptor family expressed on T cells, using CCR7 transfected tells. Human CCR7 cDNA was cloned into pcDNA3.1(-) vector and transfected into human embryonic kidney cell, 293T, and expressed on the surface of the cell as shown by flow cytometer. Binding assay of E2 protein using CCR7 transfected cells indicated that E2 protein bound to CCR7 by dose-dependent mode, giving rise to the possibility that CCR7 might be a putative cellular receptor for HCV.

  • A graph G = (V, E) is called super edge-magic if there exists a one-to-one map $\lambda$ from V $\cup$ E onto {1,2,3,...,|V|+|E|} such that $\lambda$(V)={1,2,...,|V|} and $\lambda(x)+\lambda(xy)+\lambda(y)$ is constant for every edge xy. In this paper, we investigate whether some families of graphs are super edge-magic or not.

  • In this paper we propose new large-update primal-dual inte-rior point algorithms for $P_*(\kappa)$ linear complementarity problems(LCPs). New search directions and proximity measures are proposed based on the kernel function$\psi(t)=\frac{t^{p+1}-1}{p+1}+\frac{e^{\frac{1}{t}}-e}{e}$,$p{\in}$[0,1]. We showed that if a strictly feasible starting point is available, then the algorithm has $O((1+2\kappa)(logn)^{2}n^{\frac{1}{p+1}}log\frac{n}{\varepsilon}$ complexity bound.

  • Let ${X(t) : 0 \leq t < \infty}$ be an almost surely continuous Gaussian process with X(0) = 0, E{X(t)} = 0 and stationary increments $E{X(t) - X(s)}^2 = \sigma^2($\mid$t - s$\mid$)$, where $\sigma(y)$ is a function of $y \geq 0(e.g., if {X(t);0 \leq t < \infty}$ is a standard Wiener process, then $\sigma(t) = \sqrt{t})$. Assume that $\sigma(t), t > 0$, is a nondecreasing continuous, regularly varying function at infinity with exponent $\gamma$ for some $0 < \gamma < 1$.

  • A set {a1, a2, …, am} of positive integers is called a Diophantine m-tuple if aiaj + 1 is a perfect square for all 1 ≤ i < j ≤ m. In this paper, we find the structure of a torsion group of elliptic curves Ek constructed by a Diophantine triple {F2k, F2k+2, 4F2k+1F2k+2F2k+3}, and find all integer points on the elliptic curve under assumption that rank(Ek(ℚ)) = 2.

  • Purpose: This study examined the effects of Sargassum horneri extracts on palmitic acid (PA)-induced endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in HepG2 cells. Methods: HepG2 cells were treated with varying concentrations of S. horneri extract or PA, and the cell viability was measured by water soluble tetrazolium salts analysis. The effective induction of ER stress and the effects of S. horneri were investigated through an examination of the ER stress-related genes, such as activating transcription factor 4 (ATF4), X-box binding protein (XBP1s), C/EBP homologous protein (CHOP), and 78-kDa glucose-regulated protein (GRP78) by quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. The expression and activation levels of unfolded protein response (UPR) associated proteins, such as inositol-requiring enzyme-1α (IRE1α), eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2 alpha submit (eIF2α), and CHOP were examined by western blot analysis. Results: The treatment with PA increased the expression of UPR associated genes significantly and induced ER stress in a 12-hour treatment. Subsequent treatment with S. horneri reduced mRNA expression of ATF4, GRP78, and XBP1s. In addition, the protein levels of phosphate (p)-IRE1α, p-elF2α, and CHOP were also reduced by a treatment with S. horneri. An analysis of sirtuin (SIRT) mRNA expression in the S. horneri and PA-treated HepG2 cells showed that S. horneri increased the levels of SIRT2, SIRT6, and SIRT7, which indicates a possible role in reducing the expression of ER stress-related genes. Conclusion: These data indicate that S. horneri can exert an inhibitory effect on ER stress caused by PA and highlight its potential as an agent for managing various ER stress-related diseases.

  • In this study, temporal variations of the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer E (AMSR-E) soil moisture products were evaluated using ground based measurements from the Haenam flux monitoring network site for two years (2004 and 2006). Even if there were major comparison issues including spatial resolutions, AMSR-E soil moisture production showed a great potential to replicate temporal variability patterns with ground based measurements. Additional intensive validation efforts should be conducted at a variety of field conditions including vegetation type for better utilization of remotely sensed soil moisture and understanding of the land surface-atmosphere interactions in the view of hydrometeorology.

  • Let $\mathcal{A}$ be a Banach ternary algebra over a scalar field R or C and $\mathcal{X}$ be a ternary Banach $\mathcal{A}$-module. A quartic mapping $D\;:\;(\mathcal{A},[\;]_{\mathcal{A}}){\rightarrow}(\mathcal{X},[\;]_{\mathcal{X}})$ is called a $4^{th}$- order ternary derivation if $D([x,y,z])=[D(x),y^4,z^4]+[x^4,D(y),z^4]+[x^4,y^4,D(z)]$ for all $x,y,z{\in}\mathcal{A}$. In this paper, we prove Ulam stability generalizations of $4^{th}$- order ternary derivations associated to the following JMRassias quartic functional equation on fr$\acute{e}$che algebras: $$f(kx+y)+f(kx-y)=k^2[f(x+y)+f(x-y)]+2k^2(k^2-1)f(x)-2(k^2-1)f(y)$$.

  • In order to obtain the basic data for design of water structures which can be contributed to the planning of water use. Best fitted distribution function and the equations for the probable minimum flow were derived to the annual minimum flow of five subwatersheds along Geum River basin. The result were analyzed and summarized as follows. 1. Type III extremal distribution was considered as a best fit one among some other distributions such as exponential and two parameter lognormal distribution by $x^2$-goodness of fit test. 2. The minimum flow are analyzed by Type III extremal distribution which contains a shape parameter $\lambda$, a location parameter ${\beta}$ and a minimum drought $\gamma$. If a minimum drought $\gamma=0$, equations for the probable minimum flow, $D_T$, were derived as $D_T={\beta}e^{\lambda}1^{y'}$, with two parameters and as $D_T=\gamma+(\^{\beta}-\gamma)e^{{\lambda}y'}$ with three parameters in case of a minimum drought ${\gamma}>0$ respectively. 3. Probable minimum flow following the return periods for each stations were also obtained by above mentioned equations. Frequency curves for each station are drawn in the text. 4. Mathematical equation with three parameters is more suitable one than that of two parameters if much difference exist between the maximum and the minimum value among observed data.
