이방성 암석에 대한 탄성계수의 실험적 결정 (Determination of Elastic Constants of Transversely Isotropic Rocks)

  • For transversely isotropic rocks such as schist, shale, etc, a method to determine the anisotropic elastic constants was proposed. Theoretically, equations of elastic constants E1, E2, and G2 can be derived from the measured strains in arbitrary three directions. If we attach three strain gages in accordance with the directons of anisotropy on the rock specimen under uni-axial compression, anisotropic elastic constants can be determined by these equations. With this method, the degree of anisotropy of transversely isotropic rocks will be easily evaluated by simple laboratory test.

  • In this paper we deal with the open problem posed by Lü, Li and Yang [10]. In fact, we prove the following result: Let f(z) be a transcendental meromorphic function of finite order having finitely many poles, c1, c2, …, cn ∈ ℂ\{0} and k, n ∈ ℕ. Suppose fn(z), f(z+c1)f(z+c2) ⋯ f(z+cn) share 0 CM and fn(z)-Q1(z), (f(z+c1)f(z+c2) ⋯ f(z+cn))(k) - Q2(z) share (0, 1), where Q1(z) and Q2(z) are non-zero polynomials. If n ≥ k+1, then $(f(z+c_1)f(z+c_2)\;{\cdots}\;f(z+c_n))^{(k)}\;{\equiv}\;{\frac{Q_2(z)}{Q_1(z)}}f^n(z)$. Furthermore, if Q1(z) ≡ Q2(z), then $f(z)=c\;e^{\frac{\lambda}{n}z}$, where c, λ ∈ ℂ \ {0} such that eλ(c1+c2+⋯+cn) = 1 and λk = 1. Also we exhibit some examples to show that the conditions of our result are the best possible.

Expression of Cytochrome P450 1A1, 1A2, 2C8, 2E1 and 3A4 in Human Brain

  • We have carried out PCR reactions to investigate if cytochrome P450 (P450) enzymes (1A1, 1A2, 2C8, 2E1 and 3A4), which are well hewn to be the key enzymes in detoxification process and/or synthesis of steroids in the liver, are expressed in the human brain, too. P450 1A1, 2C8 and 2E1 were expressed clearly. However, P450 1A2 and 3A4 were not detectable. Their expression levels in the human brain could be extremely low or they were not expressed at all. One base substitution at nucleotide 290 (A->G) was identified in P450 1A1. It is suspected to be an individual polymorphism. Our results should contribute to the better understanding of the role of cytochrome P450 enzymes in the human brain.

ENERGY FINITE SOLUTIONS OF ELLIPTIC EQUATIONS ON RIEMANNIAN MANIFOLDS

  • We prove that for any continuous function f on the s-harmonic (1{\infty})$ boundary of a complete Riemannian manifold M, there exists a solution, which is a limit of a sequence of bounded energy finite solutions in the sense of supremum norm, for a certain elliptic operator A on M whose boundary value at each s-harmonic boundary point coincides with that of f. If $E_1,\;E_2,...,E_{\iota}$ are s-nonparabolic ends of M, then we also prove that there is a one to one correspondence between the set of bounded energy finite solutions for A on M and the Cartesian product of the sets of bounded energy finite solutions for A on $E_i$ which vanish at the boundary ${\partial}E_{\iota}\;for\;{\iota}=1,2,...,{\iota}$

  • 본 논문에서는 800MHz대역의 TRS(Trunked Radio System)대역을 비롯한, GSM(Global System for Mobile telecommunication), CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) 대역을 통합할 수 있는 광대역 마이크로스트립 안테나를 설계하고자 한다. 그리고 선박 및 해상 안전에 상용 가능한 선박 기지국 중계기용 안테나를 설계하였다. 마이크로 스트립 안테나의 협대역을 개선하기 위해서 직사각형 패치에 U자 형태의 급전구조를 갖고, 그라운드와 급전 사이에 유전체(${\varepsilon}_T$ = 2.1), 패치와 급전 사이에는 유전체 (${\varepsilon}_T$ = 1)인 서로 다른 유전체를 사용하여 이중 공진 효과를 이용하였다. 설계된 안테나의 주파수 대역폭(VSWR 2:1)은 $780MHz{\sim}1.83GHz$로 2.61GHz의 광대역 특성을 보였으며. 또한 E-평면과 H-평면 모두 이득은 9.dBi이상. 3dB 빔폭은 E-평면 과 H-평면 $60^{\circ}$이상의 개선된 특성을 보였다.

Chikungunya Virus-Encoded nsP2, E2 and E1 Strongly Antagonize the Interferon-β Signaling Pathway

  • Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is a single-stranded positive-sense RNA virus, belonging to the genus Alphavirus of the Togaviridae family. It causes multiple symptoms, including headache, fever, severe joint and muscle pain, and arthralgia. Since CHIKV was first isolated in Tanzania in 1952, there have been multiple outbreaks of chikungunya fever. However, its pathogenesis and mechanisms of viral immune evasion have been poorly understood. In addition, the exact roles of individual CHIKV genes on the host innate immune response remain largely unknown. To investigate if CHIKV-encoded genes modulate the type I interferon (IFN) response, each and every CHIKV gene was screened for its effects on the induction of the IFN-β promoter. Here we report that CHIKV nsP2, E2 and E1 strongly suppressed activation of the IFN-β promoter induced by the MDA5/RIG-I receptor signaling pathway, suggesting that nsP2, E2, and E1 are the major antagonists against induction of IFN-β. Delineation of underlying mechanisms of CHIKV-mediated inhibition of the IFN-β pathway may help develop virus-specific therapeutics and vaccines.

  • In this paper we establish some recurrence relations satisfied by quotient moments of upper record values from the exponential distribution. Let $\{X_n,\;n{\geq}1\}$ be a sequence of independent and identically distributed random variables with a common continuous distribution function F(x) and probability density function(pdf) f(x). Entire Functions and Their Derivatives Share Two Finite Sets

  • In this paper, we study the uniqueness of entire functions and prove the following theorem. Let n(${\geq}$ 5), k be positive integers, and let $S_1$ = {z : $z^n$ = 1}, $S_2$ = {$a_1$, $a_2$, ${\cdots}$, $a_m$}, where $a_1$, $a_2$, ${\cdots}$, $a_m$ are distinct nonzero constants. If two non-constant entire functions f and g satisfy $E_f(S_1,2)$ = $E_g(S_1,2)$ and $E_{f^{(k)}}(S_2,{\infty})$ = $E_{g^{(k)}}(S_2,{\infty})$, then one of the following cases must occur: (1) f = tg, {$a_1$, $a_2$, ${\cdots}$, $a_m$} = t{$a_1$, $a_2$, ${\cdots}$, $a_m$}, where t is a constant satisfying $t^n$ = 1; (2) f(z) = $de^{cz}$, g(z) = $\frac{t}{d}e^{-cz}$, {$a_1$, $a_2$, ${\cdots}$, $a_m$} = $(-1)^kc^{2k}t\{\frac{1}{a_1},{\cdots},\frac{1}{a_m}\}$, where t, c, d are nonzero constants and $t^n$ = 1. The results in this paper improve the result given by Fang (M.L. Fang, Entire functions and their derivatives share two finite sets, Bull. Malaysian Math. Sc. Soc. 24(2001), 7-16).

  • A linear map T from a Banach algebra A into a Banach algebra B is almost multiplicative if $\left\$\mid$ T(fg) - T(f)T(g) \right\$\mid$ \leq \in\left\$\mid$ f \right\$\mid$\left\$\mid$ g \right\$\mid$(f,g \in A)$ for some small positive $\in$. B.E.Johnson [4,5] studied whether this implies that T is near a multiplicative map in the norm of operators from A into B. K. Jarosz [2,3] raised the conjecture : If T is an almost multiplicative functional on uniform algebra A, there is a linear and multiplicative functional F on A such that $\left\$\mid$ T - F \right\$\mid$ \leq \in', where \in' \to 0$ as $\in \to 0$. B. E. Johnson [4] gave an example of non-uniform commutative Banach algebra which does not have the property described in the above conjecture. He proved also that C(K) algebras and the disc algebra A(D) have this property [5]. We extend this property to a derivation on a Banach algebra.

배구경기 세터 토스 동작의 운동학적 비교분석 (Kinematic Variables Comparison of Setter Toss Motion on Volleyball According to Toss Types)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to analyze setter toss motion kinematically according to toss types. Method : Dependent variables were elapsed time, vertical displacement of the body center, the projected speed of the ball, and differences of the joint angle to the target for four setters positioning. Result : There was no significant difference in the time but the ball contact time was shorter when the toss distance of P3 was longer. There was significant difference in the vertical displacement of COM (p<.05). The vertical displacement of COM showed that the vertical movement gradually decreased when the quick distance was longer. The vertical displacement of COM was difference (p<.05), also there was difference of the ball speed (p<.001) at the Release point(E4). There was significant difference in the knee joint angle at a certain moment among the Release(E4) and Landing point(E5)(p<.05). The hip joint was significant difference among the Apex(E2), Ball Touch(E3), Release(E4), and the Landing point(E5) on the surface(E2, E3, E4 p<.05; E5 p<.005). The shoulder angle was significant difference among the Ball Touch(E3), Release(E4) and the Landing point(E5) on the surface(E3, E4 p<.05; E5 p<.001). The elbow was significant difference in the Apex(E2) (p<.05). The wrist was significant difference in the Release(E4) (p<.05). Conclusion : If we find the clue to expect the direction of the setter's ball, we have to fine the clues in the Apex(E2) that hip join and elbow, Ball Touch(E3) that hip joint and shoulder joint, Release(E4) that wrist, elbow, hip joint, and knee joint.
