Development and Implementation of Real Time Multibody Vehicle Dynamics Model (실시간 다물체 차량 동역학 모델 개발 및 구현)

  • A real time multibody vehicle dynamics model has been developed and implemented using a subsystem synthesis method based on recursive formulation. To verify real time simulation capability the developed model has been applied to HMMWV(High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle) with steering system. For the kinematically driven steering system, the coupled front suspension-steering subsystem can be decoupled into two SLA suspension subsystems, which improves the efficiency of simulation. To investigate theoretical efficiency, operational counting method has been also employed to compare the proposed model with the conventional recursive dynamics model. Various simulations such as unsymmetric bump run, step steering(J-turn) and sine steering input test have been carried out to verify the real time feasibility of the proposed model.

  • A system dynamics model is developed to investigate policies for the school-age child weights and heights. The model is based upon the system dynamic model of Soonhee lee(2003), the purpose of which was policy analysis for obese control of adult people. Although the purpose and target people are different, the main structure can be applied to in the same way. Besides the carbohydrate, protein, and fat material, the new model covers hormone and heights with new input mechanisms for foods and activities. The simulation results matches well with the average school-age children in Korea with the average inputs data (foods and activities). The model can be used for various purposes such as policy analyses, care plan for obese children, etc.

  • This study is a generalization of 'stable dynamics' recently suggested by Nesterov and de Palma[29]. Stable dynamics is a new model which describes and provides a stable state of congestion in urban transportation networks. In comparison with user equilibrium model that is common in analyzing transportation networks, stable dynamics requires few parameters and is coincident with intuitions and observations on the congestion. Therefore it is expected to be an useful analysis tool for transportation planners. An equilibrium in stable dynamics needs only maximum flow in each arc and Wardrop[33] Principle. In this study, we generalize the stable dynamics into the model with multiple traffic classes. We classify the traffic into the types of vehicle such as cars, buses and trucks. Driving behaviors classified by age, sex and income-level can also be classes. We develop an equilibrium with multiple traffic classes. We can find the equilibrium by solving the well-known network problem, multicommodity minimum cost network flow problem.

  • This study presents full vehicle dynamics model for the dynamic characteristic analysis of chassis parts which are suspension and brake system. This vehicle dynamics model is appled to kinematics and quasi-static analysis for each chassis part. In order to develop the vehicle dynamics model, the parameters of each chassis element part which are bush, spring and damper are measured by experiment. Also the wheel forces and moments of 6 DOF are measured at each wheel center. These data are applied to input parameter for vehicle dynamics model. And the verification of the developed model is achieved to comparison with the experimental force data of spring, trailing arm and assist arm by using the load response by strain gauge. These experimental force data are acquired by road test at event surfaces of P/G which are belgian and chuck holes roads.

  • Generally, motor controller design is based on its motor dynamics. Therefore, it requires precise information of its motor dynamics. However, most of the low cost DC motors, which are widely used in industries and academia, are provided without such precise information. Even if it is given, the information is mostly imprecise. Following circumstances require one to calculate the motor dynamics information for oneself. This paper presents a simple method to readily apprehend the DC motor dynamics. First, how to establish the model of DC motor dynamics along with the model parameter identification is presented. Then, the parameter values are finetuned until the simulation response based on the dynamics model is close to the experimental response of the motor. Finally, the controller is designed with the established dynamics model. The validity of the designed controller is confirmed by the comparison of the experiment and simulation.

  • Nowadays, with the advancement of computational mechanics, and vehicle dynamics simulation linked up with virtual testing laboratory(VTL) and virtual proving ground(VPG) technologies has become a useful method for analyzing numerous driving performances and diverse noise/vibration characteristics. In this paper, the analytical vehicle model based on multi-body dynamics theory was developed to investigate the vibration characteristics according to various road conditions. For the purpose, the whole vehicle parameters, each vehicle's part parameter, and part connecting elements such as spring, damper, and bush were measured by an experiment. Also, the vehicle dynamics model, which includes the front suspension, rear suspension, steering, front wheel, rear wheel, and body subsystems has been constructed for computer simulation. With the developed vehicle dynamics model, three forces and three moments measured at each wheel center were applied to evaluate and analyze dynamics and vibration characteristics for miscellaneous road conditions.

Institutional political dynamics: political cycles between the liberal and the conservative

  • Although many system dynamists point out the close relationship between institutional economics and system dynamics, the relationship between institutional political theory and system dynamics approach is not explicitly appreciated yet. We developed a system dynamics model to investigate theoretical propositions of institutional politics. Our system dynamics model showed how the endogenous mechanism can explain the political changes as well as orders. Although simple in the causal structure, our model could show a complex behavior of political competition. Several simulation results imply that some unexpected changes in election and power competition may come from the endogenous system rather than from exogenous factors such as economic and environmental shocks.

Study on the Role of Hospital Coordinators with System Dynamics Approach (병원 코디네이터도입이 병원경영성과에 미치는 영향분석)

  • The competition between hospitals has become an issue for many hospitals because of the sudden increased number of health providers. As the marketing or customer management have become important factors as means of competition, a number of hospital have been considered or already adopted the coordination system. A system dynamics model is developed to see the effect of the hospital coordination system. This paper after briefly explaining the structure of the system dynamics model, discusses the roles of the hospital coordination system with examples. The system dynamics model quantifies through simulations the process of effects of coordination system on the number of customers, productivities of employees (nurses and doctors), and finally the financial status. As a conclusions of the simulations and their analysis, it is concluded that coordination system could be more effective than the investment to the facilities. Since the study is based on only one hospital case, it is limited. However, it explains the mechanism of the coordination system quantitatively as well as qualitatively.

  • In this paper, an energy-economy-environment dynamic simulation model was developed to using system dynamics methodology. It describes current energy-economy-environment systems and forecasts changes caused by levying of carbon tax. The model is composed of three modules: an energy module, an economic module and an environmental module. Variables are interrelated in each module, and three modules are linked by several linkage variables. Setting up the linkage variables is an important factor for the composition of the model. The simulation result shows a change of the national GDP, usage of energy, and $CO_2$ emissions under levying and reinvestment of carbon tax considering various scenarios for the charging cost.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a system dynamics model for growth prediction of low birth weight infants(LBWIs) based on nutrition. This growth prediction model consists of 9 modules; body weight, height, carbohydrate, protein, lipid, micronutrient, water, activity and energy module. The results of the model simulation match well with the percentiles of weights and heights of the Korean infants, also with the growth records of 55 LBWIs, under 37 weeks of gestational age, whose weights are appropriate for their gestational age. This model can be used to understand the current growth mode of LBWIs, predict the future growth of LBWIs, and be utilized as a tool for controlling the nutrient intake for the optimal growth of LBWIs in actual practice.
