  • In this paper, the design of DYNAMIC CMOS ARRAY LOGIC which has both advantages of dynamic CMOS and array logic circuits is proposed. The major components of DYNAMIC CMOS ARRAY LOGIC are two-stage dunamic CMOS circuits and an internal clock generator. The function block of dynamic CMOS circuits is realized as a parallel interconnection of NMOS transistors. Therefore the operating speed of DYNAMIC CMOS ARRAY LOGIC is much faster than the one of the conventional dynamic CMOS PLAs and static CMOS PLA. Also, the charge redistribution problem by internl delay is solved. The internal clock generator generates four internal clocks that drive all the dynamic CMOS circuits. During evaluation, two clocks of them are delayed as compared with others. Therefore the race problem is completoly eliminated. The internal clock generator also prevents the reduction of circuit output voltage and noise margin due to leakage current and charge coupling without any penalty in circuit operating speed or chip area utilization.

  • Schmitt Trigger logic is a gate level design method to have hysteresis characteristics to improve noise immunity in digital circuits. Dynamic Threshold voltage MOS(DTMOS) Schmitt trigger circuits can improve noise immunity without adding additional transistors but by controlling substrate bias. The performance of DTMOS Schmitt trigger logic has not been verified yet in standard CMOS process through measurement. In this paper, DTMOS Schmitt trigger logic was implemented and verified using Magna $0.18{\mu}m$ MPW process. DTMOS Schmitt trigger buffer, inverter, NAND, NOR and simple digital logic circuits were made for our verification. Hysteresis characteristics, power consumption, and delay were measured and compared with common CMOS logic gates. EM Immunity enhancement was verified through Direct Power Injection(DPI) noise immunity test method. DTMOS Schmitt trigger logics fabricated using CMOS process showed a significantly improved EM Immunity in 10 M~1 GHz frequency range.

  • This paper proposes two new dynamic CMOS logic styles, called ZMODL (zipper-MODL) and EZMODL (enhanced-ZMODL), which can reduce more area dnd propagation delya than conventional MODL (multiple output domino logic). The 32-bit CLAs(carry look-ahead adder) are designed by ZMODL, EZMODL circuits, and their operations are verified by SPICE 3 with 2$\mu$ double metal CMOS parameters. The results shwo that the CLA designed by EZMODL circuit has achived 32-bit additin time of less than 4.8NS with VDD=5.0V and 8% of transistors cn be redcued, compared to the CLA designed by MODL. The EZMODL logic style can improve the performance in the high-speed computing circuits depending on the degree of recurrence.

  • In this paper, a logic family, the transmission gate CMOS(TG CMOS) is proposed, which combines the transmission gate and pass transistor resulting in a different configuration from traditional full CMOS. In the simulation, basic cells comprising this logic are designed and their dynamic responses are analyzed. The simulation shows their performance is exceeding that of conventional full CMOS.

  • The paper proposes a design of high-speed dynamic CMOS PLA (Programmable Logic Array) which performs stable circuit operation. The race problem which nay occur in a NOR-NOR implementation of PLA is free in the proposed dynamic CMOS PLA by delaying time between the clocks to the AND- and to the OR-planes. The delay element has the same structure as the product line of the longest delay in the AND p`ane. Therefore it is unnecessary to design the delay element or to calculate correct delay time. The correct delay generated by the delay element makes the dynamic CMOS PLA to perform correct and stable circuit operation. Theproposed dynamic CMOS PLA has few variation of switching delay with the increasing number of inputs or outputs in PLA. It is verified by SPICE circuit simulation that the proposed dynamic CMOS PLA has the better performance over existing dynamic CMOS PLA's.

  • A set of utility programs for automatic generation, minimization and verification of high density PLA layout was developed, which includes equation-to-truth table translator, logic minimizer, PLA product term sorter, file generator for plotting stick diagram, dynamic CMOS PLA layout generator and bipartite row folded CMOS PLA layout generator. Size reduction is performed mainly by logic minimizer and bipartite row folder, and the maximal delay is reduced by sorter. The fOe for automatically generated layout is stored in CIF. Each program was written in Clanguage, and was run on VAX-11/750 (UNIX).

  • In this paper, the low-power clock generator synchronized with the AC power signal using the adiabatic dynamic CMOS logic (ADCL) buffer is proposed for adiabatic logics. To reduce the power dissipation in conventional CMOS logic and to maintain adiabatic charging and discharging with low power for the ADCL, the clock signal of logic circuits should be synchronized with the AC power source. The clock signal for an adiabatic charging and discharging with the AC power signal was generated with the designed Schmitt trigger circuit and ADCL frequency divider using the ADCL buffer. From the simulation result, the power consumption of the proposed clock generator was estimated with approximately 1.181uW and 37.42uW at output 3kHz and 10MHz respectively.

  • The expandable 4 bit adder/subtracter IC was designed using the adiabatic and dynamic CMOS logic (ADCL) circuit as the ultra-low power consumption basic logic circuit and the IC was fabricated using a standard 1.2 ${\mu}$ CMOS process. As the result the steady operation of 4 bit addition and subtraction has been confirmed even if the frequency of the sinusoidal supply voltage is higher than 10MHz. Additionally, by the simulation, at the frequency of 10MHz, energy consumption per operation is obtained as 93.67pJ (ar addition and as 118.67pJ for subtraction, respectively. Each energy is about 1110 in comparison with the case in which the conventional CMOS logic circuit is used. A simple and low power oscillation circuit is also proposed as the power supply circuit f3r the ADCL circuit. The oscillator operates with a less one volt of DC supply voltage and around one milli-watts power dissipation.

  • Adiabatic dynamic CMOS logic circuits, which are called ADCL circuits, promise us to implement low power logic circuits. Since the power supply source for ADCL circuits had not been developed, we proposed a power supply circuit for them. It is shown experimentally that by using the power supply circuit ADCL circuits can work with lower power consumption than conventional static CMOS circuit. In this paper, the power supply circuit is improved so that the power consumption can be reduced. Also, it is shown by some experiments that by using the circuit, ADCL circuits can work with lower power consumption than before Improving.
