Real-time Vision-based People Counting System for the Security Door

  • This paper describes an implementation method for the people counting system which detects and tracks moving people using a fixed single camera. This system counts the number of moving objects (people) entering the security door. Moreover, the detected objects are tracked by the proposed tracking algorithm before entering the door. The proposed system with In-tel Pentium IV operates at an average rate of 10 frames a second on real world scenes where up to 6 persons come into the view of a vertically mounted camera.

  • The impact beam, a beam-shaped reinforcement installed horizontally between the inside and outside panels of car doors, is gaining importance as a solution to meet the regulations on side collision of vehicles. In order to minimize pelvis injury which is the biggest injury happening to the driver and passengers when a vehicle is subject to side collision, energy absorption at the door impact beam should be maximized. For the inner panel, the thrust into the inside of the vehicle must be minimized. The impact beam should be as light as possible so that the extent of pelvis injury to the driver and passenger during side collision of the vehicle is minimal. To achieve this, the weight of the impact beam, has to be optimized. In this study, we perform a design analysis with a goal to reduce the weight of the current impact design by 30% while ensuring stability, reliability, and comparison data of the impact beam for mass production. We conduct three-point bending stress experiments on conventional impact beams and analyze the results. In addition, we use a side-door collision test apparatus to test the performance of beams made of three (different materials: steel, aluminum, and composite beams).

Sound Metric Design for Quantification of Door Closing Sound Utilizing Physiological Acoustics (생리음향을 이용한 도어 닫힘음의 정량적 평가를 위한 새로운 음질요소의 개발)

  • In previous works, psychoacoustic parameters have been used for objective quantification. However, these parameters do not agree well with subjective assessment. Therefore, the correlation between psychoacoustic parameters and the subjective rating of door closing sounds of sampled cars is low, and it is not sufficient to use psychoacoustic parameters as an objective metric to quantify the sound quality of door closing sounds. In this paper, a new method is proposed to objectively quantify the sound quality based on physiological acoustics and statistical signal processing. The gammatone filter, as a pre-processing, is used in models of the auditory system and kurtosis, which is the fourth-order moment of temporal signal, and is used to extract information about sound quality quantification for door closing sounds. The new metric obtained through the proposed method is highly correlated with subjective rating, and it is successfully applied to the quantification of the sound quality of door closing sounds.

  • Number of subway train units that Seoul Metropolitan Subway Corporation as at September 2005 is 1.944 on 4 routes from 60 units at the time of commencement of operation, having grown exponentially. Along with increase in the number of passengers the role of subway as safer and expedient means of transportation is now being required. Furthermore, the Corporation has been researching on means of improving the safety and reliability of subway entry/exit doors which has become an essential task and directly effect the safety of the passengers. In this Study, has developed sensory control system for the entry/exit door of the subway train using non-contact proximity sensor as a part of review of and measures against various issues of entry/exit door of the subway trains currently under operation. In addition, this sensor system was verified through test production and tests. If this technology becomes commercialized and practically utilized in the future, it would be able to make definite contribution to the safer transportation of passengers.

When the effect of the preventive maintenance is imperfect, we need to consider the maintenance effect for making reliable and economical maintenance policies. The maintenance policies applicable for imperfect maintenance cases are considered and their effectiveness are evaluated through simulation in cases of passenger door system:PDS.

  • Doors are to be the most basics of our lives from opening, closing and even keeping our property. Hence, doors have been innovated to blend in and make our daily lives more convenient. However, we find it difficult to open and close the doors manually of offices or tour zones, where they open and close at a precise time everyday. To solve this, we added a dimension of time to previous Door Locks. By this, every door with this specific door lock will open and close at a certain time we want them to open or close. Also, through the application you can control the time or use it to open and close the doors remotely. In order to do this, we systemed the door lock time system based on Java Programing language to make it easy to communicate and open or close the doors through smart phone applications, with the C programming language for the ATmega128 which will open and close the doors.

  • Recently, OTP (One-time-Password) log-in methods have been used in many areas to prevent leakage of personal information and enhance security. The OTP method is primarily used for security of bank personal account, this is one of the sophisticated security ways in which one time password is generated and checked to enhance security. Digital door locks frequently used in everyday life require convenience and safety simultaneously. Meanwhile, related technologies for digital door locks are evolving, but methods for enhancement of security are still unsatisfactory. Generally, the digital door lock using password input type has been most commonly used and especially it provides more convenience, but it has some problems such as password exposure and password oblivion. Therefore, in this study, we propose and implement the OTP-based digital door lock system with enhanced security and convenience features but without the risk of password exposure and oblivion.

  • Nowadays, manufacturing industry has been making its effort not only for productivity elevation but also for cost reduction in order to survive in the global market which is more and more challenging. In this paper, the method for planning of digital manufacturing system is proposed and door trim assembly system is determined as the subject of our research. First of all, the process sequence is generated based on the product analysis. And, the static and dynamic relationships between system components are represented using IDEF0 and UML model. The working time is estimated through the regression analysis based on MODAPTS method. According to the system configuration strategy, initial concept system layout is implemented 3D virtual environment. The problems caused by bad working motions are detected and modified through the ergonomic analysis using RULA method. According to proposed procedure, digital door trim assembly system is implemented in DLEMIA.
