  • For a positive integer m, operator m-semi-stability and the strict operator m-semi-stability of probability measures on R^d$ are defined. The operator m-semi-stability is a generalization of the definition of operator semi-stability with exponent Q. Characterization of strictly operator na-semi-stable distributions among operator m-semi-stable distributions is given. Translation of strictly operator m-semi-stable distribution is discussed.

  • Characterizations of probability distributions by different regression conditions on generalized order statistics has attracted the attention of many researchers. We present here, characterization of Pareto and Weibull distributions based on the conditional expectation of generalized order statistics extending the characterization results reported by Jin and Lee (2014). We also present a characterization of the power function distribution based on the conditional expectation of lower generalized order statistics.

  • A new class of life distributions is studied. This class is defined based on comparing the residual life to the whole life in the moment generating function order giving "the new better than used in the moment generating function order ageing class ($NBU_{mgf}$)". Some new results of this class are given including some closere properties and characterizations. Finally testing exponentially against the $NBU_{mgf}$ class is also addressed.

  • A nonparametric procedure for testing exponentially against used better than aged in expectation (UBAE) class of life distributions is presented. We construct a test statistics based on scaled total time on test (TTT)-transformation, to test exponentiality against UBAE class of life distributions. The distribution of the statistic is investigated via simulation. Practical applications of the proposed test are presented.

  • In this paper we consider GPH distribution that is defined as a distribution for sum of random number of random variables following exponential distribution. We establish approximation process of general distributions to GPH distributions and offer numerical results for various cases to show the accuracy of the approximation. We also propose analysis method of delay distribution of queueing systems using approximation to GPH distributions and offer numerical results for various queueing systems to show applicability of GPH approximation.

  • In the recent papers by Harris and Park (1994) and by Hui and Park (2000), a family of lattice distributions derived from a sum of independent identically distributed random variables is examined. In this paper we generalize a result of Hui and Park (2000) on lattice distributions on the torus using the Poisson summation formula.

  • In this paper, some general results for obtaining recurrence relations between product moments of order statistics for doubly truncated distributions are established. These results are then applied to some specific doubly truncated distributions, viz. doubly truncated Weibull, Exponential, Pareto, power function, Cauchy, Lomax and Rayleigh.

  • In 1992. Boullion obtained the method of the calculus of the moments of discrete probability distributions using differential operator, and he published the method of calculus of the moments. The purpose of this paper is to introduce an idea that this method can be applied to calculate the moments of continuous probability distributions.

  • In this paper, we study a family of continuous bivariate distributions that possesses the negative quadrant dependence property and the generalized negatively quadrant dependent F-G-M copula. We also develop the partial ordering of this new parametric family of negative quadrant dependent distributions.
