A Validity Verification of Human Error Probability using a Fuzzy Model (퍼지모델을 이용한 인적오류확률의 타당성 검증)

  • Quantification of error possibility, in an HRA process, should be performed so that the result of the qualitative analysis can be utilized in other areas in conjunction with overall safety estimation results. And also, the quantification is an essential process to analyze the error possibility in detail and to obtain countermeasures for the errors through screening procedures. In previous studies for the quantification of error possibility, nominal values were assigned by the experts' judgements and utilized as corresponding probabilities. The values assigned by experts' experiences and judgements, however, require verifications on their reliability. In this study, the validity of new error possibility values in new MCR design was verified by using the Onisawa's model which utilizes fuzzy linguistic values to estimate human error probabilities. With the model of error probabilities are represented as analyst's estimations and natural language expression instead of numerical values. As results, the experts' estimation values about error probabilities are well agreed to the existing error probability estimation model. Thus, it was concluded that the occurrence probabilities of errors derived from the human error analysis process can be assessed by nominal values suggested in the previous studies. It is also expected that our analysis method can supplement the conventional HRA method because the nominal values are based on the consideration of various influencing factors such as PSFs.

  • This paper explains the design and implementation of the ESA(Error Sharing Agent). ESA is a system that is suitable for detecting, sharing and recovering software error based on multimedia CSCW(Computer Supportes Cooperated Work). This system consists of an ED, ES, and ER. ED detects an error by hooking techniques. ES is an agent which is an error sharing system for distributed multimedia collaboration environment With error sharing system, a group cooperating users can share error applications. From the perspective of multimedia collaborative environment, an error application becomes another interactive presentation error is shared with participants engaged in a cooperative work. We propose how an error application can be treated as 'media' in a multimedia collaborative environment.

  • Human errors can take place in all levels that include the design, production, construction, operation and maintenance of plant facilities. It was found that the causes were concerned with the effects of human error. This study verified characteristics of the on-site operators and error mechanism, and used the classifying sheet to analyze human error that occurred in process. Also, by applying the ASEP(Accident Sequence Evaluation Program) HRA(Human Reliability Analysis) procedure, the algorithm to estimate the HEP and the ASEP HEP program to analyze human error in the plant were developed. If it is built in on-site, possible human error incident will be prevented and the systematic human error prevention strategy will be devised.

  • The aim of this study is to review previous studies on human errors in the service delivery processes. Service industry is sharply growing in the advanced countries. Many people are looking for something to contribute to the service industry. Although there are many research topics related to service domain that human factors and ergonomics specialists can do contribute, a few researchers are studying such topics. This paper indicated how previous researches on human factors and human errors have addressed the service domain, in order to prompt human factor study on the service domain. A variety of sources were inspected for literature reviews, including books and journals of managements, medicine, psychology, consumer behavior as well as human factor and ergonomics. The characteristics of human errors in the service domain were investigated. Human error studies in several service sectors were summarized such as medical service, automotive service operation, travel agent service and call center service. Until now, human factors community was not much interested in human errors in service domain. However, there is much space to contribute to service domain; human error identification, human error analysis and control of human error. The research of human error in service domain can provide clues to improve service quality. This paper helps to guide to identify human error of service domain and to design service systems.

  • In this paper we propose a design algorithm for nonbinary LDPC (low-density parity-check) codes with low error-floors. The proposed algorithm determines the nonbinary values of the nonzero entries in the parity-check matrix in order to maximize the binary minimum distance of the designed nonbinary LDPC codes. We verify the performance of the designed nonbinary LDPC codes in the error-floor region by Monte Carlo simulation and importance sampling over BPSK (binary phase-shift keying) modulation.

  • This study deals with the TE (Transmission Error) of gear tooth by modifying a profile and lead of a surface of tooth. First, we experimentally confirmed that the TE is a synthesis of the sliding velocity between both gears. Since various types of TE appear in the experiments, we introduced definition of transmission error and the optimism design by modifying a surface parameters. The test stand's performance is then evaluated through a series of multiple torque transmission error tests. Comparisons are made between data recorded before and after the test stand's redesign, and subsequently repeatability studies are performed to verify the veracity of the measured data. Finally, the experimental results are compared to the analytical predictions of two different gear analysis programs.

  • This paper presents a design method for fixed-width squarer that receives a W-bit input and produces a W-bit squared product. To efficiently compensate for the quantization error, modified Booth encoder signals (not multiplier coefficients) are used for the generation of error compensation bias. The truncated bits are divided into two groups (major/minor group) depending upon their effects on the quantization error. Then, different error compensation methods are applied to each group. By simulations, it is shown that the performance of the proposed method is close to that of the rounding method and much better than that of the truncation method and conventional method. It is also shown that the proposed method leads to up to $28\%\;and\;27\%$ reduction in area and power consumption compared with the ideal squarers, respectively.

  • In This Paper, New Efficient Arithmatic Logic Unit Design for Calculating Error Values of Reed Solomon Decoder is described. Error Values are solved by solving Linear system of Equations, So called Newtonian set of identity equations. Here We Need Galois Multiplier, Adder, Divider on GF($2^8$) field. We prove how the Hardware circuits are improved better than the classical circuits. The method to find error location is not covered here, since many other researchers have already deeply studied it.

  • This paper introduces a new approach to analysis of error convergence for a class of iterative teaming control systems. Firstly, a nonlinear plant is represented using a Takagi-Sugeno(T-S) fuzzy model. Then each iterative learning controller is designed for each linear plant in the T-S fuzzy model. From the view point of two-dimensional(2-D) system theory, we transform the proposed learning systems to a 2-D error equation, which is also established if the form of T-S fuzzy model. We analyze the error convergence in the sense of induced L$_2$-norm, where the effects of disturbances and initial conditions on 2-D error are considered. The iterative teaming controller design problem to guarantee the error convergence can be reduced to the linear matrix inequality problem. This method provides a systematic design procedure for iterative teaming controller. A simulation example is given to illustrate the validity of the proposed method.

Design of Two-axis Force/Torque Sensor for Hip Joint Rehabilitation Robot (고관절 재활로봇의 2축 힘/토크센서 설계)

  • We describe the design and fabrication of a two-axis force/torque sensor with parallel-plate beams (PPBs) and single beams for measuring force and torque in hip-joint rehabilitation exercise using a lower rehabilitation robot. The two-axis force/torque sensor is composed of an Fz force sensor and a Tz torque sensor, which detect z direction force and z direction torque, respectively. The two-axis force/torque sensor was designed using the FEM (Finite Element Method) and manufactured using strain gages. The characteristics experiment of the two-axis force/torque sensor was carried out. The test results show that the interference error of the two-axis force/torque sensor was less than 0.64% and the repeatability error and the non-linearity of the two-axis force/torque sensor were less than 0.03%. It is thought that the developed two-axis force/torque sensor could be used for a lower rehabilitation robot.
