Lead dioxide thin films were electrodeposited on nickel substrate from acidic lead nitrate solution. Current efficiency and thickness measurements, cyclic voltammetry, AFM, SEM, and X-ray diffraction experiments were conducted on $PbO_2$ surface to elucidate the effect of lead nitrate concentration, current density, temperature on the morphology, chemical behavior, and crystal structure. Experimental results showed that deposition efficiency was affected by the current density and solution concentration. The film thickness was independent of current density when deposition from high $Pb(NO_3)_2$ concentration, while it decreased for low concentration and high current density deposition. On the other hand, deposition temperature had negative effect on current efficiency more for lower current density deposition. Cyclic voltammetric study revealed that comparatively more ${\beta}-PbO_2$ produced compact deposits when deposition was carried out from high $Pb(NO_3)_2$ concentration. Such compact films gave lower charge discharge current density during cycling. SEM and AFM studies showed that deposition of regular-size sharp-edge grains occurred for all deposition conditions. The grain size for high temperature and low concentration $Pb(NO_3)_2$ deposition was bigger than from low temperature and high concentration deposition conditions. While cycling converted all grains into loosely adhered flappy deposit with numerous pores. X-ray diffraction measurement indicates that high concentration, high temperature, and high current density favored ${\beta}-PbO_2$ deposition while ${\alpha}-PbO_2$ converted to ${\beta}-PbO_2$ together with some unconverted $PbSO_4$ during cycling in $H_2SO_4$.

The properties of pyrolytic carbon (PyC) deposited from $C_2H_2$ and a mixture of $C_2H_2/C_3H_6$ on $ZrO_2$ particles in a fluidized bed reactor were studied by adjusting the deposition temperature, reactant concentration, and the total gas flow rate. The effect of the deposition parameters on the properties of PyC was investigated by analyzing the microstructure and density change. The density could be varied from $1.0\;g/cm^3$ to $2.2\;g/cm^3$ by controlling the deposition parameters. The density decreased and the deposition rate increased as the deposition temperature and reactant concentration increased. The PyC density was largely dependent on the deposition rate irrespective of the type of the reactant gas used.

Structural and electrical properties of the fully crystallized-bismuth magnesium niobate ($Bi_2Mg_{2/3}Nb_{4/3}O_7$, BMN) films with 15 mol% excess bismuth deposited on Pt bottom electrode by pulsed laser deposition are characterized for various deposition temperatures. The BMN films were crystallized with a monoclinic structure from $300^{\circ}C$ and the surface roughness slightly decreases with increasing deposition temperature. The capacitance density of the films increases with increasing deposition temperature and especially, films deposited at $400^{\circ}C$ exhibit a capacitance density of approximately $620nF/cm^2$. The crystallized BMN films with approximately 170 nm thickness exhibit breakdown strength above 600 kV/cm (${\leq}10V$) irrespective of deposition temperature and a leakage current density of approximately $2{\times}10^{-8}A/cm^2$ at 590kV/cm (at 10 V).

Superconductor wire fabricated by electrophoresis showed its critical current density depended on parameters such as applied voltage and deposition time. Substrate and suspension solutions. and its properties are also important parameters. When same optimal parameter and condition was used, deposition density of superconductor film affect directly its critical current density. In this study, therefore, electrophoretic deposition technique was utilized for a densification of YBCO superconducting wire, and researches on electrophoretic suspension solutions and additive were experimentally performed for an improvement of the critical current density of fabricated electrophoretically superconducting wire. The samples fabricated in the solution with the additive, 8 vol.% of 1% PEG(1000), showed the highest critical current density.

In this study, the corrosion resistance of Zn-3wt.%Mg coating was enhanced by controlling the density of coating. During the deposition the substrate temperature was controlled via an intermittent deposition process, resulting in the improvement of coating density. The maximum substrate temperature during this intermittent deposition process could be controlled from $200^{\circ}C$ to $80^{\circ}C$, depending upon the number of coating layer. The density of Zn-3 wt.%Mg coating increased from 76.1 % to 95.8 % as the substrate temperature was controlled. The salt spray test results revealed that the corrosion resistance of Zn-Mg coated steel could increase 3 times by increasing the density in coatings, while adhesion strength of coating was not changed significantly during 0-T bending test.

The deposition rate, the current efficiency and surface morphology of trivalent Cr deposits were investigated according to additives in sulfate bath and current density. The deposition rate of the Cr deposits plated from the formic acid complexed bath was noticeably higher than that of the glycine complexed bath. The current efficiency of the deposition from formic acid bath was higher than that of the glycine bath and increased with current density in the range of 20-50 A/d$\m^2$. The current efficiency of the deposition from the formic acid bath with boric acid buffer was higher than that of the bath with aluminum sulfate or boric acid-aluminum sulfate buffers. The nodular crystallite size of the Cr deposits increased with current density and the uniform and crack-free growth of the deposits for the aluminum sulfate was observed compared to the other buffers.

Sputtering is one of the most popular physical deposition methods due to their versatility and reproducibility. Synthesis of Cr thin films by DC magnetron sputtering using glancing angle deposition (GLAD) has been reported. Chromium thin films have been prepared at two different working pressure($2.0{\times}10-2$, 30, $3.3{\times}10-3torr$) on Si-wafer substrate using magnetron sputtering with glancing angle deposition (GLAD) technique. The thickness of Cr thin films on the substrate was adjusted about 1 mm. The electrical property was measured by four-point probe method. For the measurement of density in the films, an X-ray reflectivity (XRR) was carried out. The sheet resistance and column angle increased with the increase of glancing angle. However, nanohardness and density of Cr thin films decreased as the glancing angle increased. The measured density for the Cr thin films decreased from 6.1 to 3.8 g/cc as the glancing angle increased from $0^{\circ}$ to $90^{\circ}$ degree. The low density of Cr thin films is resulted from the isolated columnar structure of samples. The evolution of the isolated columnar structure was enhanced at the conditions of low sputter pressure and high glancing angle. This GLAD technique can be potentially applied to the synthesis of thin films requiring porous and uniform coating such as thin film catalysts or gas sensors.
The characteristic of pyrolytic carbon deposited in a fluidized bed as measured by density apparent crystallite size and viewed metallographically under polarized light can be easily controlled by adjusting the deposition parameters such as deposition temperature and propane flow rate or silicon content. The density of isotopic pyrolytic carbons deposited from propane between 120$0^{\circ}C$ and 140$0^{\circ}C$ increases with increasing propane flow rate and decreasing deposition temperature from 1, 73g/cc to 2.08g/cc. The apparent crystallite size Lc parameter appears to depend only on deposition temperature being entirely independent of the propane flow rate. The carbon matrix density of the silicon-alloyed carbonds deposited from propane and methyltrichlorosil-ane from 2.05g/cc for a silicon content around 9wt% to 2.67g/cc for a silicon content of 36.7wt% The Lc parameter of the deposition temperature being entirely independent of the silicon content.

To estimate the influence of electrical properties due to the poly back seal(PBS). we were investigated defect density in surface by deposition thickness and breakdown voltage in specimens. Deposition thickness of specimen is prepared from 7,000[$\AA$] to 13,000[$\AA$], respectively. From the results, it is confirmed that PBS deposition thickness of 10,000[$\AA$] among the specimen is decreased defect density by contribution of the gettering effect.

The effects of various electrodeposition conditions (deposition temperature and cathode current density) on preferred orientation and microhardness of electrodeposited Ni-Sn and Sn-Zn alloys were studied. At deposition temperatures from 25$^{\circ}$ to 95$^{\circ}C$ and constant cathode current density of 270 and 530 A/$m^2$ Ni-Sn and Sn-Zn were codeposited in chloride-fluoride acid and stannate-cyanide alkaline electrolyte bath respectively. Ni-Sn alloy deposited at temperatures from 25$^{\circ}$ to 35$^{\circ}C$ was composed of single phase of $Ni_3Sn_4$ with 73 wt.% Sn and the one deposited at temperatures from 45$^{\circ}$ to 95$^{\circ}C$ was made of multiphase mixture of NiSn, $Ni_3Sn_2$ and $Ni_3Sn_4$ with nearly equiatomic composition (65.5 wt.% Sn). The random orientation of thermody-namically metastable NiSn phase (hexagonal structure) predominated at deposition temperature range 25$^{\circ}$-45$^{\circ}C$, and the strong (110) preferred orientation was found at 65$^{\circ}$-85$^{\circ}C$ and then disappeared again at 95$^{\circ}C$. The microhardness of Ni-Sn deposits increased with deposition temperature up to 85$^{\circ}C$, and then decreased at constant cathode current density. The preferred orientation and the maximum microhardness were discussed in terms of lattice contractile stress which result from desorption of hydrogen atom absorbed in deposit lattice. The Sn content of Sn-Zn alloy deposits increased with deposition temperature up to 75$^{\circ}C$, and then decreased at constant cathode current density of 530 A/$m^2$. It also decreased with cathode current density up to 530 A/$m^2$, and then increased at constant deposition temperature of 25$^{\circ}C$. Sn-Zn alloy deposits were composed of two-phase mixture of ${beta}$-Sn and Zn. The preferred orientations of ${beta}$-Sn (tetragonal structure) changed with deposition temperature. The microhardness of Sn-Zn deposits decreased with deposition temperature. It also increased with cathode density up to 530 A/$m^2$, and then decreased at constant deposition temperature of 25$^{\circ}C$. The microhardness of Sn-Zn deposits was observed to be determinded more by the Sn content than by the preferred orientation.
