GENERAL DECAY OF SOLUTIONS OF NONLINEAR VISCOELASTIC WAVE EQUATION

  • In a bounded domain, we consider $$u_{tt}-{\Delta}u+{\normalsize\displaystyle\smashmargin{2}{\int\nolimits_0}^t}\;g(t-{\tau}){\Delta}ud{\tau}+u_t={\mid}u{\mid}^pu$$, where p > 0 and g is a nonnegative and decaying function. We establish a general decay result which is not necessarily of exponential or polynomial type.

  • This paper proposes a design procedure based on the LQG/LTR (Linear Quadratic Gaussian/ Loop Transfer Recovery) method for a launch vehicle. Continuous-discrete type LQG/LTR compensators are designed using the e-transformation to overcome numerical problems occurring in the process of discretization. The e-LQG/LTR compensator using the e-transformation is compared width the z-LQG/LTR compensator using the z-transformation. The performance of the overall system controlled by the compensator is evaluated via simulations, which show that the discretization error problem is resolved and the control performances are satisfactory in the proposed compensator.

  • A master-slave system is proposed as a teaching device for a dual arm robot. The slave robots are remotely controlled by two delta-type master arms. In order to help the operator to observe the target object from the desired position and desired direction, cameras are mounted on a specialized manipulator, Movements of two slave arms are coordinated with that of the cameras. Due to this coordinated movements, the operator needs not to care the geometrical relation between the cameras and the slave robots.

  • This paper, we investigate a strongly damped nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation with nonlinearities of variable exponent type $$u_{tt}-{\Delta}u-{\Delta}u_t+m^2u+{\mid}u_t{\mid}^{p(x)-2}u_t={\mid}u{\mid}^{q(x)-2}u$$ associated with initial and Dirichlet boundary conditions in a bounded domain. We obtain a nonexistence of solutions if variable exponents p (.), q (.) and initial data satisfy some conditions.

  • Svechnikov & Kuznetsova(1990)의 목록으로부터 761개의 접촉식쌍성을 택하여 그의 물리적 특성에 따라 공통 복사대기층을 갖는 CE형과 공통 대류대기층을 갖는 CW형으로 분류하여 질량비에 따른 그의 특성을 분석하였다. 그 결과 분광형이 조기형인 CE형은 만기형인 CW 형에 비교하여 주성과 반성의 온도차($$\mid${Delta}T$\mid$$)가 크며 주기는 길게 나타났다. 그런데 CW형은 CE형에 비교하여 질량비가 다소 좁은 범위(0.3$L_2/L_1=0.01+0.89q$의 상관 관계를 보였다. 한편, 질량비에 따른 반경과의 관계에서는 CE형과 CWs형의 차이의 원인이 반성의 반경 때문임을 확인하였으며, CW형 접촉식쌍성의 질량비에 따른 두 별의 반경의 합과 반경비와의 새로운 관계를 제시하였다.

PKCδ-dependent Activation of the Ubiquitin Proteasome System is Responsible for High Glucose-induced Human Breast Cancer MCF-7 Cell Proliferation, Migration and Invasion

  • Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) has contributed to advanced breast cancer development over the past decades. However, the mechanism underlying this contribution is poorly understood. In this study, we determined that high glucose enhanced proteasome activity was accompanied by enhanced proliferation, migration and invasion, as well as suppressed apoptosis, in human breast cancer MCF-7 cells. Proteasome inhibitor bortezomib (BZM) pretreatment mitigated high glucose-induced MCF-7 cell growth and invasion. Furthermore, high glucose increased protein kinase C delta ($PKC{\delta}$)-phosphorylation. Administration of the specific $PKC{\delta}$ inhibitor rottlerin attenuated high glucose-stimulated cancer cell growth and invasion. In addition, $PKC{\delta}$ inhibition by both rottlerin and $PKC{\delta}$ shRNA significantly suppressed high glucose-induced proteasome activity. Our results suggest that $PKC{\delta}$-dependent ubiquitin proteasome system activation plays an important role in high glucose-induced breast cancer cell growth and metastasis.

Attenuated Expression of Interferon-induced Protein Kinase PKR in a Simian Cell Devoid of Type I Interferons

  • The interferon-induced, double-stranded RNA (dsRNA)-dependent protein kinase PKR plays a key role in interferon-mediated host defense against viral infection, and is implicated in cellular transformation and apoptosis. We have isolated a cDNA of simian PKR encoding a product with 83% amino acid identity to the human homolog and showed that PKR expression is significantly attenuated in the Vero E6 African green monkey kidney cells devoid of type I interferon genes. A variant form of PKR lacking the exon 12 in the kinase domain is produced in these cells, presumably from an alternatively spliced transcript. Unlike wild type PKR, the variant protein named PKR-${\Delta}E12$ is incapable of auto-phosphorylation and phosphorylation of eIF2-${\alpha}$, indicating that the kinase sub-domains III and IV embedded in exon 12 are indispensable for catalytic function. PKR-${\Delta}E12$ had no dominant negative effect but was weakly phosphorylated in trans by wild type PKR.

세포신호계에 있어서 Protein Kinase C: 사람의 전입선 adenocarcinoma PC-3 세포내의 여섯개의 Protein kinase C 동립효소의 translocation (Protein Kinase C (PKC) in Cellular Signalling System: Translocation of Six Protein Kinase C Isozymes in Human Prostate Adenocarcinoma PC-3 Cell Line)

  • Protein kinase C isozymes in a human prostate adenocarcinoma PC-3 cell line were characterized. Immunoreactive bands and immunocytochemical stains were obsenred in PC-3 cells with antibodies raised against protein kinase C ${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$, ${\gamma}$, $\delta$, $\varepsilon$, and ζ types, respectively. Protein kinase C ${\alpha}$ corresponded to a immunoreactive band at a molecular weight of 80,000-dalton, whereas molecular weights of other immunoreactive isozvmes of protein kinase C were detected at 68,000-dalton. Protein kinHse C $\delta$ and ζ antibodies detected additional bands at 55,000-dalton and 80,000-dalton, respectively Immunocvtochemical study confirmed the results of the immunoblotting experiments qualitatively: all six protein kinase C isozymes were detected in the cytoplasm of PC-3 cells. Translocation of protein kinase C in PC-3 cells were also examined with phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA), bryostatin 2, diolein, and 1-oleoyl-2-acetyl glycerol (OAG). Differential reactions of protein kinase C isozvmes to these activators were obsenred. When PC-3 cells were treated with 10mM bryostatin 2, protein kinase C isozyme u was translocated into the nucleus, whereas s type was translocated into the plasma membrane and the nucleus. Protein kinase C ${\alpha}$ and ζ types were translocated into the nucleus following the treatment with 101M diolein, whereas protein kinase C ${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$, ${\gamma}$, and $\varepsilon$ types were translocated into the nucleus by the treatment with 10mM OAG. Protein kinase C ${\alpha}$ and $\varepsilon$ types were translocated into the nucleus in the presence of 100nM PMA. Protein kinase C $\delta$ type was translocated to the nuclear membrane by these activators, however, only PMA-induced translocation was inhibited by protein kinase C inhibitor, 1-(5-isoquinolinesulfonyll-2-methvlpiperazine dihvdrochloride (H7) . H7 inhibited translocation of protein kinase C ${\alpha}$ type induced by PMA, ${\beta}$ type by OAG and s type by PMA and OAG, whereas it did not affect translocations induced by bryostatin and diolein, respectively. These results suggest that there exist six isoformes of protein kinase C (${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$, ${\gamma}$, $\delta$, $\varepsilon$ and ζ types) in PC-3 cells and that each of these isozvmes distinctivelv reacts to bryostatin, diolein, OAG and PMA, in part due to an altered molecular size and conceivably discrete binding site(s).

침지효과를 이용한 신액정배향효과에 관한 연구 (Investigation of the Effect of new alignment in NLC by using Dipping Effect)

  • In this paper, the generation of high pretilt angle in nematic liquid crystal (NLC) by dipping effect on three kinds of the rubbed polyimide (PI) surface was investigated. The generated pretilt angle of NLC increases due to dipping effect before rubbing treatment on two kinds of the rubbed PI surface with side chain. The generated pretit angle in NLC by using dipping effect after rubbing treatment on PI surface with short side chain is high compared to the PI surface with long side chain. The generated pretit angle of the positive type NLC $(\Delta{\varepsilon}>0)$ is higher as than that of the negative type NLC $({\Delta}{\varepsilon}<0)$ by using dipping effect before rubbing treatment on homeotropic layer. The generated pretilt angle of NLC is attributed to perpendicular component of permittivity ${\varepsilon}_{\perp}$ of NLC on rubbed PI surface.
