Rates of solvblysis of benzyl chloride in ethanol-water mixtures have been measured at 30 and $40^{\circ}C$ under various pressures up 1.6 kbar. The plots of 1n k as a function of pressure are fitted to a second order function in p, and values of ${\Delta}V^{\neq}$and ${\Delta}{\beta}^{\neq}$ are obtained from the results. Also the values of various pseudo thermodynamic quantities were evaluated from the rate constants. The relationships of the 1n k to $Q_w$ or 1n $C_w$ indicate that the reaction proceeds through $S_N1$ mechanism. A comparison between the present and the previous results gives that the increasing order of ${\mid}{{\Delta}V_0}^{\neq}{\mid}$ and n-values are $p-Cl>p-H>p-CH_3$ and $p-CH_3>p-H.p-Cl$, respectively. From these results, it is believed substituent such as the $p-CH_3$group favors the $S_N1(1)$ character, while the p-Cl group leads to the $S_N1(2)$ character.
Cell polarity is critical for the division, differentiation, migration, and signaling of eukaryotic cells. RAX2 of budding yeast encodes a membrane protein localized at the cell cortex that helps maintain the polarity of the bipolar pattern. Here, we designate SPAC6f6.06c as $rax2^+$ of Schizosaccharomyces pombe, based on its sequence homology with RAX2, and examine its function in cell polarity. S. pombe $rax2^+$ is not essential, but ${\Delta}rax2$ cells are slightly smaller and grow slower than wild type cells. During vegetative growth or arrest at G1 by mutation of cdc10, deletion of $rax2^+$ increases the number of cells failing old end growth just after division. In addition, this failure of old end growth is dramatically increased in ${\Delta}tea1{\Delta}rax2$, pointing to genetic interaction of $rax2^+$ with $tea1^+$. ${\Delta}rax2$ cells contain normal actin and microtubule cytoskeletons, but lack actin cables, and the polarity factor for3p is not properly localized at the growing tip. In ${\Delta}rax2$ cells, and endogenous rax2p is localized at the cell cortex of growing cell tips in an actin- and microtubule-dependent manner. However, ${\Delta}rax2$ cells show no defects in cell polarity during shmoo formation and conjugation. Taken together, these observations suggest that rax2p controls the cell polarity of fission yeast during vegetative growth by regulating for3p localization.
Since seismic inversion is based on the wave equation, it is important to calculate the solution of wave equation exactly. In particular, full waveform inversion would produce reliable results only when the forward modeling is accurately performed because it uses full waveform. When we use finite-difference or finite-element method to solve the wave equation, the convergence of numerical scheme should be guaranteed. Although the general proof of convergence is provided theoretically, the consistency and stability of numerical schemes should be verified for practical applications. The implementation of source function is the most crucial factor for the consistency of modeling schemes. While we have to use the sinc function normalized by grid spacing to correctly describe the Dirac delta function in the finite-difference method, we can simply use the value of basis function, regardless of grid spacing, to implement the Dirac delta function in the finite-element method. If we use frequency-domain wave equation, we need to use a conservative criterion to determine both sampling interval and maximum frequency for the source wavelet generation. In addition, the source wavelet should be attenuated before applying it for modeling in order to make it obey damped wave equation in case of using complex angular frequency. With these conditions satisfied, we can develop reliable inversion algorithms.
In this paper, we study asymptotic behaviour of solutions of the following higher order nonlinear dynamic equations $$S_n^{\Delta}(t,x)+{\delta}p(t)f(x(g(t)))=0$$ and $$S_n^{\Delta}(t,x)+{\delta}p(t)f(x(h(t)))=0$$ on an arbitrary time scale $\mathbb{T}$ with sup $\mathbb{T}={\infty}$, where n is a positive integer, ${\delta}=1$ or -1 and $$S_k(t,x)=\{\array x(t),\;if\;k=0,\\a_k(t)S_{{\kappa}-1}^{\Delta}(t),\;if\;1{\leq}k{\leq}n-1,\\a_n(t)[S_{{\kappa}-1}^{\Delta}(t)]^{\alpha},\;if\;k=n,$$ with ${\alpha}$ being a quotient of two odd positive integers and every $a_k$ ($1{\leq}k{\leq}n$) being positive rd-continuous function. We obtain some sufficient conditions for the equivalence of the oscillation of the above equations.
Microstructure and permeability as a function of sintering temperature and composition were studied on the Ni$\delta$Cu0.4-$\delta$Zn0.6Fe2O4 ($\delta$=0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4) which was prepared by Cu2+ substitution for Ni2+ in Ni.0.4Zn0.6Fe2O4, then followed by 8 wt% CuO and 1wt% Bi2O3 as sintering aids. It was found that NiCuZn ferrite in which Cu2+ is substituted for Ni2+ is more effective in reduction of sintering temperature than Ni.0.4Zn0.6Fe2O4, containing CuO as a sintering aid. The specimen $\delta$=0.2 sintered at 90$0^{\circ}C$ for 2hr exhibited the highest initial permeability value ($\mu$o=280 at 1Mhz), but the real permeability decreased at the frequency under 10 MHz. EPMA analysis showed that Ni$\delta$Cu0.4-$\delta$Zn0.6Fe2O4 ($\delta$=0.4), sintered at 95$0^{\circ}C$ for 2hrs consisted of three phase regions of Ni.0.3Cu0.1Zn0.6Fe2O4 region, Cu and Bi liquid existed at the 3-point boundary, although the stabilization energy of Ni2+ is higher than that of Cu2+ in B site.
The universality of the quasi-linear relation between the order parameter S and the normalized birefringence ${\Delta}n_{rel}$, $S=(1+a){\Delta}n_{rel}-a{\Delta}n^2_{rel}$ is confirmed. It is verified that the refractive index of liquid crystals distributed with regular polyhedral symmetry is isotropic and it is given as $\frac{1}{n^2_{av}}=\frac{1}{3}\(\frac{1}{n^2_e}+\frac{2}{n^2_o}\){\cdot}S$ and ${\Delta}n_{rel}$ of angular weighted liquid crystals that are initially distributed with regular polyhedral symmetry, are numerically calculated. Also ${\Delta}n_{rel}$ and S of liquid crystals that are conically distributed, keeping the rotational symmetry about z-axis are calculated as the apex angle of the cone is varied. Based on these calculated results, it is confirmed that the quasi-linear relation between S and ${\Delta}n_{rel}$ is universal, independent of the details of the distribution function.
This paper presents a method for estimating the transient stability status of the power system using radial basis function(RBF) neural network with a fast hybrid training approach. A normalized transient energy margin(${\Delta}V_n$) has been obtained by the potential energy boundary surface(PEBS) method along with a time-domain simulation technique, and is used as an output of the RBF neural network. The RBF neural network is then trained to map the operating conditions of the power system to the ${\Delta}V_n$, which provides a measure of the transient stability of the power system. The proposed approach has been successfully applied to the 10-machine 39-bus New England test system, and the results are given.
We discuss the feed back control of the on-line QC in the Taguchi method. Taguchi(1982) used the assumptions that the quality characteristics follow an uniform distribution and the Brownian motion to draw the loss function and proposed ${\Delta}/3$ or ${\Delta}$ for the initial control limit. Adams and Woodall(1989) also proposed a different procedure but using the same loss function. We propose, in this paper the new loss function under the assumption of mainly Brownian motion and compare the results with the results of the above.

An alternative technique (or the numerical solution of Fredholm integral equations of second kind is presented. The approximate solution is obtained by fitting the data in mixed form at knots in the region of the problem. To decrease the error in the numerical solution, cubic B-spline functions which are twice continuously differentiable at knots are employed as basis function. For a given example, the results of this technique are compared with those of Moment method employing pulse functions for basis function and delta functions for test function and found to br in good agreement.

We aim at giving explicit expressions of $${\sum_{m,n=0}^{{\infty}}}{\frac{{\Delta}_{m+n}(-1)^nx^{m+n}}{({\rho})_m({\rho}+i)_nm!n!}$$, where i = 0, ${\pm}1$, ${\ldots}$, ${\pm}9$ and $\{{\Delta}_n\}$ is a bounded sequence of complex numbers. The main result is derived with the help of the generalized Kummer's summation theorem for the series $_2F_1$ obtained earlier by Choi. Further some special cases of the main result considered here are shown to include the results obtained earlier by Kim and Rathie and the identity due to Bailey.
