  • Three failure theories were studied to evaluate the wood strength variation with grain slope. Maximum stress theory, Tsai-Hill theory and Hankinson formula were presented to hypothesize the failure of wood according to grain slope to loading direction. Red pine and Japanese larch were used as materials to simulate failure strength prediction with grain slope. Calculation of strength results was that the strength of wood drops rapidly between parallel to grain orientation (0 degree) and 15 degree grain orientation. The strength of wood with grain orientation were somewhat different at small grain angles among failure theories, and this tendency was due to tension and compression distinction, and shear accounting in each theories. For the above 45 degree grain orientation, the predicted failure strength of wood with grain variation were very close in each failure theories and were useful in assessing failure strength of wood. The applicable these theories should be considered that the wood has different behavior in tension and compression, and this lead to different strength at small grain angles in each theories. Furthermore, reconsideration is needed to assess the failure strength of wood at small grain angles in Hankinson formula and further studies are necessary to accounting for shear behavior at small grain angles.

  • 1. Today mass communication informs us of the unethical behaviors of business almost everyday and the social interest about them including individuals implicated in loss and gain grows larger. It is the real aspect that business manager and scholars do not cope with the situation. 2. Five business ethical scales as justice theory, relativism, egoism, utilitarianism, deontological theory and information ethics were applied to this thesis. 3. Hypothesis : There will he a difference in the response on five ethical scales and the recognition degree of information ethics with consumers. 4. The response on five ethical scales with the sex of consumers showed a significant difference but that with the age showed a little difference that with the academic career showed a significant difference in justice theory, relativism, utilitarianism and deontological theory 5. The recognition degree of information ethics with the age and academic career of consumers showed a significant difference and the hypothesis was accepted, but that with the sex showed a little difference.

  • This study is concerned with H$_{\infty}$ control theory of nonlinear systems. Recently H$_{\infty}$ control theory has been developed to nonlinear systems, and especially nonlinear H$_{\infty}$ control theory based on the Hamilton-Jacobi inequality has been proposed. This corresponds to linear H$_{\infty}$ control theory based on the Riccati equation. In this paper, we apply it to a semi-active dynamic vibration absorber for multi-degree-of-freedom structure, and we design its state feedback controller via the Riccati equation. In the simulation, we show that it is effective for a vibration control.rol.

  • Many researchers have been investigating the design of multi-mode absorption vibration absorber for multi degree-of-freedom (DOF) system. The approach taken to this problem has been to find the optimized constants of stiffness and damping for the given set of single-DOF absorbers or single multi-DOF absorber attached to a multi degree-of-freedom system. This paper presents a novel geometrical and direct design theory of a 6 DOF vibration absorber via screw theory. Theoretical development is demonstrated by a practical example in which the diagonal stiffness matrix is synthesized using rectangular configuration of springs. The performance of this absorber is simulated by modal analysis.

  • A topological theory has been introduced to evaluate the degree of complexation and the viscosity of polymer complexes by extending the theory of Iliopoulos and Audebert for aqueous polymer solutions. The previous theory of Iliopoulos and Audebert has offered only a semiquantitative theoretical model for polymer complex systems, whereas our present work gives a general theoretical model applicable to all the polymer complex systems. Their theories considered only the physical property term caused by the displacement of complexed points between polymer solute chains, while our theory deals with all the physical effects, caused by the displacement of complexed points entangled points in polymer solute chains. There have been predicted the characteristics of physical properties from the expression. It is exposed that the predictive values show good agreement with the experimental data for polymer complexes.

  • In rapid prototyping, the optimal part orientation during fabrication is critical as it can improve part accuracy, minimize the requirement for supports and reduce the production time. Through investigating the geometric issues of STL model and process planning of RPM, This paper establishes optimizing model based on the considerations of staircase effect, support area and production time. The general satisfactory degree function is constructed employing the multi-objective optimization theory based on the general satisfactory degree principle. The best part-building orientation is obtained by solving the function employing generic algorithm. Experiment shows that the methods can effective resolve the part-building orientation in RP.

  • We get a theorem that there exist at least two solutions for the piecewise linear suspension bridge equation with variable coefficient jumping nonlinearity and Dirichlet boundary condition when the variable coefficient of the nonlinear term crosses first two successive negative eigenvalues. We obtain this multiplicity result by applying Leray-Schauder degree theory.

  • In this paper, the problem on periodic solutions of the bidirectional associative memory neural networks with both periodic coefficients and periodic time-varying delays is discussed. By using degree theory, inequality technique and Lyapunov functional, we establish the existence, uniqueness, and global asymptotic stability of a periodic solution. The obtained results of stability are less restrictive than previously known criteria, and the hypotheses for the boundedness and monotonicity on the activation functions are removed.
