Nonuniform Delayless Subband Filter Structure with Tree-Structured Filter Bank (트리구조의 비균일한 대역폭을 갖는 Delayless 서브밴드 필터 구조)

  • Adaptive digital filters with long impulse response such as acoustic echo canceller and active noise controller suffer from slow convergence and computational burden. Subband techniques and multirate signal processing have been recently developed to improve the problem of computational complexity and slow convergence in conventional adaptive filter. Any FIR transfer function can be realized as a serial connection of interpolators followed by subfilters with a sparse impulse response. In this case, each interpolator which is related to the column vector of Hadamard matrix has band-pass magnitude response characteristics shifted uniformly. Subband technique using Hadamard transform and decimation of subband signal to reduce sampling rate are adapted to system modeling and acoustic noise cancellation In this paper, delayless subband structure with nonuniform bandwidth has been proposed to improve the performance of the convergence speed without aliasing due to decimation, where input signal is split into subband one using tree-structured filter bank, and the subband signal is decimated by a decimator to reduce the sampling rate in each channel, then subfilter with sparse impulse response is transformed to full band adaptive filter coefficient using Hadamard transform. It is shown by computer simulations that the proposed method can be adapted to general adaptive filtering.

A New DIT Radix-4 FFT Structure and Implementation (새로운 DIT Radix-4 FFT 구조 및 구현)

  • Two basic FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) algorithms are the DIT(Decimation-In-Time) and the DIF (Decimation-In-Frequency). In spite of the advantage of the DIT algorithm is to generate a sequential output, various structures have not been made. In this paper, a new DIT Radix-4 FFT butterfly structure are proposed and implemented using Verilog coding. Through synthesis, it is shown that the 64-point FFT is implemented by 6.78 million gates. Since the proposed FFT structure has the advantage of a sequential output, it can be used in OFDM communication SoC(System on a Chip) which need a high speed FFT output.

  • This paper proposes an efficient decimation filter structure in programmable down converter for software radio. The decimation filter consists of the cascaded integrator-comb(CIC) filter, a compensation filter for CIC, cascaded comb and modified halfband filters, and programmable FIR filter. Since the compensation filter is used in CIC, the passband drooping is compensated and stopband attenuation is improved. Therefor the more decimation can be implemented in CIC filter. The compensation filter in CIC reduced the computational complexity of other decimation filters and the coefficients of PFIR, thereby achieving a significant hardware reduction over existing approaches. We can reduce the multiply operator by 20% in hardware and operation by 50% as compared with PDC of Harris.

  • This paper has been proposed a structure composed of FIRs and IIR filters as digital decimation filter to compensate the drooping inband on the high precision AU chips. The area of chip has been reduced compared with the conventional structure because the RAM and MAC is reduced. The passband ripple$(\leq\; 0.4535 \times fs)$, passband attenuation(at $\; 0.4535 \times fs$ and stopband attenuation$(\geq\; 0.59\times fs)$ of the 6th-order $\Delta\Sigma$ modulator and digital decimation filter had $\pm0.0007[dB]$, -0.0013[dB] and -110[dB] respectively. Also the inband group delay, which was almost same compared with the conventional digital decimation filter structure, was 30.07/fs[s] band the error of group delay was 0.1672%.

  • A continuous-time Delta-Sigma ADC has various benefits; it does not require an explicit anti-aliasing filter, and it is able to handle wider-band signals with less power consumption in comparison with a discrete-time Delta-Sigma ADC. However, it inherently needs to sample the signal with a high-speed clock, necessitating a complex decimation filter that operates at high speed in order to convert the modulator output to a low-rate high-resolution digital signals without causing aliasing. This paper proposes a continuous-time Delta-Sigma ADC architecture that employs pulse-width modulation and shows that the proposed architecture lends itself to a simpler implementation of the decimation filter using a lookup table.

Decimation-in-time Search Direction Algorithm for Displacement Prediction of Moving Object (이동물체의 변위 예측을 위한 시간솎음 탐색 방향 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, a decimation-in-time search direction algorithm for displacement prediction of moving object is proposed. The initialization of the proposed algorithm for moving direction prediction is performed by detecting moving objects at sequential frames and by obtaining a moving angle and a moving distance. A moving direction of the moving object at current frame is obtained by applying the decimation-in-time search direction mask. The decimation-in-tine search direction mask is that the moving object is detected by thinning out frames among the sequential frames, and the moving direction of the moving object is predicted by the search mask which is decided by obtaining the moving angle of the moving object in the 8 directions. to examine the propriety of the proposed algorithm, velocities of a driving car are measured and tracked, and to evaluate the efficiency, the proposed algorithm is compared to the full search algorithm. The evaluated results show that the number of displacement search times is reduced up to 91.8$\%$ on the average in the proposed algorithm, and the processing time of the tracking is 32.1ms on the average.

소프트웨어 라디오 시스템을 위한 계산이 간단한 디지털 채널라이저의 설계

  • Interpolated second order polynomials(ISOP's) are proposed to design efficient cascaded integrator-comb(CIC)-based decimation filters for a programmable downconverter. It is shown that some simple ISOP's can effectively reduce the passband droop caused by CIC filtering with little degradation in aliasing attenuation. In addition, ISOP's are shown to be useful for simplifying halfband filters that usually follow CIC filtering. As a result, a modified half band filter(MHBF) is introduced which is simpler than conventional halfband filters. The proposed decimation filter for a programmable downconverter is a cascade of a CIC filter, an ISOP, MHBF's and a programmable finite impulse response(FIR) filter. A procedure for designing the decimation filter is developed. In particular, an optimization technique that simultaneously designs the decimation filter is developed. In particular, an optimization technique that simultaneously designs the ISOP and programmable FIR filters is presented. Design examples demonstrate that the proposed method leads to more efficient programmable downconverters than existing ones.

  • Recently, Transmitter Identification(TxID) technology has been issued as a technology of ATSC DTV. ATSC DTV networks are comprised of a plurality of transmitters, broadcasting the same signal sing one frequency network(SFN) connected to EDOCR. In this single frequency network, TxID technology has been recognized as a technology in the ATSC DTV system since it enables the broadcast authorities and classify multiple transmitters. However, conventional TxID uses extremely long spreading sequence to identifying transmitters, so it increases H/W complexity and registers. Thus, to solve those hardware problems, we propose an efficient signal processing technology using decimation algorithm. Furthermore, we certified the availability of the proposed algorithm via various simulations.

  • This paper proposes a method for generating low-level geometric models with retaining salient features during decimation. Our method employs feature extraction technique for extracting feature lines defined via curvature derivatives on the model (we divide features into ridges and valleys). We add the extraction method to simplification technique (Feature Quadric Error Metric) for making coarse model with features. This paper clearly shows that experimental results have better quality and smaller geometric error than previous methods.

  • In this paper, new contrast enhancement algorithms that use temporal decimation method and approximated CDF(Cumulative Distribution Function) are proposed. They reduce the amount of computation which is required for image contrast enhancement. Simulation results show that the algorithms can achieve significant reduction in the computational cost and the hardware complexity. Visual test and standard deviation of their histogram have been introduced to evaluate the resultant output images of the proposed method and the original ones.
