  • Tin-doped indium oxide (ITO) thin films were deposited using r.f. magnetron reactive sputtering and the electrical properties, such as the resistivity, carrier concentration and mobility, were investigated as a function of the sample position under a given magnetron sputtering condition. The nonhomogeneity of the electrical properties with the sample position was observed under a given magnetron sputtering condition. The resistivity of ITO thin film on the substrate which corresponded to the center of the target had a minimum value, 2∼4$\times$10$\^$-4/$\Omega$$.$cm, and it increased symmetrically when the substrate deviated from the center. The density measurement result also showed that ITO thin film deposited at the center has a maximum density of 7.0g/cm$^3$, which was a relative density of about 97%, and the density decreased symmetrically as the substrate deviated from the center. The nonhomogeneity of electrical properties with the deposition position could be explained with the incidence angle of the source beam alpha, which is related with an atomic self-shadowing effect. It was confirmed experimentally that the density in film affect both the carrier mobility and the conductivity. In the case where the density of ITO thin film is 7.0g/cm$^3$, the magnitude of the mean free path was identical with that of the grain size(the diameter of column). However, in the other cases, the mean free path was smaller than the grain size. These results showed that the scattering of the free electrons at the grain boundary is the major factor for the electrical conduction in ITO thin films having a high density, and there exists other scattering sources such as vacancies, holes, or pores in ITO thin films having a low density.ing a low density.

These results are summarized as follows ; 1. The monitoring system consists of a signal process unit, motor drive sensor unit, radio modem unit and power supply. 2. The motor drive sensor unit protects the sensor from swift current or freezing and can constantly maintain fixed water level during measurements. 3. This monitoring system can transfer the data by radio modem. Additionally, this system can monitor hydrological conditions in real time. 4. The hardware was made of several modules with an independent CPU. They can be mounted, removed, repaired and added to. Their function can be changed and expanded. 5. These are the result of an accuracy test, the values of temperature, EC and pH measured within an error range of ${\pm}0.2^{\circ}C$, ${\pm}1{\mu}S$ and ${\pm}0.1pH$ respectively. 6. This monitoring system proved to be able to measure various factors for a forest hydrological environment in various experimental stations.

  • In electrical impedance tomography (EIT), modified Newton Raphson (mNR) method is widely used inverse algorithm for static image reconstruction due to its convergence speed and estimation accuracy. The unknown conductivity distribution is estimated iteratively by minimizing a cost functional such that the residual error namely the difference in measured and calculated voltages is reduced. Although, mNR method has good estimation performance, EIT inverse problem still suffers from ill-conditioned and ill-posedness nature. To mitigate the ill-posedness, generally, regularization methods are adopted. The inverse solution is highly dependent on the choice of regularization parameter. In most cases, the regularization parameter has a constant value and is chosen based on experience or trail and error approach. In situations, when the internal distribution changes or with high measurement noise, the solution does not get converged with the use of constant regularization parameter. Therefore, in this paper, in order to improve the image reconstruction performance, we propose a new scheme to determine the regularization parameter. The regularization parameter is computed based on residual error and updated every iteration. The proposed scheme is tested with numerical simulations and laboratory phantom experiments. The results show an improved reconstruction performance when using the proposed regularization scheme as compared to constant regularization scheme.

  • Biogenic amines are synthesized by microbial decarboxylation for the putrefaction or fermentation of foods containing protein. Although biogenic amines such as histamine, tyramine, and putrescine are required for many physiological functions in humans and animals, consumption of high amounts of biogenic amines can cause toxicological effects, including serious gastrointestinal, cutaneous, hemodynamic, and neurological symptoms. In this study, a novel amperometric biosensor wasdeveloped to detect biogenic amines. The biosensor consisted of a working electrode, a reference electrode, a counter electrode, an enzyme reactor with immobilized diamine oxidase, an injector, a peristaltic pump and a potentiostat. A working electrode was fabricated with a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) by coating functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT-$NH_2$) and by electrodepositing Prussian blue (PB) to enhance electrical conductivity. A sensor system with PB/MWCNT-$NH_2$/GCE showed linearity in the range of $0.5 {\mu}M{\sim}100 {\mu}M$ hydrogen peroxide with a detection limit of $0.5 {\mu}M$. The responses for tyramine, 2-phenylethylamine, and tryptamine were 95%, 75%, and 70% compared to that of histamine, respectively. These results imply that the biosensor system can be applied to the quantitative measurement of biogenic amines.

  • This study examined the effect of the nervous-system-stimulating caffeine on the nerve conduction velocity. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of caffeine that stimulates the nervous system on nerve conduction test. Although both measurement intervals did not show statistically significant differences when comparing the pre- and post-NCV values within the control and individual experimental groups, it was found that the nerve conductivity in the Axilla-Above Elbow section increased significantly after caffeine intake for the experimental group. Caffeine intake, which has increased the nerve conduction velocity (NCV), was determined to play roles in improving motor skills, muscle strength and nerve performance by temporarily increasing the nerve conduction velocity. Through this study, we learned that caffeine has an influence on the peripheral nervous system as it helps to improve the nerve conduction velocity. upon an appropriate amount of caffeine intake. We hope that these results will help develop treatment and diagnostic methods for patients with nerve dysfunction and myofunctional disorders.

  • Samsung Electro Mechanics ink jet has developed ultra high resolution alignment system. The alignment system has been developed for repeatable printing of conductive ink. The resolution of alignment system is 0.5um and the velocity of printing working plate is 1.5m/s. So far repeated printing results included sintering process have over 30um of drop mislocation data. In order to improve line thickness and conductivity of metal line, we need to develop the higher mechanical accurate align system. On the demand, this developed align system has under $1{\sim}2{\mu}m$ mispositioning performance and can measure of mechanical accuracy of inkjet printer, as well as the straightness of jetted drop from inkjet head. There is no kinds limit of substrate and ink to use SEM alignment system. By using this alignment system, we progress two experiment of reiterate printing drop and making conductive line on the glass and photo paper. Optical microscope and 3D profiler has been used for measurement of printed ink.

  • A vulcanization reaction characteristics of an isoprene rubber (IR)-modified natural rubber/carbon black (NR/CB) composite was studied using in-situ electrical property measuring technique. Since the electrical conductivity of the sample composite would be changed continuously during the vulcanization reaction by rearranging of the carbon black particles within the sample, volume resistivity (${\rho}$) might be obtained as a function or reaction time. A stabilization time ($t_i$), maximum reaction speed time ($t_p$), and volume resistivity at that time(${\rho}_p$) were defined from the data for the Arrhenius analysis. Volume resistivity ${\rho}$ showed a comparatively high value of ${\sim}10^8$ order before the reaction started, and dramatically decreased to be stabilized within $1{\sim}2$ minutes as soon as the reaction started. As the more time elapsed, thereafter, ${\rho}$ decreased monotonously to a certain constant value through a peak, ${\rho}_p$ at time $t_p$, which was considered as the maximum reaction rate. As a result, while $t_i$ values were comparatively constant as $1{\sim}2$ minutes, $t_p$ values showed to become shorter and shorter as the reaction temperature.

  • To improve the electrochemical performances of the cathode materials, boron-doped $LiNi_{0.90}Co_{0.05}Ti_{0.05}O_2$ were synthesized by using concentration gradient precursor. The characteristics of the prepared cathode materials were analyzed by XRD, SEM, EDS, PSA, ICP-OES and electrical conductivity measurement. The electrochemical performances were investigated by initial charge/discharge capacity, cycle stability, C-rate, cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The cathode material with 0.5 mol% boron exhibited a capacity of 187 mAh/g (0.5 C) in a voltage range of 2.7~4.3 V(vs. $Li/Li^+$), and an capacity retention of 94.7% after 50 cycles. In the relatively high voltage range of 2.7~4.5 V(vs. $Li/Li^+$), it showed a high capacity of 200 mAh/g and capacity retention of 80.5% after 50 cycles.

  • When a laser pulse is irradiated on a CNT (Carbon Nanotube) and PDMS (Poly dimethylsiloxane) composite coated on a transparent PMMA (Poly methyl methacrylate) substrate, a strong ultrasonic wave is generated due to the thermoelastic effect. In this paper, the thermoacoustic theory related to the wave generation by the CNT/PDMS composite was established. The waveforms of ultrasonic waves when a laser pulse having a Gaussian waveform is irradiated on the composite with a thickness of $20{\mu}m$ were numerically simulated. From the results, it was confirmed that ultrasonic shock waves can be generated from the CNT/PDMS composite and the waveforms are changed little even if the physical properties of the composite are changed by ${\pm}20%$. It was found that the peak positive and negative pressures increase as the thermal expansion coefficient increases, or as density, heat capacity and sound speed decreased. However, those changes were not so sensitive with thermal conductivity. In addition, the physical properties of the CNT/PDMS composite fabricated in this study were estimated from the comparison of the measurement and simulation results.
