  • In recent papers (Pak et al., Pak and Kim), it was suggested to positively use the history of mathematics for the education of mathematics and discussed the determining problem of the order of instruction in mathematics. There are three kinds of order of instruction - historical order, theoretical organization, lecturing organization. Lecturing organization order is a combination of historical order and theoretical organization order. It basically depends on his or her own value of education of each teacher. The present paper considers a concrete problem determining the order of instruction for the concept of angle. Since the concept of angle is defined in relation to figures, we have to solve the determining problem of the order of instruction for the concept of figure. In order to do this, we first investigate a historical order of the concept of figure by reviewing it in the history of mathematics. And then we introduce a theoretical organization order of the concept of figure. From these basic data we establish a lecturing organization order of the concept of figure from the viewpoint of problem-solving. According to this order we finally develop the concept of angle and a related global property which leads to the so-called Gauss-Bonnet theorem.

  • Two groups of students, who are the students in the natural science course of high school in Korea, learned the equation of figure in space (point, line, plane) to understand more effectively with two different textbooks. One group was taught with the textbook used now in most high schools and the other group was taught with the textbooks systematized by associating old concept with new concept. The results are as follows : 1) We need understand the basic concept of vector plainly and flexibly to apply it to the solution of problems. 2) It helps students understand new concepts how we should establish the concept about point, line and plane in space by applying the concept about those on XY plane, 3) It is very effective in understanding the new knowledge system more easily to analyze the existent concepts and to arrange them systematically for efficient understanding of new concepts. 4) The texts which consist of contents organized by basic concepts improve students' learning ability.

  • Chinese figure painting is the earliest type of painting to be mature in the history of Chinese painting. After its peak in the Jin and Tang dynasties, Chinese figure painting turned into a low tide in the Ming and Qing dynasties. Under the influence of the May Fourth New Culture Movement's concept of "introducing the Western culture into China", realistic ink wash figure painting emerged, which was different from traditional painting. Realistic ink wash figure painting is a new kind of painting that combines traditional Chinese painting methods with concepts of Western scientific painting. With the mutual reconciliation of realistic modeling and traditional Chinese painting, it makes up for the shortcomings of traditional Chinese figure painting in reproducing life, thus forming the diversified development of Chinese figure painting. Through an in-depth interpretation of the fusion of Chinese realistic ink figure painting with Chinese and Western, this paper accurately grasps the characteristics of the painting language, which is an important guide to the creation of Chinese realistic ink painting today.

  • Concepts of greater and greater complexity can be constructed by building systems of entities, by relating other entities to that system with a figure-ground relation, by embedding concepts of figure-ground in the concept of change, by embedding that in causality, and by coarsening the granularity and beginning the process over again. This process can be called the Ontological Ascent. It pervades natural language discourse, and suggests that to do lexical semantics properly, we must carefully axiomatize abstract theories of systems of entities, the figure-ground relation, change, causality, and granularity. In this paper, I outline what these theories should look like.

  • The purpose of the present research is to suggest implications on guidance of height concept understanding of figures by investigating concept understanding how sixth grade's elementary school students understand a height concept of figures. In order to achieve this research purpose, a height concept understanding test of figures was carried out with the target of 54 sixth grade students who already learned a height concept of plane figures and three-dimensional solid figures and thus this research analyzed characteristics and errors appeared there. When analyzing its characteristics and errors interviews with students were carried out for in-depth analysis. And as a result the following implications could be obtained. First, students felt more difficulty in measuring height in a figure that its lower base is not horizontal in questions measuring height of a plane figure. Second, there were cases that students associate a height concept of figures with experience of height experienced in daily life. Third, students were feeling difficulty in linguistically expressing a concept called height that oneself has. Expressing a concept linguistically plays an important role in understanding a concept clearly. Accordingly activities for raising this mathematical communication ability are required, Fourth, the present research can suggest implications in designing classes that students can clearly understand the height concept of figures.

  • It is well known to us that in its enlarged sense Deleuze's philosophy has confrontation with platonism that has dominated the whole western ideas, and in a narrow sense it is confrontation with representative thinking and representative arts. In other words, it's obvious what Deleuze has considered the most important in his whole of ideas is to think not in a representative way but in a non-representational way and to disentangle thinking from its representative image. To examine the way how Deleuze criticize representation, and how he overcome modern ideas is not just to make a clean breast of platonic inheritance. Because they are essential for facing up to the actual circumstances of our contemporaries who have degraded servility of totalitarian thoughts under the thinking of identity, and furthermore, it is essential for overcoming this situation and proceeding to nomadic thinking, liberating thinking. This study is not intended to be a definitive account of all his criticism of representation. Because, as is well known, Deleuze's criticism of representation contains a wide variety. And so this study were limited a relatively small number of points in Deleuze's position on representation as follows. How does Deleuze's criticism of representation has been developed in his theory of paintings? And what does it mean to us today? In this paper, I paid special regard to make sense out Deleuze's concept of 'figure' in his important writings that pertains to an analysis of his criticism of representation, Francis Bacon: The Logic of Sensation. And having traced the development process of the concept of 'figure', I want to understand the implicit meaning of the concept in constant flux of his critical thinking.

  • Because a development figure is treated restrictively in elementary school, not only there are brought out the concept image, but also the definition of the development figure in textbook in not unique. Furthermore, since the comparison and analysis of 'definition element' between the materials in textbook are nor carried out, its educational value as well as the teaching for concepts and objectives does not give rise to public discussion. In this note, we will investigate the definition and teaching of the development figure in Korea and Japan. And through three viewpoints of its definition and related debate, we will consider the fundamental understanding and objectiveness of a development figure, and suggest its mathematical application. This study will promote teachers's critical and didactical insight for the didactical transposition.

  • In this study, we designed and developed Web-based 3D figure learning program which can create and control the 3D figures effectively in cyberspace. To develop this learning program, we used the JAVA 3D because JAVA 3D can express 3D figures effectively in cyberspace and is platform independent. This program is very helpful for learners to understand the concept of 3D space and the formulation of space concept effectively. Also it motivates learners to understand 3D figures study and enables Self-Directed-Learning.

  • In this paper function concept is classified in the phenomenological aspect. According to the study, function concept is classified as causality, designation, operation, change, figure, morhism, variables, functional, and operator. This classifications are categorized as pre-level function, basic level function, and upper level function.
