  • To prevent the stable states from the complex dynamics, the global behavior of the overall system must be considered. Thus, indirect adaptive scheme might result in needless responses. Discrete-time variable structure controllers for a well-known logistic map are designed for two deferent sliding hyperplanes. Impulse disturbances are fully rejected by tile virtue of discrete-time variable structure control(DVSC). A numerical example is given to illustrate the effectless of the DVSC.

  • An Interference Cancellation Wireless Repeater transmitts directly amplified the RF signal input to extend the coverage of the base station. Such a repeater inevitably suffers from the feedback interferences due to the environment and the adaptive Interference Cancelling System(ICS) is necessary. In this paper, the Variable Stepsize Complex Sign -Sign(VSCSS) LMS algorithm for ICS is presented. The algorithm can be implemented without multiplication/division arithmetic operation so that the required logic resources can be dramatically reduced in FPGA implementation. The performance of the proposed algorithm was analyzed in comparison with CSS-LMS algorithm and the learning curves obtained from simulation showed an excellent agreement with the theorical prediction. The simulation result with ICS in fading feedback channel environment showed the performance of the proposed algorithm is competible with NLMS algorithm.

  • This paper suggests the new techmology to control metal flow in order to reduce the number of preforming and machining for the cold forged product with complex geometry. This technology can be summarized the complex forming, which consists of bulk forming and sheet forming, and multi-action forging, which be preformed double action dies. To analyze the process, finite element simulation has been performed. The proposed technology is applied to hub which is part of air conditioner clutch. According to the result of this study, the relative velocity of mandrel and punch is primary process variable.

  • In this paper we introduce the notion of paranormed p-absolutely convergent and paranormed Cesro summable sequences of complex uncertain variables with respect to measure, mean, distribution etc. defined by on Orlicz function. We have established some relationships among these notions as well as with other classes of complex uncertain variables.

  • In this paper, multi-variable fuzzy model for efficient combustion control of refuse incineration plant is obtained. First, to obtain model of incineration plant which is complex and nonlinear multi-variable fuzzy modeling is performed. Obtained multi-variable fuzzy model predicts outputs of incinerator almost exactly. Then using multi-variable fuzzy model we can build simulator which is used as operation simulator for building of control strategy and training of operator.

  • Continuously variable damper can yield diverse damping forces for a single damping velocity. It is widely used in the semi-active suspension system since, with right control logics, it can enhance ride comfort compared to the passive damper while not degrading driving safety. A key to the successful design of the continuously variable damper is the knowledge of its complex and nonlinear characteristics. In this paper, research has been done for analyzing characteristics of the continuously variable damper. Various damper components have been investigated and their effects upon the force-velocity characteristics of the damper have been examined. The effects of the damper characteristics change upon ride comfort and driving safety have also been investigated by numerical simulations.

  • We present a latent variable model-based approach to the analysis of gene expression patterns, coupled with topographic clustering. Aspect model, a latent variable model for dyadic data, is applied to extract latent patterns underlying complex variations of gene expression levels. Then a topographic clustering is performed to find coherent groups of genes, based on the extracted latent patterns as well as individual gene expression behaviors. Applied to cell cycleregulated genes of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, the proposed method could discover biologically meaningful patterns related with characteristic expression behavior in particular cell cycle phases. In addition, the display of the variation in the composition of these latent patterns on the cluster map provided more facilitated interpretation of the resulting cluster structure. From this, we argue that latent variable models, coupled with topographic clustering, are a promising tool for explorative analysis of gene expression data.

  • In this study, we developed 3D MLS-based variable-node elements for easy meshing. These elements should be derived from 2D MLS-based variable-node elements and would be utilized as key elements of easy meshing technique we proposed. Using developed 3D MLS-based variable-node elements, we demonstrated several examples having complex configuration compared with conventional meshing technique. Moreover, we compared with the stress results of our model and conventional one.

  • As proved in many studies, LZW algorithm, one of the widely used compression schemes, itself contains some types of redundancy, In this paper, VV-LZW coompression algorithm is presented which encodes variable length source string into variable size codewords and reduces such redundancies that the original LZW scheme has. Experiment shows that this scheme especially has good initial compression efficiency and produces more complex output strings than the original LZW. This scheme is very useful to the data compression with small size, and the applications such as crytography.

  • The purpose of this research is to analyze the sensitivity of WindSIM in complex terrain. As the flat areas for wind turbine installation become scarce globally, it becomes inevitable to install wind turbines in complex terrain. In order to predict annual energy production (AEP) in a more precise manner in complex terrain, it is of great importance to conduct such research. Three parameters: reference velocity, roughness and resolution have been chosen to see to which parameter WindSIM was the most sensitive in terms of annual energy production in complex terrain. By fixing two parameters and setting one parameter as a variable, it could be easily found that how annual energy production was effected by the change in each parameter.
