The Influence of materialism and Environment Consciousness on Recycling Attitude and Behavior of Clothing (물질주의 성향과 환경의식이 의복의 재활용태도 및 행동에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to ensure that materialism is an important explanation variable not only for consumption behavior of clothing but also for recycling attitude and behavior of clothing. Therefore, we investigated the influence of materialism and environment consciousness on recycling attitude and behavior of clothing. A total of 210 survey questionnaires were collected. The results revealed that materialism didn't directly affect recycling attitude, but that the happiness dimension of materialism negatively affected environment consciousness and that materialism indirectly affected recycling attitude and behavior via environment consciousness. Environment consciousness dimensions partially affected recycling attitude and behavior of clothing. Recycling altitude positively affected recycling behavior.

A Study on Socially Responsible Clothing Acquisition Behavior respond to Altruistic and Economic Incentives toward Recycling of Clothing(Part II) (재활용 동기 부여에 따른 사회책임적 의류 획득 행동에 관한연구(제2보))

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the Korean consumers' socially responsible clothing acquisition behavior respond to altruistic and economic incentives toward recycling of clothing and the relations between demographic variables and acquisition behavior. Data were collected from the adult females residing in Seoul. Judgement Sampling were performed twice and total 549 sets of answers were used for final analysis. The results are as follows : First the consumers of favoring altruistic and economic incentive prefer to acquire clothing with free cost and the consumers favoring altruistic incentive tend to acquire clothing through unknown persons,. Second the analysis of relationship between the attitude toward recycling incentives and the demographic variables shows that the consumers with relatively higher education have strong will for recycling by altruistic incentive. Third the analysis of relationship between acquisition behavior and the demographic variables shows that consumers with relatively lower education normally acquire clothing from unknown persons and from acquaintance. In addition married persons tend to acquire clothing at free of cost.

Clothing Preference and Management Behaviors of the Korean Elderly Women

  • This study aimed to give an updated description of general clothing behavior patterns of the Korean elderly women. 430 women over 60 years old residing in Seoul wre surveyed with a questionnaire asking about their daily practices of clothing selection, disposal, recycling, quantity and place of purchase, and their background variables. Data were treated to SPSS for descriptive statistics, Chi-square analysis, ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test. The result revealed that the wardrobe of the Korean aged women is by now fully oriented toward the western style. The subjects disposed of their clothing mainly because of their body size changes and had elementary fitting problems unsolved. They had clothing recycling experinces and turned out to be inactive clothing consumers with differing shopping places according to the types of clothing items to be purchased. The subjects'age and income level had significant effects on various facets of their clothing behavior.

The effect of eco-friendly behaviors and attitudes on behaviors of clothing recycling - Focused on UK, China, Korea - (친환경 행동 및 태도가 의복 재활용 행동에 미치는 영향 - 영국, 중국, 한국을 중심으로 -)

  • This study was executed to deduce the factors affecting eco-friendly behaviors and attitudes, to analyse the difference of eco-friendly behaviors and attitudes between countries, and to draw the variables affecting clothing recycling behavior. The sample comprised people from the UK, China, South Korea. The results were as follows. The four factors related to eco-friendly behaviors and the five factors related to eco-friendly attitudes were derived from the results of factor analysis. In the case of eco-friendly behaviors, four eco-friendly behavior factors showed a significant difference all according to gender and country. In the case of eco-friendly attitudes, saving of natural resources for eco-friendly life, recycling for eco-friendly life, and individual preference for eco-friendly life showed a significant according to gender, also recycling for eco-friendly life, individual preference for eco-friendly life, social awareness for eco-friendly life, and company's awareness for eco-friendly life showed a significant difference according to country. All of the variables related to clothing recycling behaviors showed the significant difference according to gender and countries. It was verified that the stronger the behaviors or attitudes for waste recycling and environmental protection, individual preference for eco-friendly life, saving of natural resources, buying eco-friendly products, and separate collection for recycling, the more positive the action to clothing recycling. The results of this study will be helpful to establish a marketing strategy for each country and to deduce a plan to attract clothing recycling form people.

Environmental consciousness, clothing recycling behavior and interest in fashion by awareness of upcycling and purchasing behavior for upcycled fashion products of middle & high school students (중고등학생의 업사이클링 인지와 업사이클 패션제품 구매행동에 따른 환경의식, 의복재활용행동, 패션관심)

  • Purchasing behavior for upcycled fashion products was examined along with analysis on environment consciousness, clothing recycling behavior, interest in fashion and awareness of upcycling. Students from middle schools, general high schools and design high schools participated in this research from August to September in 2013. 732 questionnaires were analyzed by SPSS WIN. Firstly the levels of environmental consciousness, clothing recycling behavior and interest in fashion of students were high, low and mediate respectively. Female students showed higher environmental consciousness compared to male ones and clothing recycling behavior were found to be higher in students of design high schools than those of general ones. The level of interest in fashion was found to be higher in students of general high school than those of middle school, and this was higher in design high school students than those of general ones. Secondly, more than half of students were unaware of upcycling. Female students and students of design high schools were highly aware of upcycling. Students who were aware of upcycling showed high level of environmental consciousness, clothing recycling behaviour and interest in fashion. Thirdly, students had low experiences in purchasing upcycled fashion products and the reason was lack of awareness of upcycling. The reason that students purchased upcycled fashion products was the uniqueness and design. Students who purchased upcycled fashion products showed high environmental consciousness, clothing recycling behaviour, and interest in fashion.

  • This study, focused on reuse of the concepts of unused clothing recycling, was intended to provide basic materials and suggestions for establishing the drastic measures necessary for consumer education related to recycling by investigating how experiences in the recycling of unused clothes would show up according to environmental consciousness and recycling consciousness and then probing the scheme for the recycling of clothes. Since it was found that recycling consciousness was the variable that exerted a great effect on experiences in recycling unused clothes, consumer education about recycling will have to be revitalized. And detailed and specialized education on environmental consciousness is more important than emphasis on the importance of environmental consciousness.

A Study on Clothing Recycling Disposition Behavior -Focusing on the Unmarried Women Workers- (의복재활용처분행동에 관한 연구 -미온 취업여성의 사장의복을 중심으로-)

  • This study puts an emphasis on the importance clothing and its reuse, dealing with the unmarried women workers who will be main domestic consumers. Questionnaire survey method was used in this research. The sample was taken from 546 unmarried women workers. The major findings are summarized as follows, it was found that Factor I was the cause of unplanned clothing management, Factor II was the cause of clothing modification and body type changes and Factors III was the cause of fashionmongering. Second, it was shown that as for experiences in hoarded clothing recycling disposition behavior subjective social strate had the high level, the group of sale and technical jobs / self-employed jobs had the higher level than the group of specialized skil / management jobs, the group in office-going and leaving clothing had the higher level than the group of people in separate uniform as working dress and the group of those experienced in environmental education had the high level.

An Analysis of the Curriculum for School Uniform Recycling Education and the Need for School Uniform Recycling (교복 재활용 필요성과 교복 재활용 교육을 위한 교과과정 분석)

  • The objectives of this study were to investigate the need for school uniform recycling and to review the school uniform recycling-related education. 231 female high school students were asked to answer regarding the wearing state of school uniform and their satisfaction level. 10 subjects in middle school technology/home economy were evaluated. As the result, the students wore 1~2 pieces of school uniform, which showed that it was hard to keep them clean by washing them often. The satisfaction level of school uniform was not high, The lowest item was the price. Therefore, to increase the satisfaction level of the school uniforms and also to increase the sanitary level of the school uniforms, it was advisable to purchase a recycled school uniform at cheaper prices to have an extra set. For a vitalization of the recycled school uniforms, the middle school technology/home economy subjects were reviewed. In the topic of "clothing acquisition plan and purchase", the themes of planned purchase, overconsumption of clothing and environmental pollution were discussed and included preferable behaviors for disposal. The topic of "clothing manufacturing and recycling" listed recycling the clothes that are not worn or exchanging them with neighbors as well as suggesting methods to illicit environment-friendly behaviors and carrying them out. However, some textbooks only briefly explained the methods of recycling and more detailed and practical methods need to be suggested in the curriculum. In addition, the contents regarding the environment in the clothing topic need to be supplemented more and more changes, such as related education plans or data development, are required.   • The purpose of this study is to clearly understand the Korean consumer's socially responsible consumption attitude and disposition behavior through revealing by use Fishbein's Multi-Attributes Model as a conceptual frame, the relationship between the socially responsible clothing consumption attitude factors and disposition behavior pattern, and relations of demographic variables. Data were collected from the adult females residing in Seoul. Judgment Sampling were. performed twice during March of 1996 and total 549 sets of answers were used for final analysis. The result are following. First, by looking at the relationship between intrinsic side of socially responsible consumption attitude and disposition behavior, the attitude shows more economical disposition when consumers are in considerate about preservation of natural resources and clothing consumption and when consumers favor purchasing a second hand product, On the other hand, consumers' behavior shows more altruistic disposition, when they favor recycling and acquisition of second hand clothing and when not favor fashion. The result of analysis of relationship between the socially responsible clothing consumption attitude and demographic variables shows that income, age and education level relates to some intrinsic side of socially responsible clothing consumption attitude. On the other side, the analysis result shows that consumers with relatively lower education normally practice economical dispotion, while consumers with higher education level do altruistic disposition. Also, elder and married consumers tend to do more altruistic disposition.

  • This study was to apply FLC(Fashion Life Cycle) concept with extended PLC(Product Life Cycle) theory of marketing for a basis. This article was particularly analyzed relations between demographic variables and fashion lifestyle toward consumer's behavior at decline stage of FLC empirical study was to target women's formal dress. Data were collected from the adult females residing in Youngnam district. Sampling were peformed pretest and main survey. Total 386pcs of answers were used for final analysis. The results of analysis were as follows. First, Hypothesis 1 & 4 were showed meaningful differences between fashion lifestyle patterns and consumer's behavior at decline stage of FLC according to demographic characteristics. Second, Hypothesis 2 also was adopted meaningful differences of consumer's hoarding behavior at decline stage of FLC in accordance with fashion lifestyle patterns. Third, Hypothesis 3 of fashion lifestyle patterns which has related consumer's recycling behavior at decline stage of FLC was rejected. In conclusion, This article discusses implication of fashion marketing strategies and summaries..
