A Study on the Relationship Between Personality Traits and Clothing Interest of Girls' High School Students (성격특성과 의상흥미간의 상관관계 연구 -서울 시내의 여고생을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between personality traits ana clothing interest in girls' high school students The results were as follows : 1. In the personality traits of higher groups, the subjects scored highest in Sociability followed by Ascendancy and Self-Confidence in a descending order. In the clothing interest, the subjects scored highest in clothing interest of shopping followed by clothing interest of design & fashion, clothing interest of construction, clothing interest of management and clothing interest of psychological aspect in a descending order. 2. There was partially significant relationship between personality traits and clothing into rest. 3. There were highly significant relationships among clothing interest subscales. Specially, there was the highest significant relationship between clothing interest of design & fashion and clothing interest of shopping. 4. There was partially significant relationship between clothing interest and background of home.

Survey on Consumer's Cognition for Management of Clothing Products (의류제품에 대한 소비자의 인식과 취급실태)

  • To investigate the cognition of labeling system and its problems, problems in laundry, and consumer's dissatisfaction and to decrease problems in management of clothing products, total 476 subjects were surveyed in Taejon. The major results were as follows ; 1. The cognition of labeling system was understood by 93.1% of respondents, and 72.9% of them prefer to recognized labeling by figures and letters than by either of them. Most of respondents got the knowledge of labeling system from school. The most frequently experienced mislabeling was the label for management. 2. In cleaning, 60.4% of respondents made their decisions of the laundry method after seeing labeling system. When the label recommanded either of hand washing or dry cleaning, they usually laundered with hand washing after a few times of dry cleaning. The first consideration factor for laundry was fiber composition of textiles. 3. About 70% of respondents understood ironing, laundry, and drying mark on labeling system, and 53.8% understood fiber composition and bleaching. 4. More than 90% of respondents experienced dissatisfaction in handling clothing products. The reason of dissatisfaction was deformation and decoloring after laundry. Most of respondents experienced change of tactile sensation, too.

The Effects of Narcissistic Personality and Self-Esteem on the Appearance Management Behaviors of Female College Students (여대생의 자기애적 성격과 자아존중감이 외모 관리 행동에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of narcissistic personality and self-esteem on the appearance management behaviors(weight, skin care, makeup, hair care, clothing selection) of female college students. The questionnaires were administrated to 362 female college students living in Gwang-ju city, Korea. For analysis of data, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, Cronbach'$\alpha$, regression analysis were applied. The results were summarized as follows. First. the female college students' narcissistic personality was categorized into four factors, need for administration, leadership/self-confidence, need for power/entitlement, and superiority. Second, narcissistic personality significantly influenced appearance management behaviors. The further examination of the effects showed that need for administration appeared to affect clothing selection, hair care, skin care, makeup, and weight. Third, self-esteem turned out to have positive effects on overall appearance management behaviors. The further examination of the effects showed that self-esteem appeared to affect clothing selection, skin care, hair care, makeup, and weight. The results indicated that female college students' narcissistic personality and self-esteem were important factors to their appearance management behaviors and marketing programs for fashion industries.

Clothing Preference and Management Behaviors of the Korean Elderly Women

  • This study aimed to give an updated description of general clothing behavior patterns of the Korean elderly women. 430 women over 60 years old residing in Seoul wre surveyed with a questionnaire asking about their daily practices of clothing selection, disposal, recycling, quantity and place of purchase, and their background variables. Data were treated to SPSS for descriptive statistics, Chi-square analysis, ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test. The result revealed that the wardrobe of the Korean aged women is by now fully oriented toward the western style. The subjects disposed of their clothing mainly because of their body size changes and had elementary fitting problems unsolved. They had clothing recycling experinces and turned out to be inactive clothing consumers with differing shopping places according to the types of clothing items to be purchased. The subjects'age and income level had significant effects on various facets of their clothing behavior.

  • This study was aimed to find out the problems of wearing flame-proof clothing and to analytically assess functional working-clothes, thus to propose a new design. We carried out a questionnaire with workers in the field and evaluated the facility for wearing, the sensation of wearing and clothing microclimate in the environmental chamber. We found out the problems were in the parts of neck, armpits, armhole, sleeve, crotch and suspenders. Thermal sensation, wet sensation and comfort sensations were evaluated to be 'hot', 'wet' and near to discomfort', respectively. Therefore, improvement of movement and air permeability is needed. If we can add gusset on armpit for air permeability, this gusset will enable to enlarge the surface in armpit area and finally give a movement efficiency. We suggested several new partly modified design for flame-proof clothing which can be applied to other protective clothing for improvement. This must be further considered in the ergonomic evaluation of new proposed functional working-clothes as well as in the suggestion of design.

  • This study was examined the characteristics of individual or an organization differences of oriented value and shared value for the employees in the field and management division of clothing enterprises in Korea. The hypothesis of this study are as follows: <Hypothesis 1> The field employees of clothing enterprise would prefer to have a professional tendency and the management employees would prefer to have the organizational tendency. <Hypothesis 2> The employees who have organizational tendency would have higher shared standard of organization value than the employees of professional tendency. As a result of the study, the hypothesis 1 has accepted as showing the mean value is high when the field employees have their professional tendencies and the management employees also have their organizational tendencies respectively. The hypothesis 2 has also accepted that the employees who have organizational tendency have higher shared value than the employees of professional tendency.

  • This study verifies the constituents of the professional image by a quantitative method that follows previous qualitative work to clarify the conceptual structure of the professional image for appearance management in the workplace. This study used on-line and off-line data from a positive sampling that involved 1,056 male and female workers engaged in 10 occupational classes. The results of the study were as follows: First, the constituents of a professional image include openness, leadership, harmonious relationship, and financial power, all of which demonstrated a high interrelationship. Second, there are significant differences in favorable factors according to the occupational category. It is important to strategically manage the professional image in consideration of effective image factors and related appearance attributes.

  • This study proposes the O P E N Triad framework as a future set of tools and perspectives for individual members and institutes to further their professional and academic potential as well as prospect and vitalize the future of the Korean Clothing and Textiles discipline through a global perspective. The millennial generation desires On-demand, Personal, Engaging, and Networked (O P E N) experiences effecting cultural change for creative and influential interaction in transactions, communication, and education. O P E N Individuals offers a WebSphere model as a holistic learning system that has a synergizing value of education across academic courses, industries, and cultures. Through a digitalized and virtualized class, it complements relevant technologies already familiar to the student population. By employing environmental scanning approaches, the most influential and viable future global issues related to the clothing and textiles discipline are identified and dialogued within O P E N Institutes. For future clothing and textiles institutes, this scanning allows them to be open to new ideas, to focus on inter-engagements, to collaborate among individuals, to associate as a part of web of people, organizations, and ideas, to personalize an institutes curricula, and to dialogue generative knowledge. O P E N Industries reveals three dominant future issues that cross academia and industry, sustainability, supply chain management, and social networking. In-depth interviews with U.S. industry experts identified interdependent gaps in global consumer experience practices and suggested the following gaps as future research areas: a standardized business model to the entrepreneurial model, strategic management to a sustainable competitive advantage, standardized to differentiated products, services and operations, market segmentation to global consumer clusters, business-driven marketplaces to consumer-engaged marketspaces, and excellent services to optimal experience. Apparel production methods of domestic fashion brands for the activation of K-fashion (K-패션 활성화를 위한 국내 패션브랜드의 의류생산 방식 고찰)

  • The purpose of this study is to systematize various clothing production methods that domestic fashion brands are utilizing to produce fashion products, and to propose effective clothing production methods according to the characteristics. The research methods are contents analysis method of the literatures, articles, reports, and interviewing method of the practitioners who are in charge of the production of fashion. First, the clothing production methods of the domestic fashion brands are categorized as follows. It is divided into a fashion brand management method and a promotion company entrustment method based on who carries out the clothing production and management. The fashion brand management method is subdivided into the 'rental-production', 'CMT', and 'self-production' methods. All three methods are performed at domestic and global sourcing, but the CMT method is more utilized at the global sourcing. The promotion company entrustment method is subdivided into the 'full consignment production method', the 'CMT method involving promotion company', and 'direct buying method by promotion company'. All methods are performed at domestic and global sourcing. Second, the results of reviewing effective clothing production methods, according to characteristics are as follows. If fashion brands control the production and management, they use all three fashion brand management methods. The fashion brands use the promotion company entrustment method when they wants to offer special products, or the number of items is large, or the production management is difficult, or the manpower and equipment size is reduced. The domestic sourcing is utilized by fashion brands and promotion companies when production management is required for high quality apparel production, in case of trendy and complex designs, spot production, and in small quantity production. The global sourcing is utilized by fashion brands and promotion companies when it comes to lowering the production cost, fashion brands preferred the mass production of apparel with design that can be pre-planned.
