The purpose of this study was to extend the social teaming and imitation theory in an attempt to examine the effect of star-entertainer imitation behavior on clothing behaviors in relation to adolescents' age and gender variables. The research was a survey and the subjects were 895 adolescents in Taejon, Korea. The measuring instruments was serif-administrated questionnaire consisted of star-entertainer imitation behaviors and clothing behaviors. The collected data were analyzed using factor analysis, ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test. Results were as fellows: 1) The results of analysing the response of star-entertainer imitation behaviors showed that adolescents had very positive attitudes and high psychological need to identify self with star-entertainers, however, their actual identification behaviors were not very noticeable because of parents' restraint and school regulations on students' appearances and clothing behaviors. 2) The results of analysing the response of clothing behaviors showed four factors such as 'fashion$.$clothing interest', 'psychological dependency on clothing' , 'clothing exhibition', and 'clothing conformity'. 3) Star-entertainer imitation behaviors had significant effects on clothing behaviors; the group with more star-entertainer imitation behaviors showed more fashion$.$clothing interest, higher psychological dependency on clothing and clothing exhibition, and lower clothing conformity than the group with less star-entertainer imitation behaviors. 4) Clothing behaviors showed the differences according as adolescents' age and gender; the female adolescents showed more fashion$.$clothing interest and clothing exhibition than male, the high school and cortege age groups showed higher psychological dependency on clothing than other age groups. It is concluded that the results of this study support social teaming and imitation theory since TV media give strong influence on the TV viewers through presenting various modeling stimuli to adolescents' lives.
The purpose of this study was to investigate relationship between individualism collectivism clothing behaviors and clothing purchasing motives among high school students and the difference of individualism collectivism clothing behaviors and clothing purchasing motives according to demographic variables. And we also took a close look at how they turned out in their actual clothes-buying. The questionaire survey was used toward 55 high school students in seoul region during October 1998. SAS package program were used to analyze the gatherd data. Frequency Percentage Factor Analysis Duncan test Correlation Analysis and so on. The conclusion based on the results are as follow; 1. The analysis of correlations among individualism collectivism clothing behaviors and motivations showed that there are significant correlations among them 2. There are significant differences in individualism collectivism clothing behaviors and clothing purchasing motives according to demographic variables. 3. There also are significant differences in what motivates them to buy clothes and what they actually purchased(=their motives to buy clothes and their actual purchasing).
The purpose of this study is to identify the influential factors of clothing conspicous consumption, and the relationship between these consumer characteristics and clothing purchasing behaviors. The influential factors of clothing conspicous consumption are defined materialism, sensation seeking tendency and demographic characteristics. And clothing purchasing behavior can be defined such as fashion leadership, impulsive purchasing behaviors, bargain sale purchasing, and the price and total pieces of clothing. The data were collected from 320 female students of university using questionnaire, and were analysed with frequency, %, multiple regression, ANOVA and Duncan test. Reresults can be summerized as follows. First, clothing conspicous consumption was not influenced to sensation seeking tendency but materialism. Second, the sensation seeking tendency, materialism and clothing conspicous consumption was proven to be partially related to the clothing purchasing behaviors. Third, the demographic characteristics have influenced on the sensation seeking tendency, materialism, clothing conspicous consumption and clothing purchasing behaviors.
The purposes of this study are to segment women consumers on the basis of clothing shopping orientation and to investigate clothing purchasing behaviors of each segmented group by age variable for development of effective fashion marketing strategies to meet very changeable modern consumers' needs. The research methodology is survey and subjects were 650 women aged from 20s to 60s. The questionnaire consist of measurement items for clothing shopping orientation, clothing purchasing behaviors and subjects' demographic attributions. The data were analyzed by Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, factor analysis, cluster analysis, $x^2$ test, ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test, using SPSS program. The results are as follows. First, 5 factors were emerged on clothing shopping orientation. Second, women consumers are segmented into 4 types(conspicuous, convenient, pleasurable, and unconcerned type) by clothing shopping orientation. Third, each consumer type divided by age variable showed some important differences on demographic characteristics and various clothing purchasing behaviors. Therefore, the results of this study support that clothing shopping orientation can be useful as one of the effective differentiated variables to segment women consumer market and age variable has important mediate effects on the differences of clothing purchasing behaviors by clothing shopping orientation type.

The purposes of this study were to reveal the relation of consumer value variables and to identify the difference of clothing information exploration behaviors on consumer value variables. The data were collected from 267 college women residing in Gwangju using a Questionnaire to general value, clothing value, consumption value and clothing information exploration behaviors. It were analyzed with factor analysis, cluster analysis, T-test, ANOVA and multiple regression analysis using statistical program SPSS 10.0. The results of this research were as follows: 1. Only one factor of general value had a significant influence on 'practical' of clothing value. All of general value and clothing value had a significant influence on the whole consumption value. 2. Clothing information search behaviors was divided into three factors: 'variety pursuit' 'active information collection' and 'uniqueness pursuit'. General value group had a significant difference in 'variety pursuit' and 'active information collection' behavior. Clothing value and consumption value group had a significant difference in all factors of clothing information search behaviors. By implication, this study could be explain each contributions of consumer values and suggest useful variable of consumer values in future clothing behaviors research.

The purposes of this study were to investigate the relationships among body image, social self concept, and clothing behaviors of adolescents, and to find out the differences of the relationships among these three variables by adolescents' sex and age variables. The research method was survey and the subjects were 656 male and female adolescents in Daejeon. The questionnaire consisted of 4 measuring instruments; body image, social self concept, clothing behaviors and demographic attribution. The data were analyzed by Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, factor analysis, t-test, and path analysis, using SPSS program. The results were as follows. First, adolescents generally evaluated their bodies as middle level on their physical attractiveness and had positive social self concept. And high school students had more positive body image and social self concept than middle school students. Second, on clothing behaviors, 5 dimensions were emerged: clothing interest, psychological dependency of clothing, clothing ostentation, clothing conformity, and clothing satisfaction. Third, there were close correlations among body image, social self concept, and clothing behaviors; body image and social self concept had close interrelationship each other. However, body image had close relationship with only clothing satisfaction dimension, whereas social self concept had close relationships with all clothing behavior dimensions except clothing conformity. In conclusion, this results showed that body image, social self concept and clothing behaviors have close interrelations, therefore, clothing play an important role to enhance adolescents' body image and social self concept.
The purposes of this study were to categorize of pro-environmental clothing purchasing and disposal behaviors and to identify impacts of health and environment consciousness on pro-environmental clothing purchase and disposal behaviors. The subjects were homemakers (n=381), and they were segmented into LOHAS group, environment conscious group, unconscious group, and wellbeing group according to their health and environment consciousness. Older homemakers were included in LOHAS group and environment conscious group. And these homemakers performed pro-environmental clothing purchasing and disposal behaviors better than wellbeing group or unconscious group. Health consciousness was positively related with the second-hand clothing purchasing and recycling. Environment consciousness was positively related with clothing made with organic, natural or functional materials, or the second-hand clothing purchasing, and recycling of the second-hand clothing. There was a need to develop continuing education programs to strengthen homemakers' health and environment consciousness, or to upgrade their pro-environmental clothing purchase and disposal behaviors.
This study aims to investigate the relationship between consumers’ clothing consumption values, demographic features, and clothing disposal behaviors. The data were collected from 300 women aged between 20 and 59 through the online survey with the self-administered questionnaire. A series of exploratory and confirmative factor analysis was conducted to identify the dimensions of clothing consumption values and clothing disposition behaviors. Clothing consumption values consisted of six dimensions including conditional value, individuality value, fashion value, social value, practical value, and self-expression value. Clothing disposition behaviors were discovered as four dimensions such as discarding, giving, selling, and donating. A structural equation modeling analysis was employed to examine the relationship between clothing consumption values and disposition behaviors. While individuality value, fashion value, and practical value had a significantly positive impact on donating, giving, and discarding behaviors, both practical value and self-expression value negatively influenced discarding behavior. Fashion value negatively affected giving behavior. Employing a series of MANOVA, one-way ANOVA and sheffe's multiple range test, this study found that there were significant effects of age, marital status, monthly income, and monthly clothing expenses on giving and donating behaviors. This study suggests that fashion firms should be aware of clothing disposition in terms of social and environmental concerns and understand diverse consumer disposal behaviors and utilize them as a social marketing strategy.
The purpose of this study was to exam the effects of gender-role identity on adolescents' self esteem, clothing behaviors and favorite clothing image, focusing on analysis by adolescent' sex and age variable. The research method was survey and the subjects were 447 male and female adolescents in Daejeon, Korea. The questionnaire consisted of 4 measurement instruments (gender-role identity, self-esteem, clothing behaviors, and favorite clothing image) and subject' demographic attributions. The data were analyzed by factor analysis, $X^2$ test, t-test, ANOVA(analysis of variance), Duncan's multiple range test, and Pearson's correlation analysis, using SPSS program. The results are as follows. First, adolescents' gender-role identity and self- esteem were different by age rather than sex. Middle school students were represented by undifferentiated type while high school students were represented by androgynous type, and high school students had higher self-esteem than middle school students. Second, four factors emerged on clothing behaviors(clothing interest & psychological dependence, ostentation, conformity, and comfort), and favorite clothing image(characteristic, neat, active, and romantic image). Third, gender-role identity had important effects on self esteem; androgynous type had higher self esteem than other gender-role identity type. Forth, self-esteem had significant relationship with clothing behaviors and favorite clothing image, and these relationships were different by adolescent' sex and age variable. Fifth, gender-role identity had important effects on clothing behaviors; and rogynous type had more clothing interest, ostentation and comfort than any other gender-role identity type. Sixth, gender-role identity had important effects on favorite clothing images; androgynous type pursued more various clothing images than any other gender-role identity type.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the clothing buying behaviorial pattern and the differences of clothing buying behaviors by the demographic variables. For the measurement of clothing buying behavior, the researcher developed a questionnaire. This questionnaire was adjusted by preliminary test. Data were collected from 494 women dwelling in Seoul, Busan, Daegu. For statistical analysis, frequency, percentage, average, standard deviation, paired t-test, $X^2-test$, one way analysis of variance, Duncan's multiple range test were used. The results were as follows: 1. The $57\%$ of the subject group planned their clothing purchase in advance, ana their friends affected clothing buying behaviors more than other fashion information sources. The store in which the subject group purchased clothing most frequently was a department store. In clothing selection, hygienic factor and aesthetic factor were shown as important factors. 2, There were significant differences in clothing buying behaviors according to demographic variables.
