아동건강통제위 척도에 대한 신뢰도 및 타당도 조사 (Psychometrics of Children′s Health Locus of Control Scale for Korean Children)

  • The purpose of the study was to test the reliability and validity of the Korean version of Children's Health Locus of Control Scale (CHLC), an instrument designed to measure health locus of control in children aged 7 to 12. The scale was administered to 467 children in grades 4 to 6, enrolled in 2 elementary schools located in city. The mean age of the subject was 10.03 (SD=1.33). The findings were as follows: 1. Cronbach alpha coefficient for internal consistency was .69 for the total, and .67, .65, and .56 on the respective subscales. 2. Construct validity was supported through factorial isolation of three theory consistent subscales : internal, chance, and powerful others. Two items did not fit well with the originally developed subscale. The total percent of varience explained by 3 factors was 34.5%. The result of the factor analysis according to Kaiser's criterion revealed that the scale was consisted of 5 factors. But, The items of the subscales were rather inconsistent with the dimensions of the locus of control concept. 3. There were significant differences according to parent's educational level and occupation, and birth order on the scores of the CHLC. There were no significant differences according to grade level and sex. 4. The score of the CHLC was significantly correlated with the self concept of the children(r=.14, p<.001). The result indicated that the Korean version of Children's Health Locus of Control Scale was valid and reliable in measuring health locus of control concept in children, even though luther research is required to reconfirm and increase the reliability of the instrument. CHLC could be used for study explaining the health related behavior of the children and research project related to health education program.

아동의 자아개념 발달과 부·모·교사의 자아개념 추론에 관한 연구 (Development of Children's Self-Concepts and Inferences by Their Fathers, Mothers and Teachers)

  • The purpose of this stud was to examine age and gender differences on children's self-concept and agreement between children's self-concepts and inferences by their fathers, mothers and teachers. The subjects for this study were 342 children from kindergarten (n=149) and second grade (n=193), and theirs fathers, mothers and teachers. The results of this study indicated that there was a significant difference among self-concepts by age, but no significant difference by sex. Also, there was no agreement between kindergarteners' self-concepts and inferences by their fathers, mothers and teachers. For second graders, however, noticeable agreement was found, especially between mothers and children.

초등학생의 부모·교사·또래 애착 유형별 자아개념 및 학교생활적응 (Elementary School Children's Self-Concept and School Life Adjustment according to Attachment Types of Parents, Teachers and Peers)

  • The purpose of this research is to explore the self-concept and school life adjustment based on group classification of attachment types with parents, teachers and peer groups among 6th grade students at elementary schools. The findings suggest that attachment is highest with one's mothers, followed by peer groups, fathers and teachers. This is in accordance with the overall tendencies of children to be attached to their parents, teachers, peer groups, according to their self-concept and school life adjustment. In addition, the tendency of attachment with parents, teachers, and peer groups according to gender is not meaningful except for peer-group affection between boys and girls. Furthermore, an integrated attachment type is ranked highest, followed by parents attachment type, peer attachment type, and unstable attachment type, in order based on cluster analysis. Finally, each attachment group among students showed meaningful differences in socio-demographic variables, self-concept, and school life adjustment.

학령기 아동의 애착안정성, 사회불안 및 우울의 관계: 자기유능감의 매개 효과 (Relationship of Attachment Security, to Social Anxiety, and Depression in School-aged Children: The Mediating Effect of Self Competency)

  • Purpose: This descriptive correlational study was designed to examine the relationship of attachment security to social anxiety and depression. In addition, the mediating effect of self competency in relation to attachment security and the other variables was investigated. Methods: Data were collected from 194 students in grade 5 or 6, and descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient, and hierachical multiple regression were used with SPSS/PC 12.0 program to analyze the data. The instruments used were Kerns, Klepac and Cole's Security Scale, La Greca & Stones' Revised Social Anxiety Scales for children (SASC-R), Cho and Lee's Korean form of Kovacs' children's Depression Inventory (CDI) and Harter' Self-perception Profile for Children. Results: There were significantly negative effects between attachment security and the variables, social anxiety and depression. Also, self competency was negatively correlated with social anxiety and depression. Self competency had a significant mediating effect on the relation of social anxiety and depression to attachment security. Conclusion: For the effective management and prevention of social anxiety and depression in school-aged children, programs including strategies to increase self competency should be developed. These programs can increase self competency which has a mediator role between attachment security and the other variables (social anxiety and depression).

아동의 다중지능과 학습의 정의적 요인의 관계 (Relationships Between Multiple Intelligences and Affective Factors in Children's Learning)

  • This study examined the relationships between multiple intelligences as cognitive factors and affective factors of learning motivation and academic self-concept. The data were collected from 276 4th grade elementary school students and analyzed by correlation, multi-variate analysis, and step-wise multiple regression. Results were that (1) multiple intelligences, learning motivation, and academic self-concept had statistically significant correlations among themselves. Multi-variate analysis showed that intra-personal intelligence explained 58.6% of the linear combination of learning motivation and academic self-concept. (2) Intra-personal intelligence explained 29% to 58% of learning motivation and its sub-factors of achievement motivation, internal locus of control, self-efficacy, and self-regulation. (3) Intra-personal intelligence, logical-mathematical intelligence, musical intelligence, and inter-personal intelligence were explanatory variables for academic self-concept and its sub-factors.

만성적인 신체 질환 및 장애를 지닌 아동의 심리적 특성 : 자기개념 및 스트레스에 대한 대처 양상 비교 (PSYCHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS IN CHILDREN WITH CHRONIC PHYSICAL ILLNESS AND HANDICAPPED:SELF-CONCEPT AND STRESS COPING STRATEGY)

  • 목 적:만성 신체 질환 아동의 우울, 자기 개념 및 스트레스에 대한 지각과 대처 양상에 대해 알아보고자 하였다. 방 법:연구 대상자는 서울대학교 병원 어린이 병원에 입원해 있거나 외래에 다니는 환아 13명과 정상아동 13명으로 구성되었다. 만성 질환 아동군은 Schiffer 등(1963)이 만성 환자군으로 정의한 조작적 정의에 근거하여 최소한 3개월 이상 질환을 앓고 있거나 앓았던 적이 있으며, 현재도 그 질환으로 인해 지속적인 치료를 받고 있는 정형외과, 소아과 아동을 대상으로 하였다. 정상 아동군은 그러한 병력이 없는 아동 13명을 대상으로 하였다. 검사 도구는 피어스-해리스 자기 개념 척도, 소아 우울 척도, 투사적 검사(나의 기분을 색으로 표현하기, 다른 사람으로 인한 나의 기분을 색으로 표현하기, 비속의 아이)를 실시하였다. 결 과:만성 질환 아동군과 정상 아동군을 비교한 결과, 만성 질환 아동군이 소아 우울 척도에서 유의미하게 높은 점수를 보였으며, 자기 개념 척도에서는 보다 유의미하게 낮은 점수를 보였다. 또한 자기 개념 척도의 하위 항목인'인기도' 및 '학습 상태'에서 유의미하게 점수가 낮았다. 투사 과제의 경우,'색으로 표현하기' 과제에서는 집단간의 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았으나, 스트레스에 대한 지각 및 대처를 평가하는 '비속의 아이' 과제에서는 하위 항목(비의 양, 기간, 도구, 효율성) 모두에서 집단간의 차이를 보였다. 비속의 아이 과제와 우울 점수, 자기 개념 점수와의 상관 계수를 구한 결과, '비가 오는 기간' 항목이 우울 점수와는 정적 상관을, 자기 개념 점수와는 높은 부적 상관을 보였다. 결 론:만성 질환 아동군이 정상 아동군 보다 더 우울하며, 자기 개념이 더 부정적이었다. 또한, 이들이 지각하는 스트레스는 상당히 지속적이고 장기적이며, 이에 대해 대처할 수 있는 스스로의 능력이나 전략을 사용하는 데 있어서는 매우 무기력한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 만성적인 신체 질환이 아동의 정신 건강 및 심리적 적응에 있어서 위험 요인이 될 수 있음을 시사해 준다.

전통놀이 프로그램이 유아의 기초체력 및 신체적 자아개념에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Traditional Play Program on physical Fitness and physical Self-Concept of Children)

  • 본 연구는 5세 유아 40명을 실험집단과 통제집단으로 나누어 주2회 10주간 전통놀이 프로그램을 실시한 이후 유아의 기초체력 향상과 신체적 자아개념에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 전통놀이 프로그램이 유아의 기초체력 변화에 있어서 하위 요인 중 근력, 민첩성, 순발력, 유연성 등이 통제집단에 비해 실험집단에서 높게 나타났으며, 두 집단 간에는 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 전통놀이 프로그램이 유아의 신체적 자아개념 변화에 있어서 하위 요인 중 외모, 운동 유능감, 체력 등이 통제 집단에 비해 실험집단에서 높게 나타났으며, 두 집단 간 에는 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있었다. 건강 요인에 있어서는 통제집단에 비해 실험집단에서 높게 나타났지만 통계적으로는 두 집단 간에는 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 이러한 결과들을 통해 전통놀이 프로그램이 유아의 기초체력과 신체적 자아개념에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

중년 여성의 자아개념과 우울과의 관계 (Relationship between Self concept and Depression of Middle-Aged Women)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between self concept and depression of middle-aged women. The Subjects were 102 middle-aged women whose age range were 40-59 years old living in urban area. The instruments used in this study were self concept scale developed by Rosenberg and the depression scale developed by Zung. Data were collected done from July 1 to July 31, 2001 by a structured questionnaire. The Data were analyzed by the SPSS/PC+ program using t-test, ANOV A and Pearson Correlation Coefficient. The results of the study were as followed : 1. Mean score of self concept was 2.35. 2. Mean score of depression scale was 2.43 3. The relationship between self concept and depression was statistically negative correlation(r=-0.3769, P〈0.001). 4. There were statistically significant differences in the score of middle-aged women's self concept to the age(F=3.41, P〈0.05), education(F=2.97, P〈0.05), Occupation(t=1.84, P〈0.05). 5. General characteristics variables were significantly related to the level of depression were the age(F=3.12, P〈0.05), numbers of children(t=3.59,P〈0.05). Obstetrical characteristics variables were significantly related to the level of depression were age of menarche(F=4.03, P〈0.05), times of abortion(t=10.09, P〈0.001). In conclusion, this study revealed that self esteem was an important factor related to depression. I suggest that to decrease depression, it should be encouraged self esteem.

Effects of Self-Concept Levels and Perceived Academic Achievements of Turkish Students on Smoking Perceptions

  • Background: The objective of this study was to examine the effect of self-concept levels and perceived academic achievements of sixth, seventh and eighth grade primary school students upon their perceptions about smoking. Method: The data were collected with the Socio-Demographic Data Collection Form, Pier-Herris Self-Concept scale and Children's Decision Balance Scale. The study sample consisted of 374 students receiving education in the sixth, seventh and eighth grades of three primary schools, which were selected among primary schools of Izmir Provincial Directorate for National Education representing three socio-economic groups with a simple random sampling method. The data were collected in December 2012-January 2013. Percentages and the t test were used in the evaluation of the data. Results: While students with a positive self-concept had score averages of $7.12{\pm}2.18$ regarding the lower dimension of smoking pros and $29.0{\pm}2.47$ regarding the lower dimension of smoking cons, their counterparts with a negative self-concept had score averages of $8.61{\pm}3.76$ (p=0.000) and $28.1{\pm}3.49$ (p=0.004), respectively. According to self-perception, there was statistical difference between perceptions of students regarding smoking (p<0.01). While students perceiving themselves successful had score averages of $7.81{\pm}3.13$ and $28.5{\pm}3.19$ regarding the lower dimension of smoking benefit and harm, students perceiving themselves unsuccessful had score averages of $8.27{\pm}3.39$ (p=0.333) and $29.01{\pm}2.05$ (p=0.235), with no difference determined. Conclusion: Students with a positive self-perception had a low perception of smoking pros and a high perception of smoking cons. Perception of academic achievement did not affect the pros and cons perceptions of children regarding smoking.

자기성장 프로그램이 초등학생의 자아개념과 또래관계에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of Self-Growth Program on the Self-Concept and Peer-Relationship of Elementary School Student)

  • The Purpose of this study is that self-growth program searches effect self-concept and peer-relationship with elementary school student, and advance following assumption to achieve this purpose and achieved study. First, self-concept point of experiment group students who execute self-growth program will be improved is meaning than self-concept point of control group students. Second, peer-relationship point of experiment group students who execute self-growth program will be improved is meaning than peer-relationship point of control group students. Third, effect that self-growth program gets to self-concept may be meaning difference according to sex. Fourth, difference that impact that self-growth program gets in peer- relationship is meaning according to sex may join. Chose fifth-year student 2 class 68 people (experiment group n=34, control group n=34) in I primary school locating to Jeonrabuk-do Iksan-si to verify above construction for study target. Disposal about experiment group executed over 10th for 60-80 minute 2 times in a week because investigator uses reconstructing self-growth program with virtue research paper such as learning program for own growth of Lee-Hyeong-Deuk (1998). In order to verify the effect after experiment, 1 collected materials for estimation by providing the subject children with questionaires about self-concept and peer-relationship before and after the experiment, and then analyzed the average differences in number of marks between the experiment group and the control group before and after the experiment through and by using One-Way ANOVA, and SPSS 11.0 program. The following is the result what I obtained from the above study. First, there was significant difference is between average difference before and after of experiment group and control group which execute self-growth program in self-concept elevation ($F_{(1,66)} =28.734$, p <.001). From the sub-variable, there was significant difference in academic self ($F_{(1,66)}=6.423$, p<.05), Social Self ($F_{(1,66)}=48.331$, p<.001), Physical Self ($F_{(1,66)}=11.074$, p <.01), sentimental self ($F_{(1,66)}=9.402$, p <.01) Second, there was significant difference is average difference before and after of experiment group and control group which execute self-growth program in peer-relationship promotion ($F_{(1,66)}=24.109$, p <.001). From the sub-variable there W3S Significant difference in trust ($F_{(1,66)}=14.507$, p<.001), respect ($F_{(1,66)}=15.271$, p <.001). Third, there was expose that significant difference does not exist in average self-concept before and after by sex of experiment group which executes self-growth program, and was not shown significant difference in sub-vairable. Fourth, there was expose that significant difference of whole peer- relationship and in respect of sub-variable in average peer-relationship before-after by sex of experiment group which execute self-growth program, but significant difference did not appear in trust. Could get conclusion that self-growth program is effect in elementary school student self-concept elevation and peer-relationship promotion according to these study finding, and confirmed possibility that self-growth program may contribute to change emotional special quality of children positively in education spot.
