Porous polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) thin films are fabricated by spin-coating using a dispersion solution containing PTFE powders, and their crystalline properties are investigated after thermal annealing at various temperatures ranging from 300 to $500^{\circ}C$. Before thermal annealing, the film is densely packed and consists of many granular particles 200-300 nm in diameter. However, after thermal annealing, the film contains many voids and fibrous grains on the surface. In addition, the film thickness decreases after thermal annealing owing to evaporation of the surfactant, binder, and solvent composing the PTFE dispersion solution. The film thickness is systematically controlled from 2 to $6.5{\mu}m$ by decreasing the spin speed from 1,500 to 500 rpm. A triboelectric nanogenerator is fabricated by spin-coating PTFE thin films onto polished Cu foils, where they act as an active layer to convert mechanical energy to electrical energy. A triboelectric nanogenerator consisting of a PTFE layer and Al metal foil pair shows typical output characteristics, exhibiting positive and negative peaks during applied strain and relief cycles due to charging and discharging of electrical charge carriers. Further, the voltage and current outputs increase with increasing strain cycle owing to accumulation of electrical charge carriers during charge-discharge.
The influence of photoexcited nonequilibrium carriers on domain switching and photovoltaic current was investigated in two kinds of poled La-modified PbTiO$_3$ferroelectric ceramics, (Pb$_{0.85}$La$_{0.15}$)TiO$_3$and (Pb$_{0.76}$La$_{0.24}$)TiO$_3$, under illumination in the absence of external electric field. Both photovoltaic current and cumulative AE event counts increased with illumination time. The observed nonsteady-state photovoltaic current could be explained on the basis of the cycles of a series of physical events consisting the establishment of space charge field by photoexcited carriers trapped at the grain boundaries, the photoinduced domain switching, and the increase in the remanent polarization. An analysis of energy distribution of the observed AE signals also revealed that the space charge field in (Pb$_{0.85}$La$_{0.15}$)TiO$_3$allowed both 18$0^{\circ}C$ and 90$^{\circ}$domains to be switched during illumination.
Specific diseases like cancer and acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) occur at various organs including lymphatics and spread through lymphatic system. Thus, if therapeutic agents for such diseases are more distributed or targeted to lymphatic system, we can obtain several advantages like reduction of systemic side effect and increase of efficacy. For these reasons, much interest has been focused on the nature of lymphatics and a lot of studies for lymphatic delivery of drugs have been carried out. Because lymphatics consist of single layer endothelium and have high permeability compared with blood capillaries, especially, the studies using nano-sized carriers have been performed. Polymeric nano-particle, liposome, and lipid-based vehicle have been adopted for lymphatic delivery as carriers. According to the administration route and the kind of carrier, the extent of lymphatic delivery efficiency of nano-sized carriers has been changed and influenced by several factors such as size, charge, hydrophobicity and surface feature of carrier. In this review, we summarized the key factors which affect lymphatic uptake and the major features of carriers for achieving the lymphatic delivery. Lymphatic delivery of drug using nano-sized carriers has many fold improved ability of lymphatic delivery compared with that of conventional dosage forms, but it has not shown whole lymph selectivity yet. Even though nano-sized carriers still have the potential and worth to study as lymphatic drug delivery technology as before, full understanding of delivery mechanism and influencing factors, and setting of pharmacokinetic model are required for more ideal lymphatic delivery of drug.
Nanowire-based field-effect transistors (FETs) decorated with nanoparticles have been greatly paid attention as nonvolatile memory devices of next generation due to their excellent transportation ability of charge carriers in the channel and outstanding capability of charge trapping in the floating gate. In this work, top-gate single ZnO nanowire-based FETs with and without Au nanoparticles were fabricated and their memory effects were characterized. Using thermal evaporation and rapid thermal annealing processes, Au nanoparticles were formed on an $Al_2O_3$ layer which was semi cylindrically coated on a single ZnO nanowire. The family of $I_{DS}-V_{GS}$ curves for the double sweep of the gate voltage at $V_{DS}$ = 1 V was obtained. The device decorated with nanoparticles shows giant hysterisis loops with ${\Delta}V_{th}$ = 2 V, indicating a significant charge storage effect. Note that the hysterisis loops are clockwise which result from the tunneling of the charge carriers from the nanowire into the nanoparticles. On the other hand, the device without nanoparticles shows a negligible countclockwise hysterisis loop which reveals that the influence of oxide trap charges or mobile ions is negligible. Therefore, the charge storage effect mainly comes from the nanoparticles decorated on the nanowire, which obviously demonstrates that the top-gate single ZnO nanowire-based FETs decorated with Au nanoparticles are the good candidate for the application in the nonvolatile memory devices of next generation.
Charge transport phenomena of polyaniline-DBSA/High Impact Polystyrene (PAM-DBSA/HIPS) blends have been studied through an examination of electrical conduction. HIPS used host polymer in the blends and PANI-DBSA obey a space charge limited conduction mechanism and a ohmic conduction mechanism respectively. However, PANI-DBSA/HIPS blends do not obey any classical conduction mechanism. Analysis of conduction mechanism revealed that the charging current of PANI-DBSA/HIPS blends increased with the increase of PANI-DBSA content. This result migrlt be explained by the reduction in the distance between PANI-DBSA particles enabling the charge carriers to migrate from a chain to a neighboring chain via hopping or micro tunneling. It was also found that the charging current of PANI-DBSA/HIPS blends decreased as the temperature was elevated, which is of typical phenomena in metals. It is speculated that the charge transport in PANI-DBSA particle was somewhat constrained due to strong phonon scattering.
As the deregulation and the introduction of competition, the methodology of counting access charge for interconnection among carriers is becoming more important. The network costing is the basis for deciding the access charge, but that can be varied by the models and criteria used in the network costing. This study attempts to analyze the network costing methodologies and criteria and then will suggest a few policy directions for reasonable network costing.

In recent years, semiconductor spintronics has been rapidly developing due to potential device applications, in which the spin of charge carriers (electrons or holes) provides novel functionalities to carry signals and process information. Diluted magnetic semiconductors (DMSs) are well known to exhibit intriguing properties such as carrier-mediated ferromagnetism and spin-dependent transport resulting from the coupling between the charge transport states and the magnetic moments (spin) [1-3]. Geminate electron-hole recombination in organic solids in the presence of a donor-acceptor heterojunction is studied by computer simulations. We analyze how the charge-pair separation probability in such systems is affected by energetic disorder of the media, anisotropy of charge-carrier mobilities, and other factors. We show that in energetically disordered systems the effect of heterojunction on the charge-pair separation probability is stronger than that in idealized systems without disorder. We also show that a mismatch between electron and hole mobilities reduces the separation probability, although in energetically disordered systems this effect is weaker compared to the case of no energetic disorder. We demonstrate that the most important factor that determines the charge-pair separation probability is the ratio of the sum of electron and hole mobilities to the rate constant of recombination reaction. We also consider systems with mobility anisotropy and calculate the electric field dependence of the charge-pair separation probability for all possible orientations of high-mobility axes in the donor and acceptor phases. We theoretically show that it is possible to increase the charge-pair separation probability by controlling the mobility anisotropy in heterojunction systems and in consequence to achieve higher efficiencies of organic photovoltaic devices.
Thermoelectric power, dc conductivity, and the dielectric relaxation properties of $La_2NiO_{4.03}$ are reported in the temperature range of 77 K - 300 K and in a frequency range of 20 Hz - 1 MHz. Thermoelectric power was positive below 300K. The measured thermoelectric power of $La_2NiO_{4.03}$ decreased linearly with temperature. The dc conductivity showed a temperature variation consistent with the variable range hopping mechanism at low temperatures and the adiabatic polaron hopping mechanism at high temperatures. The low temperature dc conductivity mechanism in $La_2NiO_{4.03}$ was analyzed using Mott's approach. The temperature dependence of thermoelectric power and dc conductivity suggests that the charge carriers responsible for conduction are strongly localized. The relaxation mechanism has been discussed in the frame of the electric modulus and loss spectra. The scaling behavior of the modulus and loss tangent suggests that the relaxation describes the same mechanism at various temperatures. The logarithmic angular frequency dependence of the loss peak is found to obey the Arrhenius law with activation energy of ~ 0.106eV. At low temperature, variable range hopping and large dielectric relaxation behavior for $La_2NiO_{4.03}$ are consistent with the polaronic nature of the charge carriers.
The development of advanced materials to improve the efficiency of photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting paves the way for widespread renewable energy technologies. Efficient photoanodes with strong absorbance in visible light increases the effectiveness of solar energy conversion systems. MoS2 in a two-dimensional semiconductor that has excellent absorption performance in visible light and high catalytic activity, showing considerable potential as an agent of PEC water splitting. In this study, we successfully modulated the MoS2 morphology on indium tin oxide substrate by using the metalorganic chemical vapor deposition method, and applied the PEC application. The PEC photocurrent of the vertically grown MoS2 nanosheet structure significantly increased relative to that of MoS2 nanoparticles because of the efficient transfer of charge carriers and high-density active sites. The enhanced photocurrent was attributed to the efficient charge separation and improved light absorption of the MoS2 nanosheet structure. Meanwhile, the photocurrent property of thick nanosheets decreased because of the limit imposed by the diffusion lengths of carriers. This study proposes a valuable photoelectrode design with suitable nanosheet morphology for efficient PEC water splitting.
