According to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), many countries around the world have been concerned with reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions. Reducing the level of building energy consumption is particularly important in bringing GHG down. Because of this, many countries including the US and the EU are enforcing energy-related policies. However, these policies are focused on management of single types of buildings such as public buildings and office buildings, instead of management on a national level. Thus, although various policies have been enforced in many countries, $CO_2$ management on a national level is still not an area of focus. Therefore, this study proposed a community-based $CO_2$ management process that allows government-led GHG management. The minimum unit of the community in this study is a plot, and the process consists of three steps. First, the current condition of the GHG emission was identified by plot. Second, based on the identified results, the GHG emission reduction target was distributed per plot by reflecting the weighted value according to (i) the target $CO_2$ reduction in the buildings in the standard year, (ii) region, and (iii) building usage and size. Finally, to achieve the allocated target reduction, building energy management was executed according to the properties of the building located on each plot. It can be expected that the proposed community-based $CO_2$ management process will enable government-level GHG management, through which environment-friendly building construction can be promoted.

The amount of domestic carbon dioxide emissions is more than 600 million tons/year. The emitted $CO_2$ should be captured and stored, however, suitable storage sites have not been found yet. A lot of researches on the conversion of captured carbon dioxide to useful carbon source have been conducted. The purpose of this study is to convert stable carbon dioxide to useful resources using less energy. For this purpose reducing gas and metallic oxide (activator) are required. Hydrogen was used as reducing gas and cobalt ferrite was used as activator. Considering that activator has different physical properties depending on synthesis methods, activator was prepared by hydrothermal synthesis and solid method. Decomposition characteristics of carbon dioxide were investigated using synthesized powders. Temperature programmed reduction/oxidation (TPR/TPO) and thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA) device were used to observe the decomposition characteristics of carbon dioxide. Activator prepared by solid method with 5 and 10 wt% CoO content showed an excellent performance. In TGA experiments with samples prepared by the solid method, reduction by hydrogen was 29.0 wt% and oxidation by $CO_2$ was highest in 27.5 wt%. 95% of adsorbed $CO_2$ was decomposed with excellent oxidation-reduction behaviors.
Bioelectrochemical systems (BESs) have been suggested as a new technology for wastewater treatment while accomplishing energy and chemical generation. This study describes the performance of BESs based on mixed culture that are capable of reducing carbon dioxide to acetate. The cathode potential was a critical factor that affected the performance of the BESs. The rate of acetate production increased as the electrode potential became more negative, from 0.38 mM $d^{-1}$ (-900 mV vs. Ag/AgCl) to 2.35 mM $d^{-1}$ (-1,100 mV), while the electron recovery efficiency of carbon dioxide reduction to acetate increased from 53.6% to 89.5%. The microbial population was dominated by relatives of Acetobacterium woodii when a methanogenic inhibitor was added to the BESs initially.

In this study, we examined the properties of the concrete for the adsorption of carbon dioxide by adding in photosynthetic bacteria. As for the experimental plan, we measured slump, carbon dioxide concentration and compressive strength. The findings revealed the non-plastic cement added with photosynthetic bacteria had the greatest flexibility and showed carbon dioxide absorption and condensation delay due to the sugar constituents of photosynthetic bacteria. Giver the progress in the studies on the strength development, it is estimated to be used as CO2 reduction concrete.

Nowadays, climatic environment change has become a major issue in the world. This causes major emissions of carbon dioxide industries steel industry, thermal power industry, cement industry is essential in the reduction of carbon dioxide, which is based on total carbon dioxide emissions account for most of the construction industry in an effort to minimize the environmental load is needed. accordingly, through case studies, It can be induce the selection to minimize environmental load by comparing the output of quantitative energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions per constructional methods. As a result of this study, RC Structure was less environmental load than SC structure.

Concrete bricks and hollow concrete block products manufactured using ordinary portland cement react with salt and carbon dioxide absorbed from the soil and atmosphere in the use environment, causing contamination such as efflorescence. This is due to the reaction between calcium hydroxide, a cement hydration product, and carbon dioxide, producing and eluting calcium carbonate. This study was a preliminary study to compare and evaluate the reduction of efflorescence in concrete bricks and hollow concrete block products manufactured using carbon dioxide reaction hardening cement. The purpose was to evaluate the efflorescence occurrence in products using ordinary Portland cement.

$Zn_{x}Fe_{3-x}O_{4}(0.00.<X<0.08)$ was synthesized by air oxidation method for the decomposition of carbon dioxide. We investigated the characteristics of catalyst, the form of methane by gas chromatograph after decomposition of carbon dioxide and kinetic parameter. $Zn_{x}Fe_{3-x}O_{4}(0.00.<X<0.08)$ was spinel type structure. The surface areas of catalysts($Zn_{x{Fe_{3-x}O_{4}(0.00.<X<0.08)$) were $15{\sim}27$$m^{2}/g$. The shape of $Zn_{0.003}Fe_{2.997}O_{4}$ was sphere. The optimum temperature for the decomposition of carbon dioxide into carbon was $350^{\circ}C$. $Zn_{0.003}Fe_{2.997}O_{4}$ showed the 85% decomposition rate of carbon dioxide and the degree of reduction by hydrogen(${\delta}$) of $Zn_{0.003}Fe_{2.997}O_{4}$ was 0.32. At $350^{\circ}C$, the reaction rate constant and activation energy of $Zn_{0.003}Fe_{2.997}O_{3.68}$ for the decomposition of carbon dioxide into carbon were 3.10 $psi^{1-{\alpha}}/min$ and 0.98 kcal/mole respectively. After the carbon dioxide was decomposed, the carbon which was absorbed on the catalyst surface was reacted with hydrogen and it became methane.

Carbon dioxide emission trading market would play very important role in the global effort to cope with climate change. In KOREA, the energy consumption and geen house gas emission of various industry would be controlled by the low carbon-green growth law which was established at 2009. The paper industry as one of major industries in terms of energy consumption has been greatly required to prepare action plan for addressing this regulation and reduction of carbon dioxide emission. In this study, the current states of carbon dioxide emission trading market were analyzed in terms of practical responses of the paper industry. And the various action plans including CDM projects for paper industry were suggested.
The reduction of carbon dioxide emissions becomes a global issue, the main source of carbon dioxide emissions in the Asian region is the energy conversion sector, especially coal-fired power plants. We are working to develop technologies that will at least limit the increase in carbon dioxide emissions from the thermal power plants as one way to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Our research aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by removing iron oxide scale from the feedwater system of thermal power plants using a superconducting high-gradient magnetic separation (HGMS) system, thereby reducing the loss of power generation efficiency. In this paper, the background of thermal power plants in Asia is outlined, followed by a case study of the introduction of a chemical cleaning line at an actual thermal power plant in Japan, and the possibility of introducing it into the thermal power plants in China based on the results.
