  • In order to accomplish a successful management consulting project, the client's receptivity to consulting as well as the management consultant's competency is very important. Even if a consultant with a high level of competence is put into a project, if the consulting receptivity of the company is low, a successful project can not be accomplished. On the other hand, even if consulting receptivity of the company is high, management consulting performance can not be expected if management consultant competency is lacking. This study analyzes the affect of consultant competency on management performance of client firms and the mediating effect of consulting receptivity of client company in terms of management performance. Management consultant competency is measured by task-related competency, managerial competency and common competency, and management performance is measured by financial performance and non-financial performance. The parameters are measured by consulting receptivity and management consulting performance. According to the results of the study, the management consultant's competency has a positive (+) influence on both of consulting receptivity and management consulting performance. Consulting receptivity has a positive (+) influence on both of management consulting performance and non-financial performance. Management consulting performance has a positive (+) influence on both of financial performance and non-financial performance. • Although management consulting activities have obtained a considerable growth in terms of economic significance in recent years, these results have not been duly followed by a greater number of conceptual and empirical research in this area. In order to fight the lack of studies on the actual work of management consultants, this article aims at answer some questions that remain open. Is management consulting an intensive and specialized knowledge activity? Are there knowledge and learning key success factors in this area? Are consultants the real experts and the true practitioners of strategy as practice? The results of the empirical analysis in the form of semi-structured interviews and questionnaires given to management consultants and SME managers in Portugal shows that management consulting is founded on a knowledge-intensive base, although consultants cannot be called strategy practitioners as many authors call them. This is illustrated by the Portuguese model of determinants that constitute the management consulting industry presented in this article, which means this proposition is a new direction in strategic thinking in what the field's research strategy-as-practice concerns.

  • The computer system validation consulting industry is growing as domestic GMP companies' overseas exports or advancements increase, and computer system validation has been mandatory in Korea since the 2010s, but domestic CSV consulting companies are small in size and have a short history, revealing many shortcomings in terms of service quality and customer satisfaction when conducting consulting. Research related to consulting has been mainly focused on management consulting and IT consulting, and research related to computer system validation is very insufficient. This study confirmed the effect of consultant competency and service quality on consulting performance, customer satisfaction, and intention to renew contract when performing computer system validation through empirical research on food, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and medical device companies, which are representative companies in the GMP industry. As a result, it was confirmed that consultant competency and service quality had a significant effect on consulting performance, customer satisfaction, and intention to renew contract. In addition, it was confirmed that the reputation and expertise of consulting companies had a moderating effect on the relationship between consultant competency and consulting performance.
