정신건강복지센터 간호사의 자살예방 지식 및 기술, 자살에 대한 태도와 자살예방업무 소진의 관계: 혼합연구방법의 적용 (Relationships among Knowledge and Skills about Suicide Prevention, Attitudes toward Suicide, and Burnout of Suicide Prevention Work of Nurses at Mental Health Welfare Centers: A Mixed Methods Study)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify relationships among knowledge and skills about suicide prevention, attitudes toward suicide, and burnout of suicide prevention work of nurses at mental health welfare centers. Methods: An explanatory sequential mixed-method research was conducted. For the quantitative study, the subjects (nurses) were 133 nurses executing suicide prevention work. The data were analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 program. For the qualitative research, 13 nurses with high burnout scores were interviewed. The data were analyzed using theme analysis method. Results: Quantitative results showed the average burnout of suicide prevention work was 54.62 ± 12.51. The burnout of suicide prevention work had significant correlations with attitudes toward suicide (r = .30, p < .001) and suicide prevention skills (r = - .18, p = .037). Qualitative results showed six themes related to burnout of suicide prevention work. They were 'feeling a lack of confidence in one's suicide counselling skills', 'feeling of the limits of one's ability to cope with a suicide crisis', 'feeling regret for not being able to help the clients', 'being over-empathetic to the clients', 'Not being able to understand the clients because the subjects (nurses) opposes committing suicide', and 'thinking that the suicidal thoughts of suicide attempters do not improve'. Conclusion: To reduce burnout of nurses' suicide prevention work at mental health welfare centers, there is a need to develop an educational program considering nurses' attitudes toward suicide and one to enhance their confidence in suicide prevention skills.

자살예방상담원의 지각된 스트레스와 사회적 지지가 심리적 소진에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Social Support on the Relationships between Perceived Stress and Psychological Burnout of Suicide Prevention Counselor)

  • 본 연구는 자살예방상담원의 지각된 스트레스가 심리적 소진에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 알아보고자 하였고, 한편 지각된 스트레스와 심리적 소진 사이에 사회적 지지가 매개역할을 하는지를 검증하고자 하였다. 연구대상은 전국의 자살예방을 위해서 상담하고 있는 자살예방상담원을 대상으로 설문조사를 하였고 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 지각된 스트레스, 사회적 지지 모두 심리적 소진과 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났고 둘째, 지각된 스트레스와 사회적 지지가 심리적 소진을 통계적으로 유의미하게 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 나타났으며 셋째, 사회적 지지가 지각된 스트레스와 심리적 소진 간의 부분매개효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 연구결과처럼 사회적 지지는 지각된 스트레스와 심리적 소진 간의 완충역할을 하고 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 이는 자살예방상담원들이 업무로 인해 스트레스를 겪고 있음에도 불구하고 사회적 지지를 통해 심리적 소진을 낮출 수 있음을 알 수 있다.

교육에서의 소진에 관한 이론적 고찰 (Theoretical Review on Burnout Symptoms in Education)

  • Burnout research has mostly been performed in human service fields. However, it has recently been expanded to cover diverse settings and even non-occupational samples, such as students. In this study, we defined the construct of academic burnout, which is the burnout experienced by students. Next, we described the concept of academic burnout by introducing measurements for assessing academic burnout. On the basis of the demand-control model (DCM) and effort-reward imbalance model (ERIM), which are the most predominant theoretical burnout models, we described the causal factors and the pathway to experiencing academic burnout symptoms. The ERIM was a more influential model than the DCM when explaining the academic burnout of Korean students. Based on the results of previous longitudinal studies on academic burnout, we recognized emotional exhaustion and academic inefficacy as the initial symptoms of academic burnout. Finally, we discussed the prevention and intervention programs with specific components that should be included in those programs.

소방공무원의 외상사건 경험 및 산림산책이 소진에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Firefighters' Experience of Trauma and Forest Walks on Burnout)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the effects of fire officers' experience of traumatic events and subsequent forest healing on their occupational burnout. The results are as follows: First, the experience of traumatic events, social and psychological healing, and relieving stress by strolling had a significant effect on burnout. The more fire officers are exposed to traumatic events, the more they lose self-control in social and psychological aspects, and the lower the level of stress relieved through strolling, the higher the level of burnout. Thi sresult suggests that the more fire office rsare called out for fire fighting, the more they see their colleagues with severein juries, and the higher the level of mental and physical an xiety, the more they areex hausted. Moreover, for es thealing help store duce the irmental and physi calfatig uecaused by traumatic events, thu spreven ting them from suffering from burn out. Second, the experience of traumatic events, social and psychological healing, and relieving stress by strolling had a significant impact on occupational stress. The more fire officers are exposed to traumatic events, the more they lose self-control in social and psychological aspects, and the lower the level of stress relieved through strolling, the higher the level of occupational stress. This result indicates that to relieve job stress caused by fire fighting, increased forest healing activities, including various programs such as psychotherapy, developing interpersonal relationships and self-control, and creating a positive mind-set, can reducejobstress and help fire officers recover from it. Lastly, job stress had a mediation effect on the effects of the experience of traumatic events and forest healing on burnout. This implies that burnout can be prevented when fire officers gain high emotional stability through social and psychological healing and stress-relief strolling over a traumatic experience, and stronger support from the organization and family can keep them from being emotionally drained, thus contributing to the prevention of burnout.

보육교사 조직 내 소진에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Factors of Child Care Teacher's Burnout)

  • The Purpose of this study was to review the theoretical background of burnout in child care teachers organization. Personal factors, Organizational factors, social factors and the factors affecting burnout I examined. The results of this study were as follows. First, Child care teachers need to be burnout to participate in Prevention programs. Second, child care teacher is required to ensure proper staffing, improved working environment through compliance with statutory working hours. Third, Various institutional arrangements required to control the variables affecting child care teachers. Fourth, Child care teacher's role to prevent excessive strategy is needed.

의과대학 교수의 소진에 대한 이해 (A Review of Burnout in Medical School Professors)

  • The purpose of this study was to promote an enhanced understanding of burnout among medical school professors by reviewing the literature on burnout in domestic and international medical professors, and to seek measures to prevent burnout. To this end, the general concept of burnout and the physical, cognitive, psychological, social, and behavioral symptoms that result from burnout were explained. In addition, the causes and results of high burnout among medical school professors were summarized in terms of demographic characteristics and the duties of educators, researchers, and physicians, and measures to prevent burnout in medical school professors were divided into individual and organizational levels. In order to prevent burnout among medical school professors, sensitive interest in themselves and self-reflection are required at the personal level. At the organizational level, it is necessary to regularly monitor burnout among medical school professors, improve systems, encourage participation in the policy-making process, and develop customized education programs. At the social level, it is necessary to recognize that burnout of medical school professors is a social problem, for which further research is needed. Therefore, in order for medical school professors not to burn out, there must be appropriate interactions among the individuals, organizations, and society, and the consistent attention should be paid to this issue.

아동학대예방센터 상담원의 소진관련 요인에 관한 연구 (Factors Associated with Burnout of Korean Child Protective Service Workers)

  • 아동학대예방센터는 우리나라의 학대받는 아동의 발견, 학대여부 판정에 따라 아동과 가족의 욕구를 사정하고 서비스를 제공하여 아동의 안전하고 바람직한 성장에 중요한 역할을 하는 최일선 기관이다. 개소 4년째를 맞는 아동학대예방센터의 상담원은 시 도당 1개소에 7-8명으로, 24시간 대기태세로 비인간적이고 때로는 범죄적인 처우를 받는 아동을 치료 보호하고 의료기관 행형기관 교육기관 및 사회복지기관과 밀접한 연계를 맺어야 하는 스트레스가 높은 상황에 있다. 아동보호사업에서는 이처럼 다양한 역할을 집중적으로 소화해야 하는 상담원들의 역할이 서비스 효과의 측면에서 매우 중요한데 비해 정작 이들의 직무상황과 소진에 대한 주목은 찾아보기 어렵다. 본 연구에서는 상담원들의 사회인구학적 특성, 직무관련특성, 직업만족도가 아동학대예방센터 상담원들의 소진에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 검토하여 소진예방의 기초 자료로 제시하고자 하였다. 2003년 3월 현재 전국의 상담원들이 조사대상이었으며 최종적으로 90명의 설문지가 분석되었다. 연구결과, 아동학대예방센터 상담원들의 소진의 정도를 보면, 소진의 수준은 정서적 탈진, 개인적 성취감, 비인간화의 세 가지 영역 모두 매우 심각한 상태로 나타났다. 상담원이 미혼인 경우와 일선상담원인 경우, 그리고 나이가 적을수록 소진의 정도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 교육 훈련 경험이 부족하다고 느낄수록, 슈퍼비전이 부족하다고 느끼는 상담원의 경우 소진의 정도가 높게 나타났으며 직업만족도가 낮을수록 소진의 정도가 높았다. 따라서 충분한 교육과 훈련기회의 제공, 적절하고 충분한 슈퍼비전의 확립 및 직업만족도 향상을 위한 기관수준의 노력이 요구된다 하겠다.

소진탄력성이 노인복지관종사자들의 소진에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Workers's Burnout Resilience on Burnout in Community Welfare Centers for the Elderly)

  • 본 연구는 감정노동자로서 노인복지관종사자들의 소진위험성과 소진탄력성이 소진에 미치는 영향을 살펴보는 동시에 소진위험성이 소진으로 이어지는 과정에서 소진탄력성이 보호요인으로 작용하는지를 밝히는 것에 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 부산광역시 노인복지관 13곳에 근무하는 종사자들 중 192명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 조사도구로는 소진의 전제조건이라 할 수 있는 소진위험성, 소진의 보호요인으로 작용하는 소진탄력성, 그리고 전문가의 업무에 부정적 영향을 미치는 소진(감정고갈)을 구조화된 척도로 측정하였다. 대상들의 일반적 특징을 파악하기 위한 빈도분석, 주요 변수들간의 기술통계와 상관관계분석, 독립변수, 종속변수간의 인과관계를 검증하기 위해 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과 다음과 같은 결과를 도출하였다. 1) 소진위험성은 소진에 정(+)의 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 2) 소진위험성은 소진탄력성에 부(-)의 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 3) 소진탄력성은 소진에 부(-)의 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 이에 본 연구는 감정노동자로서 노인복지관종사자들이 소진을 겪게 되는 과정의 예방적인 차원에서 소진탄력성의 유효성을 검증한 것이며 이를 바탕으로 연구의 시사점과 추후 연구과제를 제시하였다.

중환자실 간호사의 업무 스트레스와 강인성 및 소진에 관한 연구 (The Study on Stress, Hardiness, and Professional Burnout of Intensive Care Unit Nurses)

  • Purpose: This study was done to identify the level of stress, hardiness, and professional burnout of intensive care unit (ICU) nurses and to provide basic data for the qualitative improvement of nursing work achievement in the workplace. Method: The data were obtained from 129 ICU nurses through a questionnaire. Results: Stress showed positive correlation with the level of professional burnout and there was negative correlation between hardiness and professional burnout. Nurses in the group with a high level of stress, and a high level of hardiness reported a low level of professional burnout compared to those in the group with a lower level of hardiness (t=-2.60, p= .012). Nurses in the group with a low level of hardiness and a low level of stress showed a lower level of professional burnout than those with a high level of stress (t=3.51, p= .001). Conclusion: The results show that the high level of stress when coupled with a low level of hardiness of ICU nurses results in a high level of professional burnout. For this reason, it is important for nursing administration to support nurses to reduce levels of stress and the resulting burnout in ICU nurses.

임상간호사의 직무스트레스와 스트레스 대처방식이 소진에 미치는 영향 (Occupational Stress and Coping Styles as Factors Affecting the Burnout of Clinical Nurses)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of occupational stress and coping styles on burnout of clinical nurses. Methods: The participants in this study were 397 nurses, working at the hospitals in Seoul, Gangwon, and Gyongbuk provinces. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire from November, 2009 to January, 2010. The SPSS WIN 13.0 version program was used for data analysis. Results: The most significant predictors of burnout were positive reappraisal and work load. Work load, resource inadequacy, role ambiguity, and indifference coping style positively correlated with burnout. Positive reappraisal and problem-focused coping styles negatively correlated with burnout. Conclusion: The study results indicate that it is important to reduce work load, resource inadequacy, and role ambiguity in nurses and to strengthen their positive reappraisal and problem-focused coping styles to prevent burnout. This could be achieved with job redesign, modification of shift work systems, and by offering burnout prevention program.
