Numerical study of a freely falling rigid sphere on water surface (수면 위 자유 낙하 및 충돌하는 강체 구의 수치해석 연구)

  • Numerical studies on the hydrodynamics of a freely falling rigid sphere in bounded and unbounded water domains are presented having investigation on the drag coefficient, normalized velocity, surface pressure and skin friction coefficient as a function of time. Two different conditions of the bounded and unbounded domains have been simulated by setting the blockage ratio. Four cases of bounded domains (B.R. = 1%, 25%, 45%, 55%, 65% and 75%) have been taken, whereas the unbounded domain has been considered with 0.01%. In the case of the bounded domain (higher values of B.R.), a substantial reduction in normalized velocity and increase in the drag coefficient have been found in presence of the bounded domain. Moreover, bounded domains also yield a significant increase in the pressure coefficient when the sphere is partially submerged, but the insignificant effect is found on the skin friction coefficient. In the case of the unbounded domain, a significant reduction in normalized velocity occurs with a decrease in Reynolds number (Re) and also increase in the drag coefficient.

  • Building on the famous domain of Kohn and Nirenberg we give an example of a domain which shares the important features of the Kohn Nirenberg domain, but which can also be shown to be ${\phi}$-bounded As an application, we remark that this example has compact automorphism group.

  • In this paper, the blow-up rate of $L^2$-norm for the semi-linear wave equation with a power nonlinearity is obtained in the bounded domain for any p > 1. We also get the blow-up rate of the derivative under the condition 1 < p < $1+\frac{4}{N-1}$ for $N{\geq}2$ or 1 < p < 5 for N = 1.

Properties of positive real systems in time domain (양실 시스템의 시간영역에서의 특성)

  • This paper provides some properties of positive real systems in time domain. It is well-known that a positive real system and a bounded real system are closely related by bilinear transform in a frequency domain. By using supply rate and storage function, we show that a positive real system can be transformed into a bounded real system, and that a positive real system can be transformed into another positive real system with in a time domain. Also, we show that an ESPR(extended strictly positive real) system can be decomposed into a feedback system of lossless positive real system and another ESPR system. These results may be used to design an output feedback controller for mixed H$H_2$ESPR problem.

  • Let A ⊆ B be an extension of integral domains with characteristic zero. Let H(A, B) and h(A, B) be rings of composite Hurwitz series and composite Hurwitz polynomials, respectively. We simply call H(A, B) and h(A, B) composite Hurwitz rings of A and B. In this paper, we study when H(A, B) and h(A, B) are unique factorization domains (resp., GCD-domains, finite factorization domains, bounded factorization domains).

  • In this note, we are concerned with a class of semi-linear elliptic pdes with exponential nonlinearity in a bounded domain. Here, the nonlinearity is more or less growing exponentially with power p. We consider the problem under two types of Dirichlet boundary condition. We give existence and non-existence of solutions for those problems and some asymptotics.

  • We compute the holomorphic derivative of the harmonic measure associated to a $C^\infty$bounded domain in the plane and show that the exact Bergman kernel function associated to a $C^\infty$ bounded domain in the plane relates the derivatives of the Ahlfors map and the Szego kernel in an explicit way. We find several formulas for the exact Bergman kernel and the Szego kernel and the harmonic measure. Finally we survey some other properties of the holomorphic derivative of the harmonic measure.
