  • A need exists for the accurate identification of time series models having time varying parameters, as is important in the case of real time identification of nonstationary EMG signal. Thls paper describes real time identification and muscle fatigue monitoring method of nonstationary EMG signal. The method is composed of the efficient identifier which estimates the autoregressive parameters of nonstationary EMG signal model, and its real time implementation by using T805 parallel processing computer. The method is verified through experiment with real EMG signals which are obtained from surface electrode. As a result, the proposed method provides a new approach for real time Implementation of muscle fatigue monitoring and the execution time is 0.894ms/sample for 1024Hz EMG signal.

  • An ECG data compression algorithM using max-min slope update is proposed and a real time 3 channel ECG transmission system is implemented using the proposed algorithm. In order to effectively compress ECG data, we compare a threshold value with the max-min slope difference (MMSD) which is updated at each sample values. If this MMSD value is smaller than the threshold value, then the data is compressed. Conversely, when the MMSD value is larger than threshold value, the data is transmitted after storing the value and the length between the data which is beyond previous threshold level. As a result, it can accurately compress both the region of QRS, P, and T wave that has fast-changing and the region of the base line that slope is changing slow. Therefore, it Is possible to enhance the compression rate and the percent roms difference. In addition, because of the simplicity, this algorithm is more suitable for real-time implementation.

  • Using a nonclinical sample of 566 female students, this study examines the frequency and the severity of child sexual abuse in Taegu area. It also analyzes the factors that determine the probability of experiencing both contact and noncontact forms of the abuse. The results show that children from low socio-economic status tend to experience severe types of contact abuse while children from higher socio-economic status ten to experience severe types of contact abuse while children from higher socio-economic status are likely to be exposed to noncontact abuse. The growing place in the childhood also affects the victimization to noncontact and contact abuse differently. The absence of the biological parents significantly contributes to the occurrence of contact abuse, but have no impact on the noncontact abuse. However, the closeness of the family members and frequent communication reduce the rates of both contact and noncontact abuse substantially.

  • Animal excreta is a useful fertilizer, because it has useful nourishments, microelements and three requistes of fertilizer(nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium). But, it has some problems such as generation of bad smell and excess of nitrogen. In this study, a biological tool using microorganisms was investingated. First, 61 species were isolated from soil sample. The enzyme activities of the strains such as protease, cellulase, amylase and lipase were analysed. And from a deodorization test using the isolated strains and finally three strains were selected(NA 2, NA 12, NA 15). The optimal media composition and incubation pH were statistically determined using surface-response method.

  • The use of various shearing apparatuses to study the phase behavior of poly(styrene-b-isoprene) diblock copolymer micelles is described. A DMTA rheometer was modified so that one can apply oscillatory shear and obtain the scattering pattern along the shear gradient direction. A cone and plate shear cell was designed to access scattering along the shear vorticity direction, and both oscillatory and steady shear can be applied. The most popular way to employ steady shear on relatively low viscosity fluids is to use a Couette cell, because a high shear rate can be readily achieved without disturbing the sample by overflow. In this work, oscillatory shear was used to obtain a single crystal-like scattering pattern, and thereby to examine the mechanism of the thermotropic transition between face-centered cubic (fcc) and body-centered cubic (bcc) lattices. By applying the steady shear, the response of the fcc lattices to various shear rates is discussed.

  • Background: Microfluidics is of considerable importance in food and agricultural industries. Microfluidics processes low volumes of fluids in channels with extremely small dimensions of tens of micrometers. It enables the miniaturization of analytical devices and reductions in cost and turnaround times. This allows automation, high-throughput analysis, and processing in food and agricultural applications. Purpose: This review aims to provide information on the applications of microfluidics in the agro-food sector to overcome limitations posed by conventional technologies. Results: Microfluidics contributes to medical diagnosis, biological analysis, drug discovery, chemical synthesis, biotechnology, gene sequencing, and ecology. Recently, the applications of microfluidics in food and agricultural industries have increased. A few examples of these applications include food safety analysis, food processing, and animal production. This study examines the fundamentals of microfluidics including fabrication, control, applications, and future trends of microfluidics in the agro-food sector. Conclusions: Future research efforts should focus on developing a small portable platform with modules for fluid handling, sample preparation, and signal detection electronics.

  • Pulsed ultrasonic Doppler system is a useful diagnostic instrument to measure blood-flow-velocity, velocity profile, and volume-blood-flow. This system is more powerful compare with 2-dimensional B-scan tissue image. A system has been deve- loped and ii being evaluated using TMS 32010 DSP. We use this DSP for the purpose of real-time spectrum analyzer to obtain spectrogram in singlegate pulsed Doppler system and for the serial comb filter to cancel clutter and zero crossing counter to estimate Doppler mean frequency in multigate pulsed Doppler system. The Doppler shift of the backscattered signals is sensed in a phase detector. This Doppler signal corresponds to the mean velocity over a some region in space defined by the ultrasonic beam dimensions, transmitted pulse duration, and transducer ban(iwidth. Multi- gate pulsed Doppler system enable the transcutaneous and simultaneous assessment of the velocities in a number of adjacent sample volumes as a continuous function of time. A multigate pulsed Doppler system processing the information originating from presented.

  • Quantifying the nanoscale force between the atomic force microscopy (AFM) probe of a force-sensing cantilever and the sample is one of the challenges faced by AFM researchers. The normal force calibration is straightforward; however, the lateral force is complicated due to the twisting motion of the cantilever. Force measurement in a liquid environment is often needed for biological applications; however, calibrating the force of the AFM probes for those applications is more difficult owing to the limitations of conventional calibration methods. In this work, an accurate nondestructive lateral force calibration method using multiple pivot loading was proposed for liquid environment. The torque sensitivity at the location of the integrated probe was extrapolated based on accurately measured torque sensitivities across the cantilever width along a few cantilever lengths. The uncertainty of the torque sensitivity at the location of the integrated tip was about 13%, which is significantly smaller than those for other calibration methods in a liquid environment.
