A continuous 3D tube bending machine has been developed for industrial boiler panel production. The machine consists of a main bender, a sub bender, a side bender, tube feeding rollers and control system that includes data management system. Tube position is controlled by a numerical control system. The bending former can be easily replaced according to the shape of bending form. Reduction of working time and improvement of production capacity from the practice have been achieved by bending a long tube in the machine developed.

Bender element is made of connecting two piezoelectric elements which have different polarities from each other, and is a kind of sensors which can be used either way as a source making elastic wave or a receiver. Elastic waves generated by stimulating the bender elements can be decomposed to P-wave and S-wave propagation. Numerical and expeimental studies are conducted, and results show that multiple measurements are recommended to determine wave arrivals from the received signals.

$360^{\circ}$ bending of Ti-6Al-4V large-diameter seamless tube(62.37 mm $OD {\times} 4.40mm$ wall thickness) has been achieved at room temperature without heating. The bending process comprised two steps : the first step is $360^{\circ}$ bending by an uniquely designed rotary bender allowing spring back, which is subsequently eliminated by the second or finishing step which comprised repeated bending processes by powered three roll bender, In odor to prevent collapse of tube during bending, Cerro $Tru^{TM}$(Trade name of a non-ferrous low melting point alloy)has been employed as a filler metal. The resultant ovality(out of roundness) obtained was 1.28%, as compared with 6~8% without applying Cerro $Tru^{TM}$.

Bender elements, composed of thin piezo-ceramics and elastic shims, have been used to measure shear wave velocities of specimens in laboratories. In a preliminary stage of their field applications, an in-house research of optimizing suitable bender elements and geometrical arrangement has been carried out in a barrel of kaolinite-water mixture. Two types of measurement configuration, similar to cross-hole and in-hole seismic testing, has been implemented. A pair of prototype instrumented rods was penetrated into a soft clay layer in the west coast and excellent shear waves were recorded. Development of penetration device(mandrel) and associated instrumented rods are in progress for deeper investigation.
This paper proposes a method of utilizing convolutional neural network to classify the images of Bender Gestalt Test (BGT), which is a tool to understand and analyze a person's characteristic. The proposed network is composed of 29 layers including 18 convolutional layers and 2 fully connected layers, where the network is to be trained with augmented images. To verify the proposed method, 10 fold validation was adopted. In results, the proposed method classified the images into 9 classes with the mean f1 score of 97.05%, which is 13.71%p higher than a previous method. The analysis of the results shows the classification accuracy of the proposed method is stable over all the patterns as the worst f1 score among all the patterns was 92.11%.

In this study, a bender-type piezoelectric energy harvester was fabricated and evaluated to compensate for the disadvantages of high-power generation only in the resonance frequency range of a piezoelectric harvester using a piezoelectric cantilever. The generated power was investigated according to various changes in the vibration environment. Compared with the piezoelectric cantilever module, the bender-type piezoelectric module showed a larger number of peak voltages. The primary peak voltage shifted toward the low frequency when the spring was coupled to the bender-type piezoelectric module. The harvester of the three bender-type modules had a vibration frequency exceeding 1 mW in the 34-45 Hz range and generated 3.112 mW of power at the vibration frequency of 38 Hz. The harvester of the six bender-type modules had a vibration frequency exceeding 1 mW in the 31-45 Hz range and generated 3.081 mW of power at the vibration frequency of 35 Hz.

The bender element method is an experimental technique to determine very small strain ($<10^{-3}\%$), elastic shear modulus of a soil, $G_{max}$ by measuring the velocity of shear wave propagation through a sample. Bender elements have been applied as versatile transducers to measure small strain modulus of wet or dry soils in various laboratory apparatus. In this paper, bender element (BE), resonant column (RC) and torsional shear (TS) tests were performed on Toyoura sand at various testing conditions using the modified Stokoe type RC/TS testing equipment capable of performing BE test. Based on the results, applicabilities of the testing method using bender element were evaluated by comparing the values of $G_{max}$ obtained from RC/TS and BE testing methods. For more dependable evaluation, the loading frequency of each testing method was considered for the results obtained for samples in saturated condition by adapting Biot's theory.

Ground stiffness(shear wave velocity) is one of the key parameters in geotechnical earthquake engineering. An In-situ seismic technique has its own advantages and disadvantages over the others in stiffness measurements. By combining the crosshole and seismic cone techniques and utilizing favourable features of bender elements, a new hybrid probe has been developed in order to enhance data quality and easiness of testing. The basic structure of the probe, called "MudFork", is a fork composed of two blades, on each of which source and receiver bender elements were mounted respectively. To evaluate the disturbance caused by the penetration of the probe, shear wave velocity measurements were carried out in the Kaolinite slurry in the laboratory. Finally, the probe was penetrated in coastal mud near Incheon, Korea, using SPT(standard penetration test)rods pushed with a routine boring machine and shear wave velocity measurements were carried out. The results were verified with data from laboratory and cone testing. The performance of the probe turns out to be excellent in terms of data quality and testing convenience.
Two kinds of piezoelectric actuator are applied to the valve for controlling the direction, the flow and the pressure of the fluid. One is a stack type piezoelectric actuator which has very fast response characteristics but very tiny displacement. The other is a bender type piezoelectric actuator which has also fast response characteristics but lower than the stack type one, and has longer displacement than the stack type one. So, the bender type piezoelectric actuator has advantage to apply to the valve for controlling a large amount of flow and fast on-off operating. In this study, the bender type piezoelectric pneumatic valve for color sorter is designed and fabricated. The new type high speed piezo valve with the both side supporting mechanism for high operating frequency and high reliability is discussed for separating the foreign body from the grains. Finally, the performance characteristics of a fabricated valve are analyzed and the frequency characteristics are also discussed for substituting the conventional type solenoid actuator.
