평행평판내 비대칭 난류유동과 열전달의 예측 (Prediction of Asymmetric Turbulent Fluid Flow and Heat Transfer in the Parallel Plates)

  • We report on the analytical results of examination of fully developed asymmetric flow and heat transfer between parallel plane plates. The asymmetry was introduced by roughening one of the plane while the other was left smooth. The integral method together with a turbulence model based on modified Prandtl's mixing length theory for the rough was used to determine the velocity distribution and friction. The temperature distrtibution is then predicted and heat transfer coefficients are calculated. The present paper shows that the heat transfer increases more than the friction factor for a given roughness structure. Generally the results show the strong effect of asymmetry on engineering parameters. Furthermore it is the roughness structure which influences the nature of asymmetry and heat transfer.

유용성의 측면에서 기하학적, 열적 비대칭 사다리꼴 휜의 최적화 (Optimization of Geometrically, Thermally Asymmetric Trapezoidal Fins with a View of Effectiveness)

  • Optimum fin effectiveness of geometrically and thermally asymmetric trapezoidal fins is represented as a function of the ratio of the fin bottom to top Biot numbers, the ratio of the fin tip to top Biot numbers and fin shape factor. Optimum fin effectiveness is taken as 98% of the maximum fin effectiveness by comparing the increasing rate of fin effectiveness with that of dimensionless fin length. For this analysis, two dimensional separation of variables method is used. Also, the value of the slope of upper surface of the fin and fin efficiency corresponding to optimum effectiveness are presented.

Flexural Vibration Analysis of a Sandwich Beam Specimen with a Partially Inserted Viscoelastic Layer

  • The flexural vibration characteristics of a sandwich beam system with a partially inserted viscoelastic layer were quantitatively studied using the finite element analysis in combination with the sine-sweep experiment. Asymmetric mode shapes of the flexural vibration were visualized by holographic interferometry, which agreed with those obtained by the finite element simulation. Effects of the length and the thickness of the partial viscoelastic layer on the system loss factor (η$\_$s/) and resonant frequency (f$\_$r/) were significantly large for both the symmetric and asymmetric modes of the beam system.

Bayesian Analysis of a New Skewed Multivariate Probit for Correlated Binary Response Data

  • This paper proposes a skewed multivariate probit model for analyzing a correlated binary response data with covariates. The proposed model is formulated by introducing an asymmetric link based upon a skewed multivariate normal distribution. The model connected to the asymmetric multivariate link, allows for flexible modeling of the correlation structure among binary responses and straightforward interpretation of the parameters. However, complex likelihood function of the model prevents us from fitting and analyzing the model analytically. Simulation-based Bayesian inference methodologies are provided to overcome the problem. We examine the suggested methods through two data sets in order to demonstrate their performances.

  • A geometrically asymmetric trapezoidal fin with variable fin base thickness and height is optimized based on the fixed fin base height using a one-dimensional analytic method. The temperature profile along the normalized X position in the fin is presented. For the fixed fin base height, the optimum heat loss, fin length and efficiency as a function of inside fluid convection characteristic number, fin base thickness and height, fin shape factor, convection characteristic numbers ratio and ambient convection characteristic number are represented. One of the results shows that the effect of fin base height and ambient convection characteristic number on the optimum values is remarkable.

  • Voltage unbalance is generated by the load and impedance mismatching at the 3-phase 4-wire system of customer load. Voltage unbalance factor can be changed by the voltage amplitude or phase angle, and both. A small voltage unbalance is connected to high current unbalance. If the voltage unbalance is generated at the joint system of 1-phase and 3-phase load, Induction motor due to the current unbalance increase is generated loss, noise and torque ripple. 비대칭 DGMOSFET의 채널길이와 두께 비에 따른 문턱전압이하 스윙 분석 (Analysis of Subthreshold Swing for Ratio of Channel Length and Thickness of Asymmetric Double Gate MOSFET)

  • 본 연구에서는 비대칭 이중게이트 MOSFET의 채널길이와 채널두께의 비에 따른 문턱전압이하 스윙의 변화를 분석하고자한다. 비대칭 이중게이트 MOSFET는 상하단 게이트 구조를 달리 제작할 수 있어 단채널효과를 제어할 수 있는 요소가 증가한다는 장점이 있다. 특히 채널길이를 감소하였을 경우 문턱전압이하 스윙의 급격한 증가로 인한 특성저하 현상을 감소시킬 수 있다. 그러나 스켈링 이론에 따라 채널길이 감소에 따라 채널두께도 변화되어야하며 이에 문턱전압이하 스윙이 변화하게 된다. 그러므로 채널길이와 채널두께의 비가 문턱전압이하 스윙을 결정하는 중요 요소가 된다. 해석학적으로 문턱전압이하 스윙을 분석하기 위하여 해석학적 전위분포를 포아송방정식을 통하여 유도하였으며 다양한 채널길이 및 채널두께에 대하여 전도중심과 문턱전압이하 스윙을 계산한 결과 채널길이와 채널두께의 비에 따라 전도중심과 문턱전압이하 스윙이 변화한다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 비대칭 이중게이트(double gate; DG) MOSFET의 채널길이에 대한 문턱전압이하 스윙의 변화에 대하여 분석하였다. 문턱전압이하 스윙은 트랜지스터의 디지털특성을 결정하는 중요한 요소로서 채널길이가 감소하면 특성이 저하되는 문제가 나타나고 있다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 개발된 DGMOSFET의 문턱전압이하 스윙의 채널길이에 대한 변화를 채널두께, 산화막두께, 상하단 게이트 전압 및 도핑농도 등에 따라 조사하고자 한다. 특히 하단 게이트 구조를 상단과 달리 제작할 수 있는 비대칭 DGMOSFET에 대하여 문턱전압이하 스윙을 분석함으로써 하단 게이트 전압 및 하단 산화막 두께 등에 대하여 자세히 관찰하였다. 문턱전압이하 스윙의 해석학적 모델을 구하기 위하여 포아송방정식에서 해석학적 전위분포모델을 유도하였으며 도핑분포함수는 가우스분포함수를 사용하였다. 결과적으로 문턱전압이하 스윙은 상하단 게이트 전압 및 채널도핑농도 그리고 채널의 크기에 매우 민감하게 변화하고 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

A New Single-Stage PFC AC/DC Converter with Low Link-Capacitor Voltage

  • A conventional Single-Stage Power-Factor-Correction (PFC) AC/DC converter has a link capacitor voltage problem under high line input and low load conditions. In this paper, this problem is analyzed by using the voltage conversion ratio of the DC/DC conversion cell. By applying this analysis, a new Single-Stage PFC AC/DC converter with a boost PFC cell integrated with a Voltage-Doubler Rectified Asymmetrical Half-Bridge (VDRAHB) is proposed. The proposed converter features good power factor correction, low current harmonic distortions, tight output regulations and low voltage of the link capacitor. An 85W prototype was implemented to show that it meets harmonic requirements and standards satisfactorily with near unity power factor and high efficiency over universal input.

  • A singl-phase power factor corrected converter for switched reluctance motor driving is presented to achieve sinusoidal, near unity power factor input currents. Because it combines a power factor corrected converter and a conventional asymmetric SRM driver Into one power stage, the configuration has a simple structure resulted in low cost. A prototype to drive 6/6 poles SRM employing a parking magnet is designed to evaluate the proposed topology The characteristics and operational mode will be discussed in depth, and the validity of proposed driver will be verified through the experimental results.
