In this paper, we proposed two kids of dynamic priority control mechanisms controlling the cell service ratio in order to improve the QOS(Quality of Service). We also analyse theoretically the characteristics of cell loss probability and mean cell delay time by applying the proposed priority control mechanisms to ATM switch with output buffer. The proposed priority control mechanisms have the same principles of storing cells into buffer but the different principles of serving cells from buffer. The one is the control mechanism controlling the cell service ratio according to the relative cell occupancy ratio of buffer, the other is the control mechanism controlling the cell service ratio according to both the relative cell occupancy ratio of buffer and the average arrival rate. The two service classes of our concern are the delay sensitive class and the loss sensitive class. The analytical results show that the proposed control mechanisms are able to improve the QOS, the characteristics of cell loss probability and mean cell delay time, by selecting properly the relative cell occupancy ratio of buffer and the average arrival rate. conventional DLB algorithm does not support synchronous cells, but the proposed algorithm gives higher priority to synchronous cells. To reduce synchronous cell loss rate, the synchronous cell detector is used in the proposed algorithm. Synchronous cell detector detects synchronous cells, and passes them cells to the 2nd Leaky-Bucket. So it is similar to give higher priority to synchronous cells. In this paper, the proposed algorithm used audio/video traffic modeled by On/Off and Two-state MMPP, and simulated by SLAM II package. As simulation results, the proposed algorithm gets lower synchronous cell loss rate than the conventional DLB algorithms. The improved DLB algorithm for multimedia synchronization can be extended to any other cells which require higher priority.

Transportation provides an infrastructure vital to economic growth, and it is also an integral part of production. As a port is regarded as the interface between the maritime transport and domestic transport sectors, it certainly play a key role in any economic development. Ship's delay caused by port congestion has recently has recently attracted attended with the analysis of overall operation in port. In order to analyse complicated port operation which contains large number of variable factors, queueing theory is needed to be adopted, which is applicable to a large scale transportation system in chiding ship's delay in Inchon port in relation to ship's delay problem. The overall findings are as follows ; 1. The stucture of queueing model in this port can be represented as a complex of multi-channel single-phase 2. Ship's arrival and service pattern were Poisson Input Erlangian Service. 3. The suitable formula to calculate the mean delay in this port, namely, $W_q={\frac{{\rho}}{{\lambda}(1-{\rho})}}{\frac{e{\small{N}}({\rho}{\cdot}N)}{D_{N-1}({\rho}{\cdot}N)}}$ Where, ${\lambda}$ : mean arrival rate ${\mu}$ : mean servicing rate N : number of servicing channel ${\rho}$ : utilization rate (l/Nm) $e{\small{N}}$ : the Poisson function $D_{(n-1)}$ : a function of the cumulative Poisson function 4. The utility rate is 95.0 percents in general piers, 75.39 percents in container piers, and watiting time 28.43 hours in general piers, 13.67 hours in container piers, and the length of queue is 6.17 ships in general piers, 0.93 ships in container piers, and the ship turnaround time is 107.03 hours in general piers, 51.93 hours in container piers.
Purpose: Open extremity fractures require prompt antibiotic medication and initial debridement surgery to reduce the infection rate and restore functional stabilization. We aimed to report the effects and positive outcomes of a trauma team approach on the management of open extremity fractures in polytrauma patients. Methods: This retrospective review included all polytrauma patients with open extremity fractures admitted between March 2009 and December 2019. Patients were divided into two groups according to whether they were treated before or after the implementation of the trauma team approach (March 2014). We analyzed the outcomes in each group with respect to the time interval until the doctor's arrival, total length of stay in the emergency department, the time interval until initial antibiotic treatment and operation, whether the initial operation was performed within 24 hours, and the rate of deep infections. Results: A total of 123 patients met the inclusion criteria. There were no statistically significant differences in demographic characteristics. The time interval until the doctor's arrival (64.12±49.2 minutes vs. 19.82±15.23 minutes; p=0.035) and initial antibiotic treatment (115.47±72.12 minutes vs. 48.78±30.12 minutes; p=0.023) significantly improved after implementing the trauma team approach. The union rate was not significantly different. However, the time interval until initial debridement, opportunity for initial debridement within 24 hours, and the rate of deep infections demonstrated better results. Conclusions: The reduced time interval until initial antibiotic treatment and debridement could be attributed to the positive effect of the trauma team approach on the management of open extremity fractures in polytrauma patients.
The leaky bucket scheme is a promising method that regulates input traffics for preventive congestion control. In the ATM network, the input traffics are bursty and transmitted at high-speed. In order to get the low loss probability for bursty input traffics, it is known that the leaky bucket scheme with static leaky rate requires larger data buffer and token pool size. This causes the increase of the mean waiting time for an input traffic to pass the policing function, which would be inappropriate for real time traffics such as voice and video. We present the leaky bucket scheme with dynamic leaky rate in which the token generation period changes according to buffer occupancy. In the leaky bucket scheme with dynamic leaky rate, the cell loss probability and the mean waiting time are reduced in comparison with the leaky bucket scheme with static leaky rate. We analyze the performance of the proposed leaky bucket scheme in discrete-time case by assuming arrival process to be Markov-modulated Bernoulli process (MMBP).

In this study, performance analysis and design optimization is carried out for a multi-rate spring brake system, which is used in a cable ride to stop the arriving passengers in safe and comfortable manner. Mathematical model for the spring is developed toward the objective of minimizing the impact at the arrival while satisfying the constraint of limited distance at the stop. Matlab code is utilized to examine parameters affecting the performance of the brake system. The results are validated by a commercial software RecurDyn. Kriging meta model is used to reduce the computational cost of the analysis. Optimization is conducted by RecurDyn, from which the design parameters are determined that minimizes the impact at the stop.

This paper is to verify that 2-state MMPP Model conform to ATM VBR traffic characteristics by measuring and analyzing real-time VBR traffic in KT's ATM network. As a result, we validated the fact that real-time VBR traffic of ATM network cannot be apply to MMPP model and must be represented by previously general On-Off Model with characteristics as follows: arrival rate of On state (λ$_1$) is deterministic, arrival rate of Off state (λ$_2$) is zero, and two transition rate (T$_1$,T$_2$) is only random variable. As research results are to handle real traffic, these results can be used to all ATM network traffic model with traffic management function such as KT's ATM network.

This paper is on a system design of recognizing sound sources and tracing locations from detecting a section of sound sources which is strong in surrounding environmental sounds about sound sources occurring in an abnormal situation by using signals within the section. In detection of the section with strong sound sources, weighted average delta energy of a short section is calculated from audio signals received. After inputting it into a low-pass filter, through comparison of values of the output result, a section strong in background sound is defined. In recognition of sound sources, from data of the detected section, using an HMM(: Hidden Markov Model) as a traditional recognition method, learning and recognition are realized from creating information to recognize sound sources. About signals of sound sources that surrounding background sounds are included, by using energy of existing signals, after detecting the section, compared with the recognition through the HMM, a recognition rate of 3.94% increase is shown. Also, based on the recognition result, location grasping by using TDOA(: Time Delay of Arrival) between signals in the section accords with 97.44% of angles of a real occurrence location.

The recent study of the delay models have assumed random arrival which has a constant average flow rate throughout the cycle. However, where signals are spaced closely together or form part of progressive system, platoon flows are common and more closely represent reality. In such cases, those results are quite different pattern of estimated delay from that of observed one. In order to solve this problem, the 1985 HCM takes Progression Adjustment Factor (PAF) into account. In the 1985 HCM, however, it has deficiencies in defining and applying it, such as platoon ratio ($R_p$) and platoon arrival type. The Purpose of this study is to investigate theoretically the predictive ability of the individual models concerned through comparing the estimated delay and PAF suggested by NCHRP Report 339, KHCM or USHCM (1985) with the observed obtained by field survey at a signalized intersection.
Purpose: There has been an increase in the number of prehospital cardiac arrests due to the increasing number of cardiovascular diseases and the increase in the average age of the population. We performed this study to identify the proper resuscitation technique and AED to be used to increase the survival rate in prehospital cardiac arrests. Methods: This studied 159 victims with prehospital cardiac arrests(VF or VT rhythm) by EMT's Reports from January to August, 2005. Results: 108 of 159 victims(67.9%) were shocked by AED. Eighty of 159 victims(50.9%) were recorded with AED shock in prehospital cardiac arrests. A number of shocks is averaged 2.19; 46.2% of one-shock and 86.1% of 1-3 shock. EMS first-tier response interval from time of dispatch to scene arrival was 5.88 minutes, from scene arrival to scene start was 7.36 minutes, from scene start to hospital admission was 9.91 minutes and from scene arrival to AED shock was 6.84 minutes. EMT provided advanced care to prehospital cardiac arrests: 97.5% in CPR, 10.1% in advanced airway management, 67.9% in AED shock. Conclusion: With the increase in cardiovascular disease and old age, the number of prehospital cardiac arrests has risen gradually. However, there were lack of CPR by bystander, defibrillation and advanced cardiac life support(ACLS) in prehospital stage. To improve the adequacy of basic life support and to increase the performance of ACLS, especially AED, we must create challenges to develop new protocols in prehospital care.
This study aimed to establish an injection protocol to determine the precise CT scan timing in canine abdominal multi-phase CT using the test bolus method. Three dynamic scans with different contrast injection parameters were performed using a crossover design in eight normal beagle dogs. A contrast material was administered at a fixed dose of 200 mg iodine/kg as a test bolus for dynamic scans 1 and 2, and 600 mg iodine/kg as a main bolus for dynamic scan 3. The contrast materials were administered with 1 ml/s in dynamic scan 1, and 3 ml/s in dynamic scan 2 and 3. The mean arrival time to the appearance of aortic enhancement in dynamic scan 3 was similar to that in dynamic scan 2, and different significantly to that in dynamic scan 1. The mean arrival time to the peak aortic and pancreatic parenchymal enhancement in dynamic scan 3 was similar to that in dynamic scan 1, and different significantly to that in dynamic scan 2. In multi-phase CT scan, a test bolus should be injected with the same injection duration of a main bolus, to obtain the precise arrival times to peak of arterial or pancreatic parenchymal enhancement.
