The purpose of this study is to develop and apply a Convergence program for teaching of congruence and symmetry and to investigate the effects of the mathematical creativity and convergence talent. For these purposes, research questions were set up as follows: 1. How is a Convergence program for teaching of congruence and symmetry developed? 2. How does a Convergence program affect the mathematics creativity and convergence talent of fifth grade student in elementary school? The subjects in this study were 16 students in fifth-grade class in elementary school located in Songpa-gu, Seoul. A Convergence program was developed using the integrated unit design process chose the concept of congruence and symmetryas its topic. The developed program consisted of a total 12 class activities plan, lesson plans for 5 activities. Mathematics creativity test, a test on affective domain related with convergence talent measurement were carried out before and after the application of the developed program so as to analyze the its effects. In addition, students' satisfaction for the developed program was investigated by a questionnaire. The results of this study were as follows: First, A convergence program should be developed using the integrated unit design process to avoid focusing on the content of any one subject area. The program for teaching of congruence and symmetry should be considered students' learning style and their preferences for media. Second, the convergence program improved the students' mathematical creativity and convergence talent. Among the sub-factors of mathematical creativity, originality was especially improved by this program. Students thought that the program is good for their creativity. Plus, this program use two subject class, Math and Art, so student do not think about one subject but focus on topic 'congruence and symmetry'. It help students to develop their convergence talent.

This paper proposes a method for vehicle license plate detection using mathematical morphology and symmetry. In general, the shape, color, size, and position of license plate are regulated by authorities for a better recognition by human. Among them, the relatively big intensity difference between the letter and the background region of the license plate and the symmetry about the plate are major discriminating factors for the detection. For the first, the opened image is subtracted from the closed image to intensify the region of plate using the rectangular structuring element which has the width of the distance between two characters. Second the subtraction image is average filtered with the mask size of the plate. Third, the column maximum graph of the average filtered image is acquired and the symmetry of the graph is measured at every position. Fourth, the peaks of the average filtered image are searched. Finally, the plate is assumed to be positioned around the one of local maxima nearest to the point of the highest symmetry. About 1,000 images taken by speed regulation camera are used for the experiment. The experimental result shows that the plate detection rate is about 93%.
Spin Hamiltonian for the paramagnetic center with a three-fold symmetry and high spin ($S{\geq}2$) multiplicity should contain the fourth order zero-field splitting (ZFS) terms. Electron magnetic resonance transition lines of the center with S = 5/2 are expected to split in a pair when the magnetic field is applied off the principal axes of ZFS, while they are superimposed when the magnetic field is applied parallel to the principal axes of ZFS. In this study we report that the transition lines of $Mn^{2+}$ centers at the three-fold symmetric sites in $LiNbO_3$, chemically equivalent but physically different, split in two due to the nonzero fourth order ZFS term.
An experimental study providing additional knowledge of quasi-conical symmetry in swept shock wave/turbulent boundary-layer interactions is described. When a turbulent boundary layer on the flat plate is subjected to interact with a swept planar shock wave, the interaction flowfield far from fin leading edge has a nature of conical symmetry, which topological features of the interaction flow appear to emanate from a virtual conical origin. Surface streakline patterns obtained from the kerosene-lampblack tracings have been utilized to obtain representative surface features of the flow, including the location of the virtual conical origin. The scaling law for the sharp-fin interactions suggested by previous investigators has been reexamined for different freestream Mach numbers. It is noticed that the scaling law reasonably agrees with the present experimental data, however, that the law is not appropriate to estimate the location of the virtual conical origin. Further knowledge of the correlation for the virtual conical origin has thus been proposed.
Oblique car to car frontal impact is quite common on the road and series of studies have been done to realize this in the lab. At a certain angle of oblique crash a car (ego) is to travel at a speed of xkm/h to hit the other car(traffic) which is approaching to ego at a speed of ykm/h. Symmetry of the speed of two vehicles, x vs. y, is studied with respect to the impulse of the ego vehicle as well as occupant injury. If there is symmetry of speed of two vehicles, number of case studies needed to analyze the oblique frontal impact may decrease: ex. in the case of 30degree oblique crash 40km/h (ego) / 80km/h (traffic) will show the similar behavior as 80km/h (ego) / 40km/h (traffic) crash.
The object of the present paper is to introduce a type of non-flat Riemannian manifold, called a weakly cyclic generalized B-symmetric manifold (W CGBS)n. We obtain a sufficient condition for a weakly cyclic generalized B-symmetric manifold to be a generalized quasi Einstein manifold. Next we consider conformally flat weakly cyclic generalized B-symmetric manifolds. Then we study Einstein (W CGBS)n (n > 2). Finally, it is shown that the semi-symmetry and Weyl semi-symmetry are equivalent in such a manifold.

In this paper we consider the Bayesian hypothese testing for independence and symmetry in Freund's bivariate exponential model with censored data In Bayesian testing problem we use the noninformative priors for parameters which are improper and are defined only up to arbitrary constants. And we use the recently proposed hypotheses testing criterion called the intrinsic Bayes factor. Also we derive the arithmetic and median intrinsic Bayes factors and use these results of analyze some data sets.
We construct a symmetric finite volume element (SFVE) scheme for a self-adjoint elliptic problem on tetrahedron grids and prove that our new scheme has optimal convergent order for the solution and has superconvergent order for the flux when grids are quasi-uniform and regular. The symmetry of our scheme is helpful to solve efficiently the corresponding discrete system. Numerical experiments are carried out to confirm the theoretical results.

In this paper, we consider two components system which the lifetimes have a bivariate weibull distribution with random censored data. Here the censoring time is independent of the lifetimes of the components. We construct large sample tests for independence and symmetry between two-components based on maximum likelihood estimators and the natural estimators. Also we present a numerical study.

The infrared and resonance Raman spectra are reported for nickel and zinc tetraphenylchlorins. It is found that the IR and RR spectra become more complicated compared with the corresponding porphyrin analogs due to the symmetry changes. Some vibrational parameters like the core size and the symmetry change are examined in accordance with vibrational spectra of other type of chlorins.
