  • In this paper, we carry out personal lessons in order to improve the problem-solving abilities of students who have a low level of university general mathematics, and find the efficient teaching method of the personal lessons by analyzing the mathematic achievement of the participating students.

  • Woven frames are motivated from distributed signal processing with potential applications in wireless sensor networks. g-frames provide more choices on analyzing functions from the frame expansion coefficients. The objective of this paper is to introduce woven g-frames in Hilbert C∗-modules, and to develop its fundamental properties. In this investigation, we establish sufficient conditions under which two g-frames possess the weaving properties. We also investigate the sufficient conditions under which a family of g-frames possess weaving properties.

  • The purpose of the study was to construct future research basis for large scale assessment framework by analyzing current domestic and international large scale assessment frameworks. Six frameworks were compared and analyzed. The characteristics of TIMSS, PISA, NAEP, NECAP were described in detail, and three frameworks, Korea, the United States, and International, were compared and analysed.

The Development of Mathematical Performance Assessment for the 7th Graders (중학교 2학년용 수학 수행평가문항 개발 및 적용에 관한 연구 -서술형과 실험.실습형을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop mathematics performance assessment items for the 8th graders and to analyze their performance ability. First, five-themes were selected : 'Calculator', 'Cut and Paste', 'Rule finding', 'Place Assignment', 'My thinking'. Then, the assistance of Mathematics education specialists and Teachers, 10 P. A. items consisting of two subtasks and their evaluation rubric were developed. Then, items were revised by the results of pilot test. And, final version of items were administrated to the 8th graders of three regions(Seoul, Chongiu, Chungp$\acute{y}$ong). Through analyzing the performance ability of the subjects assessment items, the following conclusion were obtained: They were very insufficient in the ability to find some patterns in the given problem situation and to describe logically the patterns in terms of mathematical terminology. It is believed because they were familiar with the objective test to take one or short answer.

  • In this paper, we applied NIE(Newspaper In Education) to the course of study for statistics unit of elementary mathematics which can improve students' abilities of concept of statistics, analyzing data and problem solving so they can do these with direct activity by themselves and find out how NIE effects on children's learning achievement for statistics unit and more effective solution for the course of study for elementary mathematics.

ON STABILITY AND BIFURCATION OF PERIODIC SOLUTIONS OF DELAY DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS

  • The purpose of this paper is to study a class of delay differential equations with two delays. First, we consider the existence of periodic solutions for some delay differential equations. Second, we investigate the local stability of the zero solution of the equation by analyzing the corresponding characteristic equation of the linearized equation. The exponential stability of a perturbed delay differential system with a bounded lag is studied. Finally, by choosing one of the delays as a bifurcation parameter, we show that the equation exhibits Hopf and saddle-node bifurcations.

A Stage-Structured Predator-Prey System with Time Delay and Beddington-DeAngelis Functional Response

  • A stage-structured predator-prey system with time delay and Beddington-DeAngelis functional response is considered. By analyzing the corresponding characteristic equation, the local stability of a positive equilibrium is investigated. The existence of Hopf bifurcations is established. Formulae are derived to determine the direction of bifurcations and the stability of bifurcating periodic solutions by using the normal form theory and center manifold theorem. Numerical simulations are carried out to illustrate the theoretical results.

Using an educational software Graphers in elementary school mathematics (초등 수학 수업에서의 소프트웨어(Graphers) 활용)

  • The graph unit(chapter) is a good example of a topic in elementary school mathematics for which computer use can be incorporated as part of the instruction. Teaching graph can be facilitated by using the graphing utilities of computers, which make it possible to observe the property of many types of graphs. This study was concerned with utilizing an educational software Graphers as an instructional tool in teaching to help young students gain a better understanding of graph concepts. For this purpose, three types of instructional activities using Graphers were shown in the paper. Graphers is a data-gathering tool for creating pictorial data chosen from several data sets. They can represent their data on a table or with six types of graphs such as Pictograph, Bar Graph, Line Graph, Circle Graph, Grid Plot and Loops. They help students to select the graph(s) which are the most appropriate for the purpose of analyzing data while comparing various types of graphs. They also let them modify or change graphs, such as adding grid lines, changing the axis scale, or adding title and labels. Eventually, students have a chance to interpret graphs meaningfully and in their own way.

  • In this paper, we investigate the methodology to calculate the volume of the pyramid and frustum of the pyramid that is found in Gu Jang Sel Hae and San Hak Jeong Ui(The first volume)text. Comparing and analyzing content in Korean and Chinese mathematics education textbooks that uses as a foundation the aforementioned methodology, it is proposed that in future development of mathematics education curriculum the area of solid geometry be taught in greater depth in basic study guides.

A Study of Applying Jigsaw Model to Applied Mathematics (과제분담 협동학습을 응용수학에 적용한 사례 연구)

  • It is important to encourage students who are having difficulty learning mathematics and majors due to lack of basic knowledge, and encourage them to improve their academic performance by focusing on and participating in class. The purpose of this study is to confirm the applicability of the Jigsaw Method by analyzing the change of the learner's academic achievement and the attitude of the learner's mathematics by applying the Jigsaw Model. During the four weeks, the Jigsaw Model was applied to 30 experimental students and the instructor-led lectures were given to 36 students in the comparative group. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that the average of the experimental groups applying the Jigsaw model was higher than the average of the comparative group in the lecture class. The results of the survey showed that the Jigsaw Model increased class concentration and participation, helped self - directed learning, and had high learning satisfaction.
