  • The purpose of this research is to find out the problem of plan composition by use the school building. The research was performed through the checking of 13 high schools which were built after 1997 in Busan. Followings are the result of the research. Presently, all the schools are divided classes into different levels and teach students, however, it is only limited to English and Mathematics and being carried on mostly for 1st graders. Moreover, although the plan is composed Department System plan which intended to ues new various learning method, schools have changed their plan into Usual with Variation type which is old educational program and renovated a few classes for certain subjects. Due to above reasons, the new kinds of space for Department System plan is used only as a study room by reform or even not used at all. Therefore, improvement of those problems are significant in schools.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of the teaching and learning programs for science teachers' scientific hypothesis testing-method invention. Subjects were 30 secondary school science teachers. The potato juice task was administered to the subjects before and after instructional treatments. The four-step strategy including the steps of identifying factors, identifying variables, selecting variables and inventing methods, was applied to the development of the teaching and learning programs for the science teachers. The programs were developed by 6 experts through the R&D method. The results of this study revealed that the number and elaborateness of science teachers' scientific hypothesis testing-methods increased after the instructional treatments. The testing ability of testing-methods invented by science teachers in the posttest was stronger than the one of the methods invented in the pretest. This study also discussed the implications of these findings for teaching and learning in science education.

  • Recently, entrepreneurship education has been emphasized in order to bring creative innovation to the fourth industrial revolution era. The purpose of this study is to suggest methods to promote practice by developing an educational program based on the maker education model to foster entrepreneurship of adolescents proposed in the previous study. For this purpose, we developed two kinds of programs and materials according to the subject and the level for the 3rd grader in middle school and first grader in high school. The final output was composed of the workbook for students, the guidebook for teachers, the PPT, and the worksheet for a team activity. The pilot workshop of the developed program was conducted for 14 middle school students. The final program was developed after being received advisories by three experts. This study is meaningful in that it can contribute to foster entrepreneurship education in the field by proposing specific programs required for practicing maker education for entrepreneurship.

  • Rapid changes in modern society after the COVID-19 have highlighted artificial intelligence talent as a major influencing factor in determining national competitiveness. Accordingly, the Ministry of Education planned a large-scale SW·AI camp education project to develop the digital capabilities of 4th to 6th grade elementary school students and middle and high school students who are in a vacuum in artificial intelligence education. Therefore, this study aims to develop a camp-type SW·AI education program for students in grades 4-6 of elementary school so that students in grades 4-6 of elementary school can acquire basic knowledge in artificial intelligence. For this, the meaning of SW·AI education in elementary school is defined and SW·AI contents to be dealt with in elementary school are: understanding of SW AI, 'principle and application of SW AI', and 'social impact of SW AI' was set. In addition, an attempt was made to link the set elements of elementary school SW AI education and learning with related subjects and units of textbooks currently used in elementary schools. As for the program used for education, entry, a software coding learning tool based on block coding, is designed to strengthen software programming basic competency, and all programs are designed to be operated centered on experience and experience-oriented participants in consideration of the developmental characteristics of elementary school students. In order for SW·AI education to be organized and operated as a member of the regular curriculum, it is suggested that research based on the analysis of regular curriculum contents and in-depth analysis of SW·AI education contents is necessary.

  • For teachers to develop new beliefs regarding science teaching and learning, they must undergo a process similar to what they are trying to provide their students. Seventy-one Korean secondary school teachers including 20 earth science teachers have participated in such process. In the four-week long summer workshop hosted by University of Iowa, science teachers were exposed to several activities and lectures wherein they experienced student-centered lessons by playing the roles of both teachers and learners. This study examined the influence of such experience on the teachers’ beliefs about science teaching and learning. Changes in teachers’ beliefs were found in seven question items on the subjects of goals of science learning, the roles of science teachers and students, and classroom practices after workshop participation; it was found that teachers’ beliefs of science learning and teaching shifted from teacher-centered to student-centered. Although this shift does not denote a complete shift from one extreme to the other, it is meaningful to note that teachers’ beliefs after attending the workshop were interpreted to be either anti- or contrary to teacher-centered. One of the possible factors for making such positive changes may have been teamwork or the teachers’ cooperative learning experience.

  • By learning math, constructing math problems helps us to improve analytical thinking ability and have a positive attitude and competency towards math leaning. Especially, gifted students should create math problems under certain circumstances beyond the level of solving given math problems. In this study, I examined the math problems made by the gifted students after the process of raising questions and discussing them for themselves by doing origami. I intended to get suggestions by analyzing of problem posing strategy and method facilitating the thinking of mathematics gifted students in an origami program.

  • Team-Based Learning can play an important role in gifted education, because that improve decision making, coordination and problem-solving ability through shapely team activity. So, when a program that founded on Team-Based Learning applied to gifted students, investigated the improved effects of creative problem solving ability. Developed programs consisted of total 10 times and were conducted the lesson for 13student (male 3, female 10) of 4, 5th grade gifted students class in S elementary school, Sancheong-gun. The improved effects of creative problem solving ability were selected as the self-checking tool of creative problem-solving ability. Due to a small number of students, nonparametric test has done with the results of before and after, it showed significantly improvements in significance level of 5%. In particular, there was a significant improvement in the field of divergent thinking, critical logical thinking. Therefore, the programs based on Team-Based Learning are effective for enhance creative problem solving ability of gifted students, they will be used widely in the classroom to require creative problem solving ability or the acquisition of knowledge of gifted students.

  • The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of students' storytelling on the science learning motivation and science related attitude in elementary science class. We had developed storytelling materials for 11 class hours on the 'Heat transfer and our life' unit based on the analysis of the 4th grade-science curriculum. The research sample was 22 4th graders who were belonged to one of the classes at an elementary school in Gwangju. The test of students' science learning motivation and science related attitude were administered before and after the storytelling treatment, and the difference was checked by the paired t-test using SPSS program. Students' perceptions on the storytelling were also investigated. The conclusions of this research are as follows. First, the students' storytelling tend to have somewhat positive influence on learning motivation. The each mean of post-test in the domain of attention, confidence and satisfaction was significantly higher than that of pre-test. Second, students' storytelling have a positive influence on scientific attitude. Although the means of post-test were higher than those of pre-test in both science subject attitude and scientific attitude domain, a statistically significant difference was found only in the scientific attitude domain. For future researches, the development of more story-materials or strategies for effective storytelling is needed.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop an astronomical observing education program that enables high school students to inquire the distance of astronomical bodies based on the research methods (observing open clusters and exploring collected big data) using small telescopes and DSLR cameras. After analyzing the 2015 revised science curriculum, we developed science club activity materials and teacher-student learning contents suitable for high school earth science education. A panel of six teachers and researchers of earth science education and astronomy, participated in developing the educational materials. The validity of the program was verified through establishing the agreement among the panels after in-depth discussions and clarifications. The program, developed with 10 lessons in total, showed high satisfactory content validity (CVI, .89) and conformity of school class (Likert's 5 point scales, 4.17). The feedback of the panels and the Delphi analysis continued to improve the quality of the program. The pilot testing result with high school students (N=9) showed that the students' satisfaction rate was high as 4.48. Using the astronomical observational education program of this study is expected to contribute in improving the convergence educational activity, interest, curiosity, and inquiry ability of students in the universe and the astronomical bodies.
