In this study, adsorption properties of oxidized NO by plasma using aminated polyolefin-g-GMA hybrid anion exchange fibers were investigated. The maximum conversion of $NO_2$ by plasma was 49% at the conditions of 200 ppm NO, 10% $O_2$ and 30 L/min of flow rate. The adsorption content for N02 of hybrid anion exchange fibers increased with increasing the swelling ratio and the highest value was 1.5 g $H_2O/g$ IEF. The adsorption of $NO_2$ by hybrid anion exchange fibers were very fast until 10 min and reached its maximum value of 80% at 120 min. Ion exchange capacity of hybrid anion exchange fibers increased with increasing the swelling ratio and it showed the highest 0.6 mmol/g IEF values at L/D=5. The adsorption isotherm model for hybrid anion exchange fibers were closer to Freundlich than Langmuir adsorption isotherm model. It was shown that adsorption of the multi-molecular layer was dominant.
This investigation involves a study of the physical and chemical factors of Pinus densiflora SIEB. et ZUCC. and Quercus mongolica Fisher barks affecting on the adsorption of heavy mteal ions. The results obtained can be summarized as follows. 1. The capacity of the untreated bark to remove the Cu and Cd from solution was similar to or 5% higher than that of formaldehyde treated bark in both species. Considering that untreated bark lead to color-leaching problem, bark treated with formaldehyde are economical. 2. With decreasing particle size of bark(20-80), the adsorption ratio of the Cu and Cd from solution was increased. Quercus bark adsorbed more Cu and Cd at smaller particle size compared to Pinus bark. 3. The heavy metal eqilibrium adsorption of the bark from Cu and Cd solution was attained within 10 min. Pinus bark removed about 48% of the Cu and 41% of the Cd from solution in 10 min while Quercus bark removed about 50% during that period. 4. As the initial metal concentration increased. the absolute metal uptake was increased while percentage removal was decreased. At the lower metal concentration (10 ppm). Pinus and Quercus barks removed 77-94% of the Cu and 72-84% of the Cd. At high metal concentration (200 ppm), the adsorption ratio was 40% Cu and 25% Cd, respectivelty. 5. The maximum adsorption of the Cu and Cd from solution was obtained at pH 5-6 in filtrate. 6. With increased bark weight per given metal concentration, absolute removal of metal ion from solution was increased, but the percentage removal was decreased. The amount of adsorption was 4.2 mg Cu and 4.2 mg Cd per gr. Pinus, bark and 5.4 mg Cu and 4.3 mg Cd per gr. Quercus bark, respectively.

The adsorption characteristics of Cd(II) and Pb(II) ions has been studied by using chitin as an adsorbent. The pure chitin was obtained from the extraction of red-crab shell dumped by fish factory. Adsorption kinetics of Cd(II) and Pb(II) ions on the chitin reached at the maximum adsorption within two minutes. Adsorbed amounts of heavy metals were pH 7.0>10.5>3.5 in the following order. Adsorption ratio by chitin was 21${\sim}$99% for Cd(II) ion and 24${\sim}$95% for Pb(II) ion. Recovery ratio of Cd(II) ion on the chitin was 22${\sim}$53%, and that of Pb(II) ion was 22${\sim}$73%. The adsorption behavior of these heavy metals was explained well by Freundlich adsorption isotherm.
Electrochemical Ion Exchang(EIX) electrode containing Amberlite IRP-64 as a cation ion exchange resin and Stylene-Buthylene-Rubber(SBR) as a binder was fabricated by the compressed diecasting method. The adsorption and elution characteristics in copper sulfate solution were investigated at the various electrode potentials and electrolyte pHs. In the adsorption process, it was found that the maximum adsorption rate of copper was obtained at -1800 mV and the ratio of adsorption was 92% during 90 min. In the elution process, the elution rate of copper was increased in proportion to anodic potential in the present experimental range and the ratio of elution was 88% during 50 mins at 3600 mV. The adsorption and elution processes were significantly affected by the variation of local pH in the vicinity of electrochemical ion exchange electrode. The higher performances of adsorption and elution were elution were obtained at basic and acidic eletrolytes.
A zeolitic material (Z-Y2) was synthesized from Coal Fly Ash (CFA) using a fusion/hydrothermal method under low-alkali condition (NaOH/CFA = 0.6). The adsorption performance of the prepared zeolite was evaluated by monitoring its removal efficiencies for Sr and Cs ions, which are well-known as significant radionuclides in liquid radioactive waste. The XRD (X-ray diffraction) patterns of the synthesized Z-Y2 indicated that a Na-A type zeolite was formed from raw coal fly ash. The SEM (scanning electron microscope) images also showed that a cubic crystal structure of size $1{\sim}3{\mu}m$ was formed on its surface. In the adsorption kinetic analysis, the adsorption of Sr and Cs ions on Z-Y2 fitted the pseudo-second-order kinetic model well, instead of the pseudo-first-order kinetic model. The second-order kinetic rate constant ($k_2$) was determined to be $0.0614g/mmol{\cdot}min$ for Sr and $1.8172g/mmol{\cdot}min$ for Cs. The adsorption equilibria of Sr and Cs ions on Z-Y2 were fitted successfully by Langmuir model. The maximum adsorption capacity ($q_m$) of Sr and Cs was calculated as 1.6846 mmol/g and 1.2055 mmol/g, respectively. The maximum desorption capacity ($q_{dm}$) of the Na ions estimated via the Langmuir desorption model was 2.4196 mmol/g for Sr and 2.1870 mmol/g for Cs. The molar ratio of the desorption/adsorption capacity ($q_{dm}/q_m$) was determined to be 1.44 for Na/Sr and 1.81 for Na/Cs, indicating that the amounts of desorbed Na ions and adsorbed Sr and Cs ions did not yield an equimolar ratio when using Z-Y2.
We report a facile synthetic approach of high-quality chromium(III) terephthalate [MIL-101(Cr)] by acetate-assisted method in the absence of toxic HF. Results indicate that the morphology and surface area of the MIL-101(Cr) can be tuned by modifying the molar ratio of acetate/$Cr(NO_3)_3$. The Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area of MIL-101(Cr) synthesized at the optimized condition can exceed 3300 $m^2/g$. It is confirmed that acetate could promote the dissolution of di-carboxylic linker and accelerate the nucleation ratio. So the pure and small size of MIL-101(Cr) with clean pores can be obtained. $CO_2$, $CH_4$ and $N_2$ adsorption isotherms of the samples are studied at 298 K and 313 K. Compared with the traditional method, MIL-101(Cr) synthesized by acetate-assisted method possess enhanced $CO_2$ selective adsorption capacity. At 1.0 bar 298 K, it exhibits 47% enhanced $CO_2$ adsorption capacity. This may be attributed to the high surface area together with clean pores of MIL-101(Cr).

The PSA cycle was performed for the separation of binary gas mixture $H_2/Ar$ (80%/20%) using the six-step two-bed process. Adsorption equilibrium contains a LRC model for equilibrium adsorption isotherms and a LDF model for mass transfer. Aspen ADSIM, simulator was applied to predict the separation performance. The effect of cycle parameters such as feed rate, adsorption pressure and P/F ratio on the separation of hydrogen has been studied in experiment and simulation. In the results, maximize the recovery of hydrogen as a high purity was 13LPM feed flowrate, 120sec adsorption time, 11atm adsorption pressure and 0.1 P/F ratio in a cyclic steady-state come out since 10th cycle.

Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) supports and amine additives were investigated to adsorb $CO_2$. PMMA supports were fabricated by using different ratio of pore forming agents (porogen) to control the BET specific surface area, pore volume and distribution. Toluene and xylene are used for porogens. Supported amine sorbents were prepared by wet impregnation of tetraethylenepentamine (TEPA) on PMMA supports. So we could identify the effect of the pore structure of supports and the quantity of impregnated TEPA on the adsorption capacity. The increased amount of toluene as pore foaming agent resulted in the decreased average pore diameter and the increased BET surface area. Polymer supports with huge different pore distribution could be fabricated by controlling the ratio of porogen. After impregnation, the support with micropore structure is supposed the pore blocking and filling effect so that it has low $CO_2$ capacity and kinetics due to the difficulty of diffusing. Macropore structure indicates fast adsorption capacity and low influence of amine loading. In case of support with mesopore, it has high performance of adsorption capacity and kinetics. So high surface area and meso-/macro- pore structure is suitable for $CO_2$ capture.
A zeolite material with a Si/Al molar ratio of 1.2 was synthesized by changing the NaOH/CFA ratio of coal fly ash (CFA) via a fusion/hydrothermal reaction in the HD thermal power plant. The change in the crystal structure of the zeolite was confirmed using XRD and SEM, and the ammonia adsorption capacities of the synthesized zeolitic materials and a commercial zeolite (Na-A zeolite) were analyzed via an ammonia temperature-programmed desorption (NH3-TPD) process. The SEM and XRD results revealed out the zeolitic materials from the coal fly ash maintained a hexagonal Linde-type crystal structure similar to that of Na-A zeolite, but the crystallinity of the synthesized zeolitic material was reduced due to impurities. The NH3 adsorption capacity, determined from the NH3-TPD analysis of was 1.122 mmol/g of the synthesized zeolitic material, which was lower than the NH3 adsorption capacity of the Na-A zeolite.
The ion exchange characteristic of quaternary ammonium as functional group containing aminated acrylic fibrous ion exchanger were studied for the adsorption of linear alkylbenzene sulfonate (LAS) in a continuous ion exchange process. The adsorption capacities of aminated acrylic for LAS as the adsorption temperature were increased with increasing adsorption temperature and were equilibrated at $40^{\circ}C$. The maximum adsorption capacities as column packing ratio (L/D) were obtained at L/D>2. The adsorption capacity for LAS was increased with increasing pH and the maximum adsorption capacity as pH was obtained at pH 7. The effects of temperature and pH were similar to those of flow rate and concentration of LAS tin the breakthrough curves, the breakthrough time and slope of breakthrough corves decreased with increasing flow rate and concentration of LAS in adsorption process.
