The typical reason of the private sector's increasing share in standardization is that the procedures of official standardization organizations are out of step with the rate of technical development. At today's so fast pace that the success of a technology is decided in the market even before it is standardized, several industry leaders jointly make their draft standard at the early stage of development, which becomes 'De fecto Standard.' To respond effectively to current trends of standardization where the market's decision is thought much of than official standardization procedures, it is necessary to shift from our current public sector-driven to private sector-driven standardization. Therefore, to vitalize the private sector-driven standardization in Korea, there is a need to: Run a standard foundation to secure stable resources for standardization Make information exchange between the govertment and private sector active and policy-making on standards consistent by designating a private organization to cover the roles, policies on standards, and support of the national standardization organization Establish a system to make private sector-driven standards approved as international standards Offer a training program to forster standard experts Publicize the importance of standards Promote standardization forums driven by private businesses, like the Integrated Forum. Maximize the benefits of linking standards and patents Now, Korea is on the threshold of developing into a world-class standard leader, and the private sector-driven standardization should be a stepping-stone for crossing over the threshold. This study is designed to suggest a method of promoting private sector-driven standardization to effectively cope with fast-changing international standards, based on the cases in developed countries.

Along with the development of industrious society, the shape of city and the way of life have changed in accordance. The development of the city deepened gravitation of the city population, leading to the lack of housing and land, and apartment complexes became an alternative way of securing a number of families into a small space of land. Apartment can have a lot of families reside In a small space of land, and it can also be satisfactory to individual's privacy and anti-crime measures. On the other hand, there are negative problems with it. Among them, contacts with neighboring people showed that they only greeted each other when they met in the walkway. As shown in this, one of the reasons that there is a lack of friend ship activities is because there is short of space for common use. And in comparison to those of stairway walkway, apartments with one-passage walk way showed a higher level of contacts with neighbors. It is assumed that apartments with one-passage walk way have more chances to meet neighbors than do those of stairway walkway. This study analyzed the phases appearing in neighbor relations through investigation of the literature, and presented a coping measure. One solution is to prepare flower beds from the outside of walkway by enlarging the width of the walkway in apartments with one-passage walk way, and providing benches in front of flower beds so that residents can take a rest there. The more often residential people take a rest there, the more frequently they can meet each other. Accordingly this can solve problems of contacts with neighbors and the dreary scene of walkway can become a wider view in a nature friendly environment, bringing them to an active acquaintance activities.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the stresses of teachers for elementary science class. To do these, the Science Teacher Stress Inventory has been developed the Science Teacher Stress Inventory, which consisted of 45 stress factors with subcategories such as student characteristics, teacher characteristics, expertise of science education, school environment, and administrative procedures. 120 teachers for elementary science class have participated in this questionnaire survey. The results of this study are as follow: First, stress from teacher characteristics is perceived as having more stress factors than five stress factors (student characteristics, teacher characteristics, expertise of science education, school environment, and administrative procedures). but all of the five stress factors was under normal. The detail question of stress such as 'Having to guide educational guidance and course in life education', 'Having to cope with the demand of new curricula', 'Pace of the school day is too fast', 'No time to attend training of the experiment (preliminary experiment)', 'Not enough time to complete lesson preparation and marking', 'Having to cope with non-teaching delegated duties', 'Fear of getting injured as a result of lab accidents' are perceived as having a lot of stresses. Second, there were not statistically significant differences in their personal variables such as gender, the course of high school. but there were statistically significant differences in their personal variables such as whether elementary subject exclusive science teacher, career in education experience, teaching grade. Third, coping ways of stresses are active support for better science teaching conditions, training of the experiment for expertise of science education, developing a workbook for science class.
This study explored how young people with disabilities experience self-determination in their lives. This study employed a grounded theory approach involving 10 undergraduate students with cerebral palsy or physical disabilities, in their early 20's, and individual interviews. The experience relating self-determination of the participants seemed to start with "wanting to do things at their will as they grow up". The participants reported experiencing "yearning to attain self-actualization overcoming disabilities" in the context of "disability-related social limitation", "divided opinions between the participants and their parents", and "limitation in financial and psychological resources". The emerging strategies to attain self-actualization included "active coping", "avoiding confrontation", and "conditional acceptance". Intervening conditions to formation of the strategies included ”challenging spirits towards prejudice about disability", "autonomous tendencies", "taking the most of social support" and "parenting attitudes of their parents". In the process of seeking to attain self-actualization, these participants experienced "self-maturation" and "the sense of guilt towards their parents". The findings emerged from the study was that there are three stages in the process young people went through in self-determination. The stages consist of "perceiving their needs and obstacles for self-determination", "problem solving", and "perceiving their growth". In addition, four self-determination patterns are derived from this data: "breaking through", "multi-strategic", "moderate", and "acceptive". This study suggested some theoretical and prctical implications needed to facilitate self-determination of youth with disabilities.
This study was conducted to investigate experiences, convergent responses and expected negative impacts of verbal abuse of 253 paramedic students when they were doing clinical training practice. The results were as follows. First, 34%(86 people) experienced verbal abuse, the most frequently verbal abuse was done by Patients and Patient's family. Second, the most frequently contents of verbal abuse by Patient and Patient's family, Paramedic, Doctor and Nurse was 'Talking down or rude talk to me'. Third, the most frequently emotional responses of the students was 'Angry' and coping was 'Tolerate'. Fourth, the most frequently expected negative impacts was 'Practice productivity will be compromised'. Fifth, when experiencing verbal abuse by Paramedic was correlated with emotional responses(r=.458 p=.000), emotional responses was correlated with stress and expected negative impacts(r=.553 p=.000, r=.540 p=.000). In conclusion, it will be necessary to provide preventive education on verbal abuse before clinical training practice and to take active measures that have been protocolized.
The passive auxiliary feedwater system (PAFS) is one of the advanced safety features adopted in the APR+, which is intended to completely replace the conventional active auxiliary feedwater system. With an aim of validating the cooling and operational performance of PAFS, an experimental program is in progress at KAERI, which is composed of two kinds of tests; the separate effect test and the integral effect test. The separate effect test, PASCAL ($\underline{P}$AF$\underline{S}$$\underline{C}$ondensing Heat Removal $\underline{A}$ssessment $\underline{L}$oop), is being performed to experimentally investigate the condensation heat transfer and natural convection phenomena in PAFS. A single, nearly-horizontal U-tube, whose dimensions are the same as the prototypic U-tube of the APR+ PAFS, is simulated in the PASCAL test. The PASCAL experimental result showed that the present design of PAFS satisfied the heat removal requirement for cooling down the reactor core during the anticipated accident transients. The integral effect test is in progress to confirm the operational performance of PAFS, coupled with the reactor coolant systems using the ATLAS facility. As the first integral effect test, an FLB (feedwater line break) accident was simulated for the APR+. From the integral effect test result, it could be concluded that the APR+ has the capability of coping with the hypothetical FLB accident by adopting PAFS and proper set-points of its operation.
This study aimed to provide help to seeking a preventive intervention plan for lowering employment stress of university in social welfare students and improving quality of life by examining how resilience work between employment stress and quality of their life. This study investigated by carrying out purposive sampling final targeting 118 senior students majoring in social welfare at K university located in Gyeonggi-do. The Study results found that employment stress exerts a significant influence on the quality of life of university in social welfare students, and resilience has a moderating effect between employment stress and quality of life. Based on the results of this study, this study showed applicability of resilience as an internal coping resource for university students, and suggested an active intervention plan for lowering employment stress and improving quality of life.
The relationship of maternal separation anxiety, availability of support system and child gender to initial preschool adjustment was examined. Data were collected on 72 middle-class Korean children(35 boys, 37 girls) between the ages of 31 months and 60 months who were entering preschool. Subjects were from intact families, all with non-working mothers. Mothers completed the Maternal Separation Anxiety Scale(MSAS) and indicated the number of extended family members in the home as an index of social support. Classroom teachers completed the Preschool Behavior Questionnaire (PBQ) for each child after the first 2 weeks and again after 6 weeks of school. Each child was observed by the research team during the first 2 weeks of school and again after the 6th-week using the Child Observation System (COS). Applying the COS observed behavior was classified as being in the dependent, neutral, or active mode. All instruments were culturally relevant as validated by Korean experts. Maternal Separation Anxiety was a significant predictor for girls only, accounting for 11% of initial COS variance (p=<.05). In contrast, social support was a significant predictor for boys only, accounting for 28% of initial PBQ variance when entered after MSAS(p=.005). A significant difference between initial and 6th-week adjustment was obtained in the expected direction on the COS with behavior improving with time (t=-4.06, p=.001). Although a significant difference between initial and 6th-week PBQ adjustment was also obtained (t=-3.63, p=.001), it was not in the direction expected, problematic behavior were found to increase with time. Cultural and developmental factors help explain the findings. Given the patrilineal social system in Korea, boys are highly preferred over girls. Thus the at-home support system, comprised primarily of grandparents, may have a significant influence on school adjustment particularly of first-born sons. In contrast, since girls are viewed as fragile and vulnerable, mothers may express greater separation anxiety about girls. Finally, as would be expected, older children may be able to develop coping skills more readily than younger ones, as child adjustment on the COS significanlty improved over the 6-week period.
The purpose of this article was to propose improvement of countermeasure for missing person cases. While current related other studies examined practice of the countermeasure from inner viewpoint of police authorities itself, this study focused on and analyzed concern or criticism expressed through mass media, outside of the authorities. For this purpose, we analyzed newspaper articles dealing with missing person issued during past 5 years with qualitative data analysis software. The analysis revealed that civil community demands immediacy of coping with missing, phased expertise, systemicity of the countermeasure, improvement of relating policy, and active liaison with community. According to the needs, we proposed advancing risk assessment procedure, enlarging dedicated team for missing case, improving profiling-input system, adding duty for family of missing person, and enhancing of function of control tower.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate a role of self-compassion in conflict resolution strategies among dating couples. Further, we examined conflict resolution strategies as mechanisms to explain in the relationship between self-compassion and relationship satisfaction. Method: Two hundred forty two dating couples were recruited. Actor and Partner Independence Model(APIM) was used to examine actor and partner effects of self-compassion on relationship satisfaction as well as conflict resolution strategies. The total of 4 APIMs, two positive conflict resolution strategies(i.e., positive emotional reactions, active coping) and two negative conflict resolution strategies(i.e., negative emotional reactions and hostility, avoidance) were analyzed. Positive conflict resolution strategies had only actor effect in the link between self-compassion and relationship satisfaction. That is, self-compassionate men and women were more likely to use positive conflict resolution strategies and, in turn, led to their higher relationship satisfaction. Both actor and partner effects were found in the negative conflict resolution strategy models. In terms of actor effect self-compassionate men and women were less likely to use negative conflict resolution strategies and that, in turn, led to their higher relationship satisfaction. In terms of partner effects we found that women's negative emotional reactions and hostility mediated the link between women's self-compassion and their male partners' relationship satisfaction. Men's avoidance mediated the link between men's self-compassion and their female partners' relationship satisfaction.
