ZnO nanostructures were grown on an Au seed layer by a hydrothermal method. The Au seed layer was deposited by ion sputter on a Si (100) substrate, and then the ZnO nanostructures were grown with different precursor concentrations ranging from 0.01 M to 0.3M at $150^{\circ}C$ and different growth temperatures ranging from $100^{\circ}C$ to $250^{\circ}C$ with 0.3 M of precursor concentration. FE-SEM (field-emission scanning electron microscopy), XRD (X-ray diffraction), and PL (photoluminescence) were carried out to investigate the structural and optical properties of the ZnO nanostructures. The different morphologies are shown with different growth conditions by FE-SEM images. The density of the ZnO nanostructures changed significantly as the growth conditions changed. The density increased as the precursor concentration increased. The ZnO nanostructures are barely grown at $100^{\circ}C$ and the ZnO nanostructure grown at $150^{\circ}C$ has the highest density. The XRD pattern shows the ZnO (100), ZnO (002), ZnO (101) peaks, which indicated the ZnO structure has a wurtzite structure. The higher intensity and lower FWHM (full width at half maximum) of the ZnO peaks were observed at a growth temperature of $150^{\circ}C$, which indicated higher crystal quality. A near band edge emission (NBE) and a deep level emission (DLE) were observed at the PL spectra and the intensity of the DLE increased as the density of the ZnO nanostructures increased.

The effects of ZnO coating on the sensing properties of CNT:ZnO based gas sensors were studied for $H_2S$ gas. The nano ZnO sensing materials were grown by hydrothermal reaction method. CNT:ZnO was prepared by ball-mill method. The mole range of nano ZnO coating on CNT surface was from 0 to 10%. The CNT:ZnO gas sensors were fabricated by a screen printing method on alumina substrates. The structural and morphological properties of the CNT:ZnO sensing materials were investigated by XRD, EDS, SEM and TEM. The XRD patterns showed that CNT:ZnO powders with hexagonal structure were grown with (002) dominant peak. The diameter of CNT from TEM was about 28 nm.
In this study, we fabricated and evaluated the performance of film speaker using PVDF/ZnO NP composite structure. PVDF piezoelectric films were fabricated and characterized by XRD and SEM. ZnO nanopillars were prepared by hydrothermal synthesis on prepared PVDF piezoelectric films. We analyzed and tested the acoustic signal characteristics of the piezoelectric film. In order to fabricate an acoustic structure with a wide frequency range from low to high frequency, we have fabricated various types of film speakers and investigated the frequency characteristics. As a result, the fundamental piezoelectric properties of PVDF show that the piezoelectric constant due to ZnO NP increases. And the overall acoustic signal level is also increased by 10% or more. We investigated frequency generation from 500 Hz to 10 KHz using different sizes with PVDF/ZnO NP composite film speaker.
Cobalt-, zinc-, and nickel-zinc-substituted nano-size manganese ferrite powders, $MnFe_2O_4$, $Mn_{0.8}Co_{0.2}Fe_2O_4$, $Mn_{0.8}Zn_{0.2}Fe_2O_4$ and $Mn_{0.8}Ni_{0.1}Zn_{0.1}Fe_2O_4$, were fabricated using a sol-gel method, and their crystallographic and magnetic properties were subsequently studied. The $MnFe_2O_4$ ferrite powder annealed at temperatures above 523 K exhibited a spinel structure, and the particle size increased as the annealing temperature increased. All ferrites annealed at 773 K showed a single spinel structure, and the lattice constants and particle size decreased with the substitution of Co, Zn, and Ni-Zn. The $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectrum of the $MnFe_2O_4$ ferrite powder annealed at 523 K only showed a doublet due to its superparamagnetic phase, and the $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectra of the $MnFe_2O_4$, $Mn_{0.8}Co_{0.2}Fe_2O_4$, and $Mn_{0.8}Zn_{0.2}Fe_2O_4$ ferrite powders annealed at 773 K could be fitted as the superposition of two Zeeman sextets due to the tetrahedral and octahedral sites of the $Fe^{3+}$ ions. However, the $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectrum of the $Mn_{0.8}Ni_{0.1}Zn_{0.1}Fe_2O_4$ ferrite powder annealed at 773 K consisted of two Zeeman sextets and one quadrupole doublet due to its ferrimagnetic and paramagnetic behavior. The area ratio of the $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectra could be used to determine the cation distribution equation, and we also explained the variation in the $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ parameters by using this cation distribution equation, the superexchange interaction and the particle size. Relative to pure $MnFe_2O_4$, the saturation magnetizations and coercivities were larger in $Mn_{0.8}Co_{0.2}Fe_2O_4$ and smaller in $Mn_{0.8}Zn_{0.2}Fe_2O_4$, and $Mn_{0.8}Ni_{0.1}Zn_{0.1}Fe_2O_4$. These variations could be explained using the site distribution equations, particle sizes and magnetic moments of the substituted ions.

The nano and micro-sized $ZnGa_2O_4$ phosphor were prepared by precipitation method and solid-state method. The luminescence, formation process and structure of phosphor powders were investigated by means of XRD, SEM and PL. The result of XRD analysis showed that $ZnGa_2O_4$ spinel structure was formed at as-prepared in the case of precipitation method. However, micro-sized phosphor was required high heating treatment to have a satisfactory spinel structure. The CL intensity of nano-sized phosphor was about 4-fold higher than that of micro-sized phosphor. The emission spectra of all $ZnGa_2O_4$ phosphor show a self activated blue emission band at around 420 nm in the wide range of 300~600 nm.

The $Mg_xZn_{1-x}O$ thin films with the various content ratio ranging from 0 to 0.4 were prepared by sol-gel spincoating method. To investigate the effects of content ratio on the structural and optical properties of the $Mg_xZn_{1-x}O$ thin films, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and photoluminescence (PL) were carried out. With increase in the content ratio, the grain size of the $Mg_xZn_{1-x}O$ thin films was increased, however, at the content ratio above 0.2, MgO particles with cubic structure were formed on the surface of the $Mg_xZn_{1-x}O$ thin films, indicating that the Mg content exceeded its solubility limit in the thin films. The residual stress of the $Mg_xZn_{1-x}O$ thin films is increased with increase in the Mg mole fraction. In the PL investigations, the bandgap and the activation energy of the $Mg_xZn_{1-x}O$ thin films was increased with the Mg mole fraction.
Nano core shell structures of $TiO_2$ particles coated on surface of ZnO nanoparticles were prepared by the polymerized complex and sol-gel method. The average particle size of ZnO by the polymerized complex method showed 100 nm and the average particle size of $TiO_2$ by the sol-gel method showed below 10 nm. The average particle size of $ZnO@TiO_2$ nano core shell struture represented about 150 nm. The agglomeration between the ZnO particles using the polymerized complex method was highly controlled by the uniform absorption of $TiO_2$ colloid on the spherical ZnO surfaces. The driving force of heterogeneous bonding between ZnO and $TiO_2$ was induced by the Coulomb force. The ZnO and $TiO_2$ particles electrified with + and - charges, respectively, resulted in strong bonding by the difference of iso-electric point (IEP) when they laid neutrality pH area, depending on the heterogeneous surface electron electrified by the different zeta potential on the pH values.

Fluorine, the radius of which is close to that of oxygen, could be an appropriate anion doping candidate. A lower lattice distortion could be expected for F doping, compared with Al, Ga, and In doping. F-doped ZnO (FZO) and undoped ZnO nanorods were grown onto glass substrate by the hydrothemal method. The doping level in the solution, designated by F/Zn atomic ratio of was varied from 0.0 to 10.0 in 2.0 steps. To investigate the effects of the structure and optical properties of FZO nanorods were investigated using X-ray diffraction, UV-visible spectroscopy and photoluminescence (PL). For the PL spectra, the maximum peak position of NBE moves to higher energy, from 0 to 4 at.%. As the doping concentration increases, the maximum peak position of NBE gradually moves to lover energy, from 4 to 10 at.%.

ZnO nanorods have been deposited on ITO glass by electrodeposition method. The optimization of two process parameters (precursor concentration and current) has been studied in order to control the orientation, morphology, and optical property of the ZnO nanorods. The structural and optical properties of ZnO nanorods were systematically investigated by using field-emission scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometer, and photoluminescence. Commonly, the results show that ZnO nanorods with a hexagonal form and wurtzite crystal structure have a c-axis orientation and higher intensity for the ZnO (002) diffraction peaks. Both high precursor concentration and high electrodeposition current cause the increase in nanorods diameter and coverage ratio. ZnO nanorods show a strong UV (3.28 eV) and a weak visible (1.9 ~ 2.4 eV) bands.

To investigate the dependences of the absorption spectrum and electronic structure properties on the ZnO nano-particle size, ZnO nanocrystals were synthesized by a sol-gel method. The absorption onset peak exhibits a systematic blue-shift with decreasing particle size due to the quantum confinement effect, as well as, with decreasing $Zn^{2+}$ concentration. The increase of particle size is mainly controlled by coarsening and aggregation step during the nucleation and growth of ZnO nano-particles. The onset absorption spectrum of ZnO colloids changes from 310 to 355 nm as $Zn^{2+}$ concentration increases from 0.01 to 0.1 mole. The average particle size as a function of aging- time can be determined from the absorption spectra. The freshly prepared nanocrystal size was about 2.8nm.
