The purpose of this study is to explore the direction of home economics education and provide specific implications to help adolescents develop relationship competency. For this purpose, the contents of Korea's character education and UK's relationships education curriculum were analyzed, and the results are as follows. Character education in Korea focused on character education values such as responsibility, respect, consideration, and communication throughout the public education system. These contents were largely consistent with the learning content elements for cultivating relationship-competency in home economics education. UK's relationships education at the primary and secondary levels were similar to that of home economics education in middle school in Korea in its goals and learning contents for understanding and maintaining healthy relationships. However, differences existed in areas of safe relationships, setting boundaries with others, comprehensiveness of sex education content, rights to refuse sex education, and education content based on equal rights. Based on these results, this study concludes that the concept of education on relationships needs to be defined, the composition of educational content should be systematically developed, and further research on the development of teaching and learning methods and learning programs that can elicit and internalize students' attitudes and changes is needed. In addition, insights were gained regarding additional educational contents and considerations to take into account.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of emotion regulation on life satisfaction of adolescents on the mediating effect of interpersonal competence. The results of the study are: (1) emotion regulation was found a key factor affecting the life satisfaction of adolescents, (2) their emotion regulation affects interpersonal competence, (3) interpersonal competence affects life satisfaction, (4) interpersonal competence was proved to have a mediating effect between the effects of emotion regulation and life satisfaction. The implications and limitations are reviewed, as are the suggestions for future research.
The purpose of this study was to identify the factors of ICT literacy in the primary school students in South Korea and to examine the gender and city size difference on the factor of ICT literacy. To accomplish this goal, we have analyzed the data of Korea Youth Competency Measurement and International Comparative Study I: ICCS 2016 which is nationally collected from the primary school students, currently on the 5 ~ 6th grades in South Korea. 1,188 samples were used in the study excluding missing samples. The participants were 584 5th grad and 604 6th grad students, 620 males (52.2%) and 568 females (47.8%). The mean age was 13.49 years (SD=.52). The result of the study reveals the four factors of ICT literacy through cross-validating exploratory factor analysis and confirmative factor analysis; pleasure of using ICT, perceived usefulness of using ICT, learning ability with using ICT, and operating ability of ICT. This study found that the leaner differ in gender on learning ability with using ICT and pleasure of using ICT. The female students were significantly larger than male students on learning ability with using ICT. However, the male students were significantly larger than male students on pleasure of using ICT. This study found that the leaner differ in city size on the factors of ICT literacy excluding pleasure of using ICT. The students living in the big size city were significantly larger than the students living in the middle and small. That is, over all, female students were more learning with ICT, male students were more interesting about ICT, and the students living in the big size city were more ICT use for learning. Based on the results, some strategies were suggested on the proper use of the factors of ICT in education.
Entrepreneurship works as a driving force in socio-economic innovation, the leading role in job creation and economic development. As the importance of entrepreneurship is increased, research on entrepreneurship training methods based on the capability model is vitalized in order to effectively develop entrepreneurship in the EU and OECD. In Korea, however, the research on entrepreneurship capability is nearly not proceeding while the outcome of entrepreneurship training is insufficient. The research, therefore, invented the entrepreneurship training model at K university after analyzing cases of entrepreneurship training from inside and outside of the country followed up through the theoretical consideration of entrepreneurship capability and collecting suggestions from experts. The training model rejects the existing economics-based theory education, focuses on the development of entrepreneurship capability, and suggests an educational process considering students' developing stage of entrepreneurship capabilities.

The purpose of this study is to develop and implement cooperative consumption education programs using design thinking in middle school home economics education classes to understand the impact on students' cooperative problem solving competency. Accordingly, a cooperative consumption education program based on design thinking was developed according to the ADDIE model, and the evaluation was conducted on a total of 25 students. The results of the study were as follows. First, based on prior research, we developed a consumption education program based on D. school's design thinking process under the theme of 'Creating a Shared School' for the practice of cooperative consumption. As a result of expert validity verification of the teaching/learning course plan and workbook for the eight sessions, the average question was 4.72 (out of 5 points) and the average CVI was 0.93, indicating that the content validity and field suitability were excellent. Second, to summarize the results achieved from the implementation of the cooperative consumption education program, the pre-/post-test using the revised and supplemented cooperative problem-solving competency tool, and the open-ended survey, It was confirmed that the developed program had a significant effect on improving not only the students' knowledge and perceived necessity for cooperative consumption along with the awareness of practice, but also the cooperative problem-solving competency. As a follow-up study, we propose to expand the research to a wider audience, and to further conduct research and develop programs applied with design thinking in home economics curriculum and in consumer competency development. This study confirmed that cooperative consumption education programs using design thinking are effective in improving youth's cooperative problem-solving competency and is meaningful in that they developed consumption education programs under the theme of 'cooperative consumption' in response to changing consumer education needs.
This study was conducted with the purpose of deriving a revitalization plan by analyzing the factors influencing the characteristics and perception of self-employment and self-employment selection of young people. To this end, discussions on self-employment and the size of workers were reviewed, and the characteristics, determinants, and difficulties of self-employment youth were analyzed based on data from a survey of youth in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. The support plan proposed through the analysis should first strengthen the program so that the government, local governments, and schools can all gain experience in the practice of developing ideas, producing, and selling based on aptitude and competency to solve youth employment problems. Next, compared to support for technology-based start-ups, there are no suitable programs in the fields of knowledge, manufacturing, and distribution, and there is almost no support for freelancers in which the majority of young people are engaged. Therefore, it is necessary to diversify support projects so that the diversity of young people can be expressed in self-employment. Finally, it was found that entrepreneurship had an important influence on self-employment. However, Korean teenagers do not know what entrepreneurship is and have no experience in education, so they should focus on cultivating entrepreneurship in the regular curriculum and establishing a cultural foundation to foster young leaders with creative ideas and execution.
What are the implications for us through the discussion on the effect of Germany's dual system of vocational education on the youth unemployment rate? You can find out what kind of evaluation Germany is receiving on the dual system vocational education system implemented based on the 'Vocational Education and Training Act' (Berufsbildungsgesetz), and the specific system establishment form for the industry-academic-government cooperation system. It was possible to present the crises and problems of these systems. Responsibility for the dual system of vocational education in Germany rests with the national and state ministries of education, and private enterprises and chambers of commerce are responsible for business practices. Practical work in a company is conducted through skill-oriented education, and in vocational schools, competency-oriented theoretical education is received. In addition, the necessity and demand for digital vocational and education training in accordance with German Idustrie 4.0 and higher vocational education degree acquisition through dual-degree courses were identified. It can be seen that the youth unemployment rate is the lowest in Europe due to the successful development and utilization of human resources to improve the competitiveness of companies, such as dual vocational education and training (VET) at all levels, higher vocational education at universities, and continuing vocational education programs. Vocational education in Korea will also be able to improve the unemployment rate by establishing a system that allows schools and businesses to conduct vocational education and training simultaneously. In particular, it was possible to judge the necessity of 'close consultation between labor, management, and government', which we consider the most important and should lead to in-depth discussion and cooperation for dual education between vocational schools and companies.
This article critically examines the backgrounds and meanings of National Competency Standards (NCS) that is employed by Korean colleges for managing performance-based, competency-based curriculum. Findings are as follows: 1) the NCS-based curriculum was primarily adopted to enhance students' business competency for their successes in a competitive job market. 2) NCS is questioned its efficacy to resolve Korean employment issues in a serious economic structure in which a growing number of jobless youth and aged employees and education discrimination are involved. 3) NCS, with its emphasis on the Tyler Rationale and principles of scientific curriculum development, has many criticisms due to its technical approaches to educational processes and needs to be replaced with an alternative paradigm. 4) This article suggests that administrators, policy makers, and educators seek ways to resolve NCS issues considering contextual features of Korean job market and rethinking NCS ideology in the education process. A need for curriculum reconceptualisation is discussed.
