The participants of this study were four elementary school teachers. The data was collected through semi-constructed and in-depth interview. The results of the research are as follows: First, the individual factors that influenced participants to choose a website were teacher's thinking about appropriate science teaching and learning methods and teacher's lack of ability to prepare science lessons. Second, the surroundings factors were the image of the teachers using the website, the formation of consensus, belonging to the peer teachers, and students' preferences and interests. Third, participants chose a website where they could provide ideas for science lessons that are not available in textbooks and instructional materials for all subjects, and see stories and tips related to teaching career. In addition, the website was selected according to whether the developer of science instructional materials was a teacher, whether the materials uploaded on the website were up-to-date, and whether the teachers can learn by themselves to prepare for the science class. Fourth, participants considered the design and interactivity of the website and chose a website that is easy to search for information. Finally, we suggested the implications for building the websites that support science teaching and learning.

  • As attention to the Internet from both companies and individuals is rapidly on the increase, hundreds of new websites are opening in a single day. Along with such a high attention to the Internet, to set up an effective website needs efficient evaluation and reliable evaluation criterions for the website. The existing homepage contests and evaluation models are limited to certain websites in a special field or to the systemic side and to the contents, which in fact weakened the development of detailed evaluation sections and items possibly measured. This study is designed to integrate and seek out methods and success factors that should be considered when a website is built up, discovering evaluation criterions and making evaluation models objectively possible to be measured. The study focused on investigation into a new measurement standard and model by considering the previous studies, in order to suggest the followings: Centering the 7 top evaluation sections by type of each website such as (1) Service, (2) Mechanism, (3) Structure & Navigation, (4) Usability, (5) Contents (6) Community, (7) Communication, the study suggests an objective and reasonable website evaluation model on a basis of common factors considered in an integral and optimum view.

  • This research is an empirical investigation into the dimensions determining the website quality of domestic online shopping malls. A research model that has been formed to find the website quality dimensions is based on DeLone and McLean's information system success model that we adapted to fit the B2C electronic commerce environment by incorporating existing research on IS service quality and website quality. The model incorporates three quality dimensions including the information quality, system quality and service quality, and an attempt was made to empirically examine the relationship between variables of these dimensions and the revisit intent. The results of the study revealed that five quality-related variables were found to importantly contribute to the user's intent to revisit a site : the information accuracy and relevancy, system reliability, ease of use, and on-line support. The paper concludes that the three quality dimensions can serve as a useful framework to evaluate the quality of online shopping mall websites in an attempt to improve the website revisit rate.

  • Efforts were made to improve the efficiency of college education through the use of information technology. This paper investigates student perceptions of a lecture club provided on a social networking website. For the empirical study, the instructor ran a lecture club for two consecutive semesters on Cyworld (www.cyworld.co.kr), a popular website among Korean youth. The research subjects were students enrolled in a Popular Culture & Fashion class. A questionnaire was distributed on the last day of the lectures. After excluding students with perfunctory responses and those who did not sign up for the community website, a total number of 297 questionnaires were used for analysis. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis, one-way ANOVA analysis, Duncan test, and t-test were carried out, with the SPSS for Windows 12.0 being used for statistical analysis. The findings show that most students subscribed to the website and responded with a favorable attitude that the lecture club was helpful.

  • HoQ (House of Quality) provides an effective tool not only to arrange and evaluate VoC (Voice of Customers) and VoE (Voice of Engineers), but also to link and combine VoC and VoE, thereby presenting explicit directions for quality improvement. There have been, however, few researches on the HoQ framework in the IT industry. The case study discussed here serves an illustration of the applicability and usefulness of the HoQ approach to website quality improvement. The proposed HoQ framework shows great potentials since customers needs are explicitly considered in the framework, and it helps website administrators develop better web services by providing guidelines for reengineering the website operations.

Social computing is driving a dramatic evolution of the Web these days, and a number of users are increasing every day. But many website designers are just focusing on functional aspects of website. Also, there are few studies regarding the social computing website's emotional design. Proper designs of social computing websites could be designed through investigating the websites design factors preferred by users. Empirical study was conducted in order to investigate websites design factors preferred by users. Website design and user emotion of social computing websites were measured by the questionnaire and 254 people participated. Also, Website design and user emotion of non-social computing websites were measured by same participants, and then comparing results each other. Five design factors and eight emotion factors were derived, and only four out of design factors and three out of emotion factors were found as having significant effects on the satisfaction of social computing website.
