  • This study evaluated designs via the consumers' function and design preferences survey for using product design images, virtual avatar wearing images and product explanations that identified consumers' function and design preferences for knee protection pads as well as to develop movement assistive knee pad designs. We developed Design A for men and Design B for women. For Design A, the front of the knee supports muscles and alleviates pain with a hole. Mesh material with good ventilation was applied to enhance wearing comfort. The color was achromatic for a modern style, and the hook fastener and loops enabled easy wear and removal of the pad while controlling size and pressure strength. For Design B, taping details seamlessly support muscles in the knee area with fabrics less than 0.1 cm thick and with long sleeves in the diverse sizes. The design's satisfaction assessment showed that potential consumers were satisfied with Design A and Design B for overall design and functional features. Over 77% wanted to use/wear and purchase designs; in addition, over 78% expected it would help with walking and relieve knee pain. The results can be helpful for designers when deciding designs for manufacturing and commercializing kneepad products.

The data was collected through a questionnaire on purchasing and wearing practices of footwear, and overall satisfaction with the shoes for males. The questionnaire survey was conducted on 237 male adults in the Cheongju area. Most of the respondents were commuting by their own cars and the average walking time in their shoes was five minutes per day. The main reasons for buying new footwear were to replace the worn out footwear or to adapt the color and design coordination with other apparel. Males generally bought footwear from sports brand retailers and individual footwear stores. The criteria for purchasing in order of considered were size, design, price, comfort, and style coordination. During the spring, autumn and winter seasons, the footwear of first choice was ordinary shoes, followed by exercise shoes, but during the summer season they wore sandals next to the ordinary shoes. Regarding the form of the shoes, they preferred classic models with round front and strings. They were satisfied with the design, color and size of the shoes, but the price, quality and durability of the material were considered to be unsatisfactory.

  • This paper aims to examine the status of sizing specifications for disposable sanitary pads on the market and to offer information on product design that reflect the requests of consumer by gathering opinion through the practical experience of consumers. Seventy-six varieties of sanitary pads on market are measured and the evaluations of wearing comfort were investigated by the questionnaire and interview for sixty three varieties of sanitary pads. As a result, they were classified into five sizes related with length but vaguely related with thickness and width. Thickness is distinguished by the compressibility that is marked as slim or ultra slim by the same brand. However, there is no sizing consistency for all products. The result shows that there is some confusion for consumers to choose desired sizes, In addition, the perception of wearing is categorized into four factors that are product performance, size and fit, wearing feeling and margin of action, and adhesive property and wrapping. The manufacturing specifications for the sanitary pads on domestic market, the requests of consumers for sanitary pad design modifications, and proposals for follow-up studies were figured out through this research.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide information on how to improve the comfort and fit of womens swimsuits through analysis of the present wearing conditions and users complaints. In order to compile the information about dissatisfaction with the appropriateness of the fit of breast cap for swimsuits, a questionnaire was administered to 364 females (over 20 years old under 60 years old). The contents of the questionnaire consisted of questions such as the reasons for selecting to wear breast cap for swimsuits or not, size of brassiere and swimsuits, dissatisfaction with material, dissatisfaction with function of breast cap. The collected data were analyzed using the descriptive statistics value of frequencies and percentile value, mean, and so on by means of the SPSS WIN.10.0 program. The differences among age groups, body type groups by rohrer index, cup size and so on were compared using the chi-square test. Results of the survey responses about swimsuits breast caps: Most women have worn swimsuits with caps. According to the results, women who are older or overweight, or have larger breasts, or breasts which sag, as well as those who have had the experience of giving birth responded that they feel uncomfortable because of the slope of their breasts. • The purpose of this study was to investigate physiological responses such as rectal temperature, skin temperature, micro climate, sweat rate and subjective sensations using cold protective clothing with five different clo value. The clo value was measured by thermal manikin in windless condition. Healthy five 20's males volunteered as subjects for wearing trial experiment. The climate chamber was controlled at $50^{\circ}C$, 65% RH. The experiment consisted of repeated exercise and recovery periods. We found that the higher clo value has, the higher mean skin temperature, micro climate and sweat rate show. They felt warm and wet with higher insulation clothing. Thermal comfort increased in the last recovery period after exercise. There was significant difference between five cold protective clothing. In correlation analysis of clo value, it showed that correlation coefficient(r) values were more than 0.8. Therefore, in terms of clothing insulation, we found that correlation between thermal manikin experiment and wearing trial experiment was high. Clothing insulation could be variable according to many factors such as body movement, covering area, clothing gap, layering and design. Considering the body movement, we thought that insulation measurement need to carry out both thermal manikin experiment and wearing trial experiment.

  • We studied on the development of clothing pressure measurement system for wear comfort of foundations(girdle, brassiere, all-in-one). Measurements of clothing pressure were made on subjects wearing girdles, brassieres, all-in-ones of several type(material, size) using by CPMS(clothing pressure measurement system: Tech-Storm. Co). Wearing experiments have been carried out using nine women in the twenties and six women in the forties. The results obtained are as follows: 1. The clothing pressure applied by girdle was higher in the hard type than the soft type by $5-10gf/cm^2$, also recorded a high clothing pressure at points of waist band line and thigh lateral. 2. Clothing pressure of brassiere with wire was high at the point of underbust line and shoulder strap. Pressure for 40s showed higher than 20s by $6-7gf/cm^2$. 3. The pressures of abdominal part applied by both of girdle and all-in-one were much greater than those of girdle or all-in-one. 4. We demonstrated the adaptability and conformity of the CPMS by inquiring into the clothing pressure of various foundations.

Across all age groups, they prefer knit wear pattern with no figures, while they consider its design and color as important factors in purchasing F/W knit wear. 2. As for the wearing sensations of F/W knitwear of three age groups, there are not significant differences in other factors except a factor of 'jacket length'. 3. As for the fitting sensation about F/W knit wear, consumers with 'thin' somatotype feel high comfort in the factor of 'girth', while consumers with standard somatotype feel high satisfaction in the factor of 'length'.

  • Suitability for the human body, freedom to move and thermal insulation are important design considerations in military clothing. This study investigates the performance and wearer-satisfaction of the functional inner winter uniform currently used in Korea; it is hoped that our data can inform the development of a future version. Interviews were conducted, in which the participants suggested various improvements. The uniforms were mainly worn for guard duty or as daily attire in cold weather. The participants chose how many layers to wear according to the current situation, rather than sticking to the layering recommended in the manual. Layering choices did not significantly affect combat efficiency but were found to affect wearers' comfort. Wearers' satisfaction was found to depend on the convenience of the clothing, whether it was in the appropriate size, freedom to move and thermal insulation. Also, this study suggests a problem with the current size system, as the analysis of size distribution, across all sizes, the range of current production is insufficient to cover the demand.
