  • The purpose of this study is to suggest basic data and the direction for revising the curricula of the departments of Home Economics Education toward developmental and efficient ones. The current 23 curricula of all the department of Home Economics Education in Korea were analyzed and compared with the course of the subject “Practical Arts”included in the 5th Study Course of Secondary School to get the following results. 1) Only three subjects are commonly established in all the colleges, and they are Nutrition(obligatory in 23 colleges), Home Economics (obligatory in 21, optional in 2) and Housing (obligatory in 21, optional in 2). 2) Some subjects have various names differing with colleges, though the contents being the same, 8 subjects are established under more than 7 titles. 3) Principles of Home Economics and Home Education, which are obligatory subjects for the majors in Home Economics Education, are established with far less number of scores than the instructions given from the specialists. 4) Subjects over-subdivided beyond necessity are sometimes established, and some curricula are showing the lack of balance in distributing scores among disciplines after concentrating on a particular discipline. 5) Too few subjects are established entirely for experiment and exercise. 6) There is almost no subject related with the technics for domestic life, vocation and career which are included in the Secondary School Course.

  • Restricted by finite battery energy, traditional wireless sensor networks (WSNs) can only maintain for a limited period of time, resulting in serious performance bottleneck in long-term deployment of WSN. Fortunately, the advancement in the wireless energy transfer technology provides a potential to free WSNs from limited energy supply and remain perpetual operational. A mobile charger called wireless charging vehicle (WCV) is employed to periodically charge each sensor node and keep its energy level above the minimum threshold. Aiming at maximizing the ratio of the WCV's vocation time over the cycle time as well as guaranteeing the perpetual operation of networks, we propose a feasible and optimal solution to this issue within the context of a real-time large-scale deployed WSN. First, we develop two different types of charging cycles: initialization cycles and renewable cycles and give relevant algorithms to construct these two cycles for each sensor node. We then formulate the optimization problem into an optimal construction algorithm and prove its correctness through theoretical analysis. Finally, we conduct extensive simulations to demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed algorithms.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the performance level of functional independence of the stroke patient. Methods : In order to find out the functional independence of stroke patient, 160 peoples, 80 peoples in a large city and 80 peoples in small-to-medium sized city, were questioned. Result : The results of this study were as follows: 1. Functional independence level due to social factor; The comparison of functional independence level between two groups showed significant difference in educational level, religion, family member, vocation, and medical fees(P<.05). However, the two groups did not show significant difference in spouse. 2. Functional independence level due to environment factor; The comparison of functional independence level between two groups showed significant difference in place of residence and residental environment(P<.05). However, each group did not show significant difference. Conclusion : These results suggest that realization of stable housing, educational level, various physical activities, and diversified family members is essential. Also, stable environment and social satisfaction are needed to maintain and improve the health of patient.

  • Purpose: This study is aimed at preparing basic data to increase professionalism in nursing and effective counter-strategies against future infectious diseases. For that purpose, this study investigated the experiences of nurses in a general hospital with an 800-bed size, temporarily closed after a confirmed case of COVID-19. Methods: This study was a qualitative study using individual in-depth interviews, and data were collected from 10 nurses in a university hospital temporarily closed from May 1 to June 13, 2020. Results: As a result of this study, the subjects were classified into 'COVID-19 and nursing', 'nursing work and vocation' and 'life changed with COVID-19'. Conclusion: In conclusion, there is a need for education that nurtures the ability of nurses to screen patients with infectious diseases well and to skillfully wear and remove protective clothing. In addition, in order to cultivate the expertise of nurses and respond efficiently to infectious diseases, a separate compensation, such as a risk allowance, is required along with the establishment of an infrastructure that fully supports personnel and supplies. A mental health program to relieve stress is also required.

  • This study is used to understand the characteristics of home economics teachers that could to help develop personal development in home economics teacher and home economics education. The questionnaire survey was conducted on 150 home economics teachers who belong to either the home economics teachers' study association or Korean home economics education essociation. The survey was processed with frequency analysis, standard deviations, factor analysis, independent sample t-test, and reliability analysis using SPSS 12.0 depending on the contents of the research. The study results are as follows. First, for home economics teachers' conscious teaching, they build their own identities as experts, and have a vocation and sense of duty for their job. The culture of research and investigation community to study education and to maintain collaborative relationships with teachers of home economics teachers' associations has evolved. Second, home economics teachers have the ability to analyze and manage students' demands in order to perform teaching activities, and understand individual student characteristics. They understand new study trends and curriculum, develop sources for class, use appropriate teaching and learning theories, and create students' reflective activities. In addition, they grow their learning ability as specialist and study in self-oriented ways.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to understand nurses' lived experiences of caring for patients with COVID-19. Methods: The phenomenological research method was used. The study participants were 16 Korean nurses who had experiences in caring for patients with COVID-19 in clinical settings. Data was collected using one-on-one in-depth interviews, from June 30 to September 30, 2020. During the interview, the quarantine rules were observed. Results: The study derived four themes clusters and thirty-eight sub themes. Four theme clusters were identified, i.e., 'a repetitive sense of crisis', 'enduring a drastic change,' 'sacrifice of personal life,' and 'pride in nursing'. The nurses' experiences of caring for patients with COVID-19 were an uneasy, unfamiliar, and threatening experiences for an individual, but it is an opportunity for a nursing organization to renew. Accordingly, it was found that nurses faithfully fulfill their individual roles with a vocation and responsibility. Conclusion: The study provides an in-depth understanding of the situational, psychological, and environmental aspects of challenges facing nurses in the pandemic situation. Based on the findings, institutional follow-up measures should be provided to establish support systems for better nursing care. In addition, studies are needed to track nurses' experiences in the prolonged COVID-19 situation.

  • In order to explore the job crafting experience of millennial safety workers, this study conducted a qualitative case research with five safety workers of S Energy from March 26 to September 27, 2021 . As a result of the analysis, task crafting showed 'matching one's strong suit with a given task', 'expanding work knowledge using social network service (SNS)', and 'making changes in job performance methods for preemptive safety management activities'. Also, Cognitive crafting showed 'recognition of social vocation as a safety job', 'recognition of a role to grow as a safety management expert', and 'cognitive changes from means of organizational adaptation to enjoyment and energy of life'. At the same time, in relation crafting, 'establishment of amicable relationships through SNS in non-face-to-face and rapid communicating situations', 'safety management made through with mutual cooperations between business people', and 'reborn as a mutual safety net in business relationships' appeared. These can be used as basic data to accumulate the theoretical basis for job crafting research of millennial safety workers and to improve their job satisfaction. A follow-up study was proposed for safety workers with occupations of various kinds.

  • The aim of this research article is to investigate the life and educational ministry of friars, focusing on the Dominican friars, along with its influence on parish priests and laymen during late middle Ages. The friars' apostolic life and competent teaching ministry greatly contributed to the faith formation of the laity who desperately sought out sacred truth. In particular, the Dominican friars' teaching of orthodox theology and logical argument gave rise to the conversion of some heretics, including Cathars. In addition, their ministry helped parish priests maintain hold on the essence of the church and their apostolic vocation. Finally, the friars' educational ministry played a significant role in enabling the parish priests to take their responsibilities as confessors, teachers, preachers, and healers of souls.
