수광 회로와 윤곽 검출 회로의 분리를 통한 윤곽 검출용 시각칩의 해상도 향상 (Resolution improvement of a CMOS vision chip for edge detection by separating photo-sensing and edge detection circuits)

  • Resolution of an image sensor is very significant parameter to improve. It is hard to improve the resolution of the CMOS vision chip for edge detection based on a biological retina using a resistive network because the vision chip contains additional circuits such as a resistive network and some processing circuits comparing with general image sensors such as CMOS image sensor (CIS). In this paper, we proved the problem of low resolution by separating photo-sensing and signal processing circuits. This type of vision chips occurs a problem of low operation speed because the signal processing circuits should be commonly used in a row of the photo-sensors. The low speed problem of operation was proved by using a reset decoder. A vision chip for edge detection with $128{\times}128$ pixel array has been designed and fabricated by using $0.35{\mu}m$ 2-poly 4-metal CMOS technology. The fabricated chip was integrated with optical lens as a camera system and investigated with real image. By using this chip, we could achieved sufficient edge images for real application.

무인선의 비전기반 장애물 충돌 위험도 평가 (Vision-Based Obstacle Collision Risk Estimation of an Unmanned Surface Vehicle)

  • This paper proposes vision-based collision risk estimation method for an unmanned surface vehicle. A robust image-processing algorithm is suggested to detect target obstacles from the vision sensor. Vision-based Target Motion Analysis (TMA) was performed to transform visual information to target motion information. In vision-based TMA, a camera model and optical flow are adopted. Collision risk was calculated by using a fuzzy estimator that uses target motion information and vision information as input variables. To validate the suggested collision risk estimation method, an unmanned surface vehicle experiment was performed.

  • 다양한 분야에 서비스 로봇이 적용됨에 따라 각 임무에 적합한 영상처리 알고리즘을 빠르고 정확하게 수행할 수 있는 영상처리 프로세서에 관한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 로봇에 적용 가능한 영상처리 프로세서 설계방법을 소개한다. 제안한 프로세서는 CPU, GPU, FPGA가 융합된 형태로 AGX 보드, FPGA 보드, LiDAR-Vision 보드, Backplane 보드로 구성된다. 제안한 방법은 시뮬레이션 실험을 통해 검증한다.

  • An analog CMOS vision chip for edge detection with power consumption below 20mW was designed by adopting electronic switches. An electronic switch separates the edge detection circuit into two parts; one is a logarithmic compression photocircuit, the other is a signal processing circuit for edge detection. The electronic switch controls the connection between the two circuits. When the electronic switch is OFF, it can intercept the current flow through the signal processing circuit and restrict the magnitude of the current flow below several hundred nA. The estimated power consumption of the chip, with $128{\times}128$ pixels, was below 20mW. The vision chip was designed using $0.25{\mu}m$ 1-poly 5-metal standard full custom CMOS process technology.

  • Recent trends for the miniaturization and weight reduction of portable electronic parts is the use of subminiature components. Assembly of the miniaturized components requires subminiature screws of which pitch sizes are in a micrometer scale. To produce such a subminiature screw with high precision threads, not only a precision forming technology but also high-precision measurement technique is required. In the present work, a vision inspection system is developed to measure the thread profile of a subminiature screw. Optical simulation based on a ray tracing method is used to design and analyze the optical system of the vision inspection apparatus. Through this simulation, optical performance of the developed vision inspection system is optimized. The image processing algorithm for the precision screw inspection is also discussed.

3D Printed Flexible Cathode Based on Cu-EDTA that Prepared by Molecular Precursor Method and Microwave Processing for Electrochemical Machining

  • In this work, a metal-ligand solution (Cu-EDTA) was prepared based on the molecular precursor method and the solution was spin-coated onto 3D printed flexible photosensitive resin sheets. After being processed by microwave, a laser with a wavelength of 355 nm was utilized to scan the spin-coated sheets and then the sheets were immersed in an electroless copper plating solution to deposit copper wires. With the help of microwave processing, the adhesion between copper wires and substrate was improved which should result from the increase of roughness, decrease of contact angle and the consistent orientation of coated film according to the results of 3D profilometer and SEM. XPS results showed that copper seeds formed after laser scanning. Using the 3D printed flexible sheets as cathode and galvanized iron as anode, electrochemical machining was conducted.

A Vision-Based Method to Find Fingertips in a Closed Hand

  • Hand gesture recognition is an important area of research in the field of Human Computer Interaction (HCI). The geometric attributes of the hand play an important role in hand shape reconstruction and gesture recognition. That said, fingertips are one of the important attributes for the detection of hand gestures and can provide valuable information from hand images. Many methods are available in scientific literature for fingertips detection with an open hand but very poor results are available for fingertips detection when the hand is closed. This paper presents a new method for the detection of fingertips in a closed hand using the corner detection method and an advanced edge detection algorithm. It is important to note that the skin color segmentation methodology did not work for fingertips detection in a closed hand. Thus the proposed method applied Gabor filter techniques for the detection of edges and then applied the corner detection algorithm for the detection of fingertips through the edges. To check the accuracy of the method, this method was tested on a vast number of images taken with a webcam. The method resulted in a higher accuracy rate of detections from the images. The method was further implemented on video for testing its validity on real time image capturing. These closed hand fingertips detection would help in controlling an electro-mechanical robotic hand via hand gesture in a natural way.

  • 국내에서 물류를 처리하는 회사에서는 다양한 형태의 제품을 입출고 처리하고 있다. 다양한 형태의 제품을 처리하기 위해서 수작업으로 분류 업부를 수행하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 적은 인력으로 고효율을 내기 위해 비전 센서를 사용하는 실시간 QR코드 탐지 방법을 제안한다. 제한하는 시스템은 비전 센서를 사용하여 물류의 QR코드 인식을 실시간으로 처리가 가능하다. 제안하는 시스템은 물류의 단인 QR 코드 인식이 아닌 다중 인식을 통해서 다량의 QR 코드를 빠르게 파악할 수 있다. 연구에서는 시스템을 실제 구현하여 검증을 진행하여 비전 센터를 통해서 이미지에서 다중 QR 인식을 확인하였다.
