Design and Evaluation of a Weighted Intrusion Detection Method for VANETs (VANETs을 위한 가중치 기반 침입탐지 방법의 설계 및 평가)

  • With the rapid proliferation of wireless networks and mobile computing applications, the landscape of the network security has greatly changed recently. Especially, Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks maintaining network topology with vehicle nodes of high mobility are self-organizing Peer-to-Peer networks that typically have short-lasting and unstable communication links. VANETs are formed with neither fixed infrastructure, centralized administration, nor dedicated routing equipment, and vehicle nodes are moving, joining and leaving the network with very high speed over time. So, VANET-security is very vulnerable for the intrusion of malicious and misbehaving nodes in the network, since VANETs are mostly open networks, allowing everyone connection without centralized control. In this paper, we propose a weighted intrusion detection method using rough set that can identify malicious behavior of vehicle node's activity and detect intrusions efficiently in VANETs. The performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated by a simulation study in terms of intrusion detection rate and false alarm rate for the threshold of deviation number ${\epsilon}$.

A Research on V2I-based Accident Prevention System for the Prevention of Unexpected Accident of Autonomous Vehicle (자율주행 차량의 돌발사고 방지를 위한 V2I 기반의 사고 방지체계 연구)

  • This research proposes the Accident Prevention System to prevent collision accident that can occur due to blind spots such as crossway or school zone using V2I communication. Vision sensor and LiDAR sensor located in the infrastructure of crossway somewhere like that recognize objects and warn vehicles at risk of accidents to prevent accidents in advance. Using deep learning-based YOLOv4 to recognize the object entering the intersection and using the Manhattan Distance value with LiDAR sensors to calculate the expected collision time and the weight of braking distance and secure safe distance. V2I communication used ROS (Robot Operating System) communication to prevent accidents in advance by conveying various information to the vehicle, including class, distance, and speed of entry objects, in addition to collision warning.

  • Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) networks, also known as drone networks, have gained significant attention for their potential in various applications, including communication. UAV networks for communication involve using a fleet of drones to establish wireless connectivity and provide communication services in areas where traditional infrastructure is lacking or disrupted. UAV communication networks need to be highly secured to ensure the technology's security and the users' safety. The proposed survey provides a comprehensive overview of the current state-of-the-art UAV network security solutions. In this paper, we analyze the existing literature on UAV security and identify the various types of attacks and the underlying vulnerabilities they exploit. Detailed mitigation techniques and countermeasures for the protection of UAVs are described in this paper. The survey focuses on the implementation of novel technologies like Q-learning, blockchain, IRS, and mmWave. This paper discusses network simulation tools that range in complexity, features, and programming capabilities. Finally, future research directions and challenges are highlighted.

Performance Verification of WAVE Communication Technology for Railway Application (차량용 무선통신기술(WAVE)의 철도 적용을 위한 성능검증)

  • Wireless Access in Vehicular Environments (WAVE) communication technology, which provides vehicleto-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication and offers safe and convenient service, has been developed for application to an Intelligent Transport System (ITS). This paper provides field test results on a study of the feasibility of WAVE technology application to railway communication systems. A test railway communication system based on WAVE technology has been built along the Daebul line and a newly developed EMU. Field tests have been carried out according to the communication function requirements for LTE - R. The test results show that the railway communication system based on WAVE technology meets the functional requirements: maximum transmission length is 730m, maximum transfer delay is 5.69ms, and maximum interruption time is 1.36s; other tests including throughput test, video data transmission test, VoIP data test, and channel switching test also produced results that meets the functional requirements. These results suggest that WAVE technology can be applied to the railway communication system, enabling Vehicle-to-Wayside communication.

  • AUTOSAR is a partnership of automotive manufacturers and suppliers working together to develop and establish a de-facto open industry standard for automotive software architectures. In the AUTOSAR architecture, the runtime environment is at in the heart of the AUTOSAR architecture to provides the infrastructure services that enable communication between software components and between software components and basic software components. The RTE generator is an automated generation tool for AUTOSAR specification based RTE according to the ECU configuration. It generates communication API function for the software components and the basic software components like OS and COM of the application. The availability and the accuracy of the RTE generator are important for the automobile software which is based on AUTOSAR architecture, this paper proposes an architectural design of the RTE generator for auto-generation of the AUTOSAR based RTE.

  • Currently, issues related to freight at Vietnamese logistics companies are becoming more and more urgent because of typical problems in Vietnam such as traffic, infrastructure, and application of information technology. This problem has been studied by applying many different approaches such as Integer Programming (LP), Mixed Integer Programming (MIP), hybrid, meta search, … In this paper, we applied the ILP model in order to deal with the VRP problem in a small size logistics company which is very popular in Vietnam. The experiments showed promising results with some optimal solutions with some small extra costs.

  • This paper proposes a session key exchange scheme for providing secure communication between Vehicles and Infrastructure in VANET. In the current VANET environment, IEEE 802.11i or PKI based mechanism is used to provide secure communication between V2I. However, since the vehicles and the frequent changes of network topology, VANET nodes have some difficulties to exchange the session key using IEEE 802.11i or PKI method. In the proposed scheme, Local Router is newly defined for exchanging the session key between moving vehicles and infrastructure. A session key is generated by XOR operation based on the random values between Local Router and OBU. As a result, the proposed scheme has a noticeable advantage on the fastness of key exchange by exchanging session keys between LR and OBU.

  • IEEE 1609.2 표준은 WAVE (Wireless Access in Vehicular Environment) 표준에서 차량간(V2V, Vehicle-to-Vehicle) 혹은 차량과 인프라간(V2I, Vehicle-to-Infrastructure)통신 상의 응용 메시지 보호를 위해 제정되었다. 이 표준은 메시지 이증 및 무결성 검증을 위하여 NIST p256 타원 곡선 커브 기반의 ECDSA 전자서명 기법을 사용한다. 매우 복잡한 도신 상의 출퇴근 환경에서는 수백대의 자동차가 전송하는 메시지를 정상적으로 처리하기 위하여, 차량의 OBU(On-Board Unit) 혹은 노상의 RSU(Road-Side Unit)에서 서명된 메시지의 검증 성능이 매우 중요한 이슈가 될 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 V2X 통신에서 효율적인 ECDSA 서명 검증을 위하여, OBU 혹은 RSU 환경에서 CPU 상의 병렬 처리 성능을 테스트 한 후 시사점을 살펴본다.

  • Recently, various energy efficiency optimization activities are ongoing globally by integrating conventional grids with ICT (Information and Communication Technology). In this sense, various smart grid projects, which power suppliers and consumers exchange useful informations bilaterally in real time, have been being carried out. The electric vehicle diffusion program is one of the projects and it has been spotlighted because it could resolve green gas problem, fuel economy and tightening environmental regulations. In this paper, the economics of V2G system which consists of electric vehicles and the charging infrastructure is evaluated comparing electric vehicles for V2G with common electric vehicles. Additional benefits of V2G are analyzed in the viewpoint of load leveling, frequency regulation and operation reserve. To find this benefit, electricity sales is modeled mathematically considering depth of discharge, maximum capacity reduction, etc. Benefit and cost analysis methods with the modeling are proposed to decide whether the introduction of V2G systems. Additionally, the methods will contribute to derive the future production and the unit cost of electric vehicle and battery and to get the technical and economic analysis.

A Comprehensive Method to Impute Vehicle Trajectory Data Collected in Wireless Traffic Surveillance Environments (무선통신기반 교통정보수집체계하에서의 차량주행궤적정보 결측치 보정방안)

  • Intelligent Transportation Systems(ITS) enables road users to enhance efficiency of their trips in a variety of traffic conditions. As a significant part of ITS, information communication technology among vehicles and between vehicles and infrastructure has been being developed to upgrade current traffic data collection technology through location-based traffic surveillance systems. A wider and detailed range of traffic data can be acquired with ease by the technology. However, its performance level falls with environmental impediments such as large vehicles, buildings, harsh weather, which often bring about wireless communication failure. For imputation of vehicle trajectory data discontinued by the failure, several potential existing methods were reviewed and a new method to complement them was devised. AIMSUN API(Application Programming Interface) software was utilized to simulate vehicle trajectories data and missing vehicle trajectories data was randomly generated for the verification of the method. The method was proven to yield more accurate and reliable traffic data than the existing ones.
