  • The purpose of this study was to examine the conditions of , and needs for improvement in the University professor`s office. To fulfill this task, the way of using office environment, attitudes for work environment intentions and features to improve, and preferred characteristics were examined and scrutinized. The data for this study were collected through a questionnaire survey and analyzed with SAS Package software. 279 professor at Yonsei University participated in the study. The detailed aspects of conditions, various ways and their priorities for improvement of the environment were described. These results are expected to be used as basis for the design of office space as it applies to facility management perspectives-which has not been implemented in Korea.

  • By assuming a singly right cenosred sample, we propose the approximate maximum likelihood estimator (AMLE) of the scale parameter of the p-dimensional Rayleigh distribution. We compare the proposed estimator in ·terms of the mean squared error through Monte Carlo methods.

  • The interaction of a travelling shock with the shear layer of a flat plate is studied computationally. The Euler and Navier-Stokes equations are solved numerically on quadrilateral unstructured adaptive grids. The flat plate is installed horizontally on the central axis of a shock tube. The shear layer is first created by two shock waves at different speeds splitted by a flat plate. A series of small vortices is developed as a consequence in the shear layer. The shock wave reflected at the end wall impinges the shear layer. The complicated shock dynamics in the evolution to the pseudo-steady state is represented with the morphological transformation of a planar shock into an oblique shock.

  • Lindsay (1994) and Basu et al (1997) show that another density-based distance called the negative exponential disparity (NED) is an excellent competitor to the Hellinger distance (HD) in generating an asymptotically fully efficient and robust estimator. Bhattacharya and Basu (1996) consider estimation of the locations of several normal populations when an order relation between them is known to be true. They empirically show that the robust HD based weighted likelihood estimators compare favorably with the M-estimators based on Huber's $\psi$ function, the Gastworth estimator, and the trimmed mean estimator. In this paper we investigate the performance of the weighted likelihood estimator based on the NED as a robust alternative relative to that based on the HD. The NED based estimator is found to be quite competitive in the settings considered by Bhattacharya and Basu.

  • In this paper we consider the properties of group divisible designs and triangular designs which belong to linked block designs. These designs have minimum number of experiments among the same average efficiency factor Optimal complete diallel cross designs are constructed by these designs. A list is prepared of all linked block designs in the class of group divisible designs and triangular designs enumerated by Clatworthy(1773).

  • This study viewed foreign students as a publics that requires active communication, and analyzed the causal relationship between the antecedent variables (professor competency service, university administrative service) and outcome variables (adaptation to university life) of the university-foreign student relationships. As a result, both the professor competency service and the university administrative service were found to have a positive effect on the university-foreign student relationships. Also, the university-foreign student relationships was found to have a positive effect on adaptation to university life. Based on these results, we discussed the need to set the university-foreign student relationship as a major performance indicator and use it as basic data for developing active communication strategies and messages.

  • The least squares method is usually applied when estimating the parameters in the regression models. However the least square estimator is not very efficient when the distribution of the error is skewed. In this paper, we propose the asymmetric least square estimator for a particular nonlinear time series regression model, and give the simple and practical sufficient conditions for the strong consistency of the estimators.

  • Preference map is a widely used graphical method for the preference data set which is frequently encountered in the field of marketing research. This provides joint configuration usually in two dimensional space between "products" and their "attributes". Whereas the classical preference map adopts the ordinary least squares method in deriving map, the present article suggests the weighted least squares approach providing the better graphical display and interpretation compared to the classical one. Internet search engine data in Korea are analysed for illustration.

  • Petrov(1996) examined the connection between general moment conditions and the applicability of the strong law lf large numbers to a sequence of pairwise independnt and identically distributed random variables. In this note wee generalize Theorem 1 of Petrov(1996) and also show that still holds under assumption of pairwise negative quadrant dependence(NQD).

  • In this paper we consider the Bayesian hypothese testing for independence and symmetry in Freund's bivariate exponential model with censored data In Bayesian testing problem we use the noninformative priors for parameters which are improper and are defined only up to arbitrary constants. And we use the recently proposed hypotheses testing criterion called the intrinsic Bayes factor. Also we derive the arithmetic and median intrinsic Bayes factors and use these results of analyze some data sets.
