  • Bi-2223 wire, the first-generation high temperature superconducting (HTS) wire, was successfully commercialized and various electrical machinery and equipment are actively being developed in many countries. Because its critical current is too small to realize the lossless conducting part of electric power system with a HTS wire, multi-HTS paths are used to enlarge the critical current of HTS system. Though the resistance generated in HTS wire by transport current is very small, the difference of it in multi-path is the additional reason which causes the non-uniform current sharing in multi-HTS path except the well known reason, the difference of inductance between each path. In this paper, experimental research on current sharing of multi-strand and multi-stacked HTS wire was implemented. The whole critical current of multi-HTS paths is not equal to sum of critical current of each path because of non-uniform current sharing occurred in this paths. It was verified experimentally that Bi-2223 wires have different resistance generated by same transport current even if they was manufactured in same progress of work. Current sharing phenomenon was affected by difference of resistance and self and mutual inductance.

  • Large critical current is one of the prerequisites for the design of superconducting electrical equipments with large power capacity. To enlarge the critical current. multiple parallel connection is inevitable. In multiple parallel superconducting coils. the difference in normal resistance of each shunt leads to unequal current distribution. which may yield burnout. Therefore. uniform current distribution is required for a stable operation of multiple parallel superconducting coils. In this paper, Rogowski coils were fabricated to measure each shunt current of a 4-parallel superconducting coil. Four Rogowski coils were installed at the copper bars, which are used as current leads in superconducting coils. As a result, linearity of the Rogowski coils was ascertained and coefficients of each coil, the ratio of voltage and current, were derived. The coefficients were compared with theoretically calculated values. Based on the coefficients, each shunt current was calculated in a 4-parallel superconducting coil, where uniform current. distribution was confirmed. This paper verified the feasibility of the fabricated Rogowski coils as well as operational stability of the 4-parallel superconducting coil in 77K.

  • The seismic provisions of the current edition (2005) of the National Building Code of Canada (NBCC) differ significantly from the earlier edition. The current seismic provisions are based on the uniform hazard spectra corresponding to 2% probability of exceedance in 50 years, as opposed to the seismic hazard level with 10% probablity of exeedance in 50 years used in the earlier edition. Moreover, the current code is presented in an objective-based format where the design is performed based on an acceptable solution. In the light of these changes, an assessment of the expected performance of the buildings designed according to the requirements of the current edition of NBCC would be very useful. In this paper, the seismic performance of a set of six, twelve, and eighteen story buildings of regular geometry and with concrete moment resisting frames, designed for Vancouver western Canada, has been evaluated. Although the effects of non-structural elements are not considered in the design, the non-structural elements connected to the lateral load resisting systems affect the seismic performance of a building. To simulate the non-structural elements, infill panels are included in some frame models. Spectrum compatible artificial ground motion records and scaled actual accelerograms have been used for evaluating the dynamic response. The performance has been evaluated for each building under various levels of seismic hazard with different probabilities of exceedance. From the study it has been observed that, although all the buildings achieved the life-safety performance as assumed in the design provisions of the building code, their performance characteristics are found to be non-uniform.

  • We have fabricated n-p-n HBTs using 3-inchAlgaAs/GaAs hetero structure epi-wafers grown by MBE. DC and AC characteristics of HBT devices were measured and analyzed. For HBT epi-structure, Al composition of emitter was graded in the region between emitter cap and emitter. And base layer was designed with concentration of 1${\times}10^{19}/cm^{3}$ and thickness of 50nm, and Be was used as the p-type dopant. Principal processes for device fabrication consist of photolithography using i-line stepper, wet mesa etching, and lift-off of each ohmic metal. The PECVD SiN film was used as the inslator for the metal interconnection. HBT device with emitter size of 3${\times}10{\mu}m^{2}$ resulted in cut-off frequency of 35GHz, maximum oscillation frequency of 21GHz, and current gain of 60. The distribution of the ideality factor of collector and base current was very uniform, and the average values of off-set voltage and current was very uniform, and the average values of off-set voltage and current gain were 0.32V and 32 within a 3-inch wafer.

  • The effects of austenitizing temperature in a range of $1000{\sim}1150^{\circ}C$ on the corrosion resistance in 420J2 stainless steel tempered at $150^{\circ}C$ were investigated by an electrochemical uniform corrosion test in a solution of 0.5M $H_2S0_4$. Pitting test and DL-EPR test for intergranular corrosion were carried out in a solution of 3.5% NaCl and 0.5M $H_2S0_4$ + 0.01 M KSCN respectively. In uniform corrosion test, specimens austenitized below $1100^{\circ}C$ showed similar corrosion current density and passive current density, whereas specimens austenitized at $1150^{\circ}C$ showed a little higher values. Pitting potential slightly increased with an increase of austenitizing temperature. The degree of sensitization, DOS, also slightly increased with an increase of austenitizing temperature, reaching the highest degree at $1150^{\circ}C$. It was expected that the increase of DOS was due to the larger grain size rather than the dissolved precipitates in the matrix.

  • In this study, the alumina for gas sensor was prepared by anodic oxidation. It was stable thermally and chemically, and pore diameter and pore distribution was uniform. And the shape of pore was cylinderical. The aluminum plate was carried out by the thermal oxidation, chemical polishing and electropolishing pretreatment. The pore diameter, pore size distribution, pore density and thickness of alumina was observed with the change of reaction temperature, electrolyte concentration and current density. As a results, It was able to use for carrier because alumina which was prepared by anodic oxidationhas uniform pore size distribution.

  • In this letter, the distributions of direct current (DC) coefficients for P-frames in H.264/AVC are analyzed, and the distortion model of the Gaussian source under the quantization of the dead-zone plus-uniform threshold quantization with uniform reconstruction quantizer is derived. Experimental results show that the DC coefficients of P-frames are best approximated by the Laplacian distribution and the Gaussian distribution at small quantization step sizes and at large quantization step sizes, respectively.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide information on how to improve both the satisfaction and the current sizing system for the school summer uniform focused on middle and high school students. In order to collect the data, a questionnaire was administered to middle and high school students, and 1,153 data were analyzed. For the satisfaction of their school uniform, there were statistical differences in mean of gender in the design(upper garment) and design & activity(lower garment). On the other hand, students' evaluation of summer school uniform was significantly different in the upper garment(textile, design, activity), and lower garment(design, activity) by school age. For the evaluation of sizing fitness, the length and width of the summer upper garment(blouse/shirts) and the length and width of the summer garments( pants/skirts) were statistical differences in mean of gender or sexuality whereas there were significant differences in the summer upper garment(length, width, the length of sleeve, the width of sleeve, armhole) and the summer lower garment(length, width) by school age.

  • Effects of austenite on the uniform corrosion in the solution of $1\;N\;H_2SO_4$ were investigated through the electrochemical polarization test. Two phases structures of martensite and austenite were obtained by annealing treatment at the range of $500^{\circ}C{\sim}700^{\circ}C$ for 10min. in 70% cold-rolled 202 stainless steel. Volume fraction of reversed austenite increased rapidly with an increase of annealing temperature. Uniform Corrosion was occur mainly on martensite phase in 202 austenitic stainless steel with two phase of austenite and martensite. Corrosion current density increased with an increase of volume fraction of austenite, therefore uniform corrosion was affected by volume fraction of austenite
