  • A technique for alignment to true north is presented, based on synchronized measurements of vision image by a camera and output voltage of wind direction sensor. The true wind direction is evaluated by means of image processing techniques with least square sense, and then evaluated true value is compared with measured output voltage of the sensor. The proposed technique is applied to real meteorological tower m Daekwanryung test site. In addition, some uncertainty analysis of this method is presented.

  • Food is very important for human being. It is not easy for us to enjoy good life because the situation of food is not good in Korea. The self-sufficient food rate is very low and most of food which we take was produced by industrial agriculture. Food of this kind has some problems with respect to the health of consumer, agriculture, environment and community. In order to secure the true food which is safe and environmentally sound, producers, consumers and community have to work together. Producers must engage in environmental agriculture. They must produce the true food and need to know regional consumers. Consumers must pay attention to the regional agriculture and must participate the production of true food. Local government must open farmers' markets for direct marketing between farmers and consumers. NGOs should educate and organize the producers and consumers.

  • There has been increasing interest in recent years in the pedagogical importance of counter-examples that focuses on pedagogical perspectives. But there is no research that undergraduate students' generating counter-examples and proposing the true statements. This study analyze 6 undergraduate students' response to interview tasks and the process of their generating counter-examples and proposing true statements. The results of interviews are that the more undergraduate students generate various counter-examples, the more valid they propose true statements. If undergraduate students have invalid understanding of logical implication and generate only one counter-example, they would not propose true statements that modify the given statement, preserving the antecedent. In pre-service teacher's education and school mathematics class, we need to develop materials and textbooks about counter-examples and false statements.

  • The ratio which we usually use in producing products is nonconforming proportion or percent defective. As our modern society develops, we cannot but meet another proportion in legal, managerial, and medical areas where our human beings might commit various kinds of errors though they do not want them. In this paper we will generally call the ratio 'proportion.' When the size of such proportion as percent defective is observed by persons, it is not true proportion but apparent proportion because it has been observed with human or situational errors. Past studies have not systematically covered the analysis of relations between such proportions and type 1 and 2 error, but this paper analyses and derives such various relations, and it suggests the guideline as sixteen properties for utilization and sensitive analysis of the relations. Current paper's consideration of apparent proportion in addition to true proportion as our familiar concept will open and widen existing academic and application areas where people have mainly built societal, scientific and engineering rules and methods based only on true proportion.

  • Measurement error is one of main source of error in survey. It is generally defined as the difference between an observed value and an underlying true value. An observed value with error may be expressed as a function of the true value plus error term. In some cases, the measurement error variance may be also a function of the unknown true value. The error variance function can be rewritten as a function of true value multiplied by a scale factor. This research explore methods for estimation of the measurement error variance based on the data from complex sampling design. We consider the case in which the variance of mesurement error is a linear function of unknown true value, and the error variance scale factor is small. We applied our results to the U.S. Third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (the U.S. NHANES III) data for empirical analyses, which has replicate measurements for relatively small subset of initial respondents's group.

  • The paper proposes a technique for reconstructing the true hardening curve of isotropic materials from ring tensile tests. Neutron irradiated 42XNM alloy tensile properties were investigated. The calculation of the true hardening curve for tensile and compression tests of standard cylindrical samples was performed at the first step. After that, the FEM-model was developed and validated using the ring tension and compression tests (with the hardening curve defined in step 1). Finally, the true hardening curve was calculated by selecting the FEM-model parameters and its validation by ring sample tests in different states using an iterative method. For these samples, experimental and calculated gauge length values were obtained, and the corresponding material's constants were estimated.

  • In this study, it has been shown that the true coincidence summing correction factor can be obtained for the first time using the PHITS Monte Carlo program. Determining this correction factor using different methods and tools in each laboratory to increase the possibility of achieving high-efficiency measurement conditions is still popular in gamma-ray spectrometry. By using 133Ba, 152Eu, 134Cs, and 60Co point sources, the true coincidence summing factor was investigated in both near and far counting geometries for 15 different energy values. GESPECOR software was used to validate the results obtained with PHITS. A remarkable agreement was obtained between PHITS and GESPECOR, with a discrepancy of less than 3%. With this study, a new tool has been proposed to obtain the true coincidence summing factor, which is one of the significant correction factors investigated/calculated in gamma-ray spectrometric studies.

  • The true heartache is a condition of severe heartache corresponding to angina pectoris, as recorded from Hwang Jae Nai Kyung. According to the literatural study of true heartache, some results can be acquired, such as follows. 1. The site of the true Heartache, can be divided into two categories, first, its superficial and conscious area is the chest as same as the other heartache. But its inner lesion is the Heart-Meridian as others occupied at the Pericardium-Meridian in stead of the Heart-Meridian. 2. The etiological classification of true heartache, are Cold-evil, Heat-evil, Wind-evil, Blood stasis etc. But its major factor is Cold-evil, more than anything else. 3. The symptomatic signs of true heartache, consist of cyanotic change from hands and feet to phalanges; severe heartache pale complexion with cold breathing and its extreme state can manifestate unceased sweating called as Yang exhaustion.

  • In the tensile test necking occurs at the maximum load point and non-uniform stress state is generated in this section. The equivalent stress becomes quite different from the axial stress as necking proceeds. Methods for obtaining the true stress-true strain curves, by overcoming difficulties due to the necking phenomena, have been developed by many authors. One of the methods based on the finite element analysis simulation is a very promising method. In this paper, general-purpose finite element program is used to simulate the tensile test. A round specimen and a flat specimen prepared from the same steel block are tested and simulated. The true stress-true strain curves are determined without assuming that the material follows Hollomon's law.
