  • A CFD-based design method for transonic axial compressor blades was developed based on three-dimensional Navier-Stokes flow physics. The method employs a sectional three-dimensional (S3D) analysis concept where the three-dimensional flow analysis is performed on the grid plane of a span station with spanwise flux components held fixed. The S3D analysis produced flow solutions nearly identical to those of three-dimensional analysis, regardless of the initialization of the flow field. The sectional design based on the S3D analysis can include three-dimensional effects of compressor flows and thus overcome the deficiencies associated with the use of quasi-three-dimensional flow physics in conventional sectional design. The S3D design was first used in the inverse triode to find the geometry that produces a specified target pressure distribution. The method was also applied to optimize the adiabatic efficiency of the blade sections of Rotor 37. A new blade was constructed with the optimized sectional geometries at several span stations and its aerodynamic performance was evaluated with three-dimensional analyses.

  • A carbon nanotube field emission display(CNT FED) panel with a 2 inch diagonal size was fabricated using a screen printing of a prepared photo-sensitive CNT paste and vacuum in-line sealing technology. After a surface treatment of the patterned CNT, only the carbon nanotube tips are uniformly exposed on the surface. The diameter of the exposed CNTs are usually about 20 nm. Using the photo-sensitive CNT paste, we have developed a triode type CNT FEA with a self-aligned gate-emitter structure. The turn on voltage was around 100 V which corresponds to according the turn on field of about $40V/{\mu}m$. By the creation of a self-aligned gate-emitter structure, it is expected that the screen printed photo-sensitive CNT paste is promising as a good candidate for the large size field emission display.

  • We correlate the failure in miniature X-ray tubes with the field emission gate leakage current of gated carbon nanotube emitters. The miniature X-ray tube, even with a small gate leakage current, exhibits an induced voltage on the gate electrode by the anode bias voltage, resulting in a very unstable operation and finally a failure. The induced gate voltage is apparently caused by charging at the insulating spacer of the miniature X-ray tube through the gate leakage current of the field emission. The gate leakage current could be a criterion for the successful fabrication of miniature X-ray tubes.

  • Carbon nanotube arrays were fabricated using micro molding in capillary (MIMIC) process. Patterns remained on the surface in the pattern complementary to that present in the mold. CNTs were selectively grown on the MIMIC patterned sites with a triode PECVD. And turn on field for $10\;{\mu}A/cm^2$ electron emission current was $2.2\;V/{\mu}m$ turn on field.

  • We have developed the technique of fabricating triode structure with simple stacking method using a polymer insulator that is suitable for large panel and the activation method after the fabrication. By the techniques, a test panel was manufactured and proves good emission property and uniformity.

  • We proposed new triode-type Field Emitter Arays using Carbon NanoTubes(CNT-FEAs) as electron emission sources at low electric fields. The CNTs were selectively grown on the patterned catalyst layer by Plasma-Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD). In this structure, gate electrodes are located underneath the cathode electrodes and extracted gate is surrounded by CNT emitters. Furthermore, in order to control density of CNTs, we investigated effect of using rapid thermal annealing (RTA).

  • In this paper V-I(Voltage to Current) converter using the series composite transistor is presented. Due to the series composite transistor employs operating in the saturation region and triode region, the proposed circuit has wide input range at low voltage. The designed V-I converter has simulated by HSPICE using 0.6${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ n-well CMOS process with a $\pm$2.5V supply voltage. Simulation results show that the THD can be 0.81% at 4 $V_{p-p}$ differential input voltage when frequency of input signal is 10MHz.z.

  • We analyze several problems concerning the operation of the optical feedback prebias control scheme in the loser diode optical transmitter and present a LD simulation circuit as a way of adjusting the component's optimum value without using the Laser - triode. 1.5% light power decrease was observed between the temperature range of $0^{\circ}C$ and 36$^{\circ}C$ in which the total light power of LD was used for feedback loop and fairly good operation was demonstrated when a star coupler was employed as a beamsplitter by which approximately 1% portion of the light power was feedbacked.

  • 3-dimensional finite element method(FEM) electrical field analysis was performed to obtain electric fields on a field emission device tip in an array form. The simulation was performed by applying the Neumann boundary condition to the intermediate plane between tips. To verify our algorithm, comparison between simulation results and experimental data from another paper was made and the difference was discussed. Finally, analysis on triode structure was performed.

  • The triac is a bidirectional triode with blocking and conducting characteristics used in motor control or heater power control. This greatly simplifies the circuits required for the control of the full wave AC Power by reducing the number of power handling components and by reducing the size and complexity of the gate control circuit.[3] In this paper, We can understand measurement results of analysis which have been made on the electrical characteristics of triac with gate diffusion time for the gate area.
